Lafayette’s New Boy Toy

The role of Jesus Velasquez, Lafayette’s new “love interest” for season three has been cast.

The part has gone to Kevin Alejandro – who has previously been seen in Weeds (one of my favourite shows) and Ugly Betty.

The casting call for Jesus Velasquez:

An attractive Latino orderly in his 20s to 30s. We come to learn he is a gay, Latino, attractive orderly! He’s feeding Ruby Jean at her care facility. As good-natured as he is handsome, he takes his demented patient’s racist gibes in stride.

Ruby Jean would be Lafayette’s formerly dead mother. I hope they provide an explanation for this but I won’t hold my breath…

So what do you think? Can you see this guy having sexy times with Lafayette? True Blood desperately needs some man action. Personally I would prefer some Eric/Laf sexy times but I won’t bore you all with that again. If Ball won’t give me that, then I guess I can settle for this.

What? I told you already, I am a dirty perv!

“Ruby Jean would be Lafayette’s dead mother. I hope they provide an explanation for this but I won’t hold my breath…” … *rolleyes* …

“Can you see this guy having sexy times with Lafayette? Personally I would prefer some Eric/Laf sexy time but I won’t bore you all with that again.” Who knows… maybe he’ll be fantasizing with Eric while having sex with this one as a consecuence of the “eeeevil” blood hahaha.

What I’m really wondering is how are they going to manage so many diferent arcs, story lines and characters within only 12 episodes. I mean, they will have Laf and Jesus with “RubyJean reloaded”, Sam and the 3 new Mickens, Tara with some Reverend and Franklin, Eric with Yvetta and Godric’s flashbacks, Pam in a lesbian relationship (she’s now a regular b/c of this new arc), Sophie Ann and the V selling yatzeeh mistery challenge, Alcide and “Debbie the missing cast”, Jason with Crystal and Calvin Norris (another missing cast), some werewolf/shifter story from the 2nd world war, Jessica on a killing spree, Arlene’s pregnancy (I couldn’t care less *rolleyes*), among others I can’t recall right now. Obviously some characters belong to one same arc, but take for example a character like Sookie. She will be looking for missing Beel… then hth is she going to meet Crystal and Calvin Norris? Will she be looking for missing Jason at the same time??

mmm… I don’t know. All these characters on so many different arcs seem to me like a bit too much and somehow a very “tight” project for just just one season… (and obviously, a lot less Viking screen time @@).

I completely agree–way too many character plot lines, and less time for our Viking. It’s almost becoming hard to grasp these new story lines…and is kinda making my head hurt:( Less is more when it comes to the extra plots…and more is more when it comes to Eric:) But, be that as it may–maybe AB has devised a plan to make all of this work. Man, I hope so…for his sake:)

I haven’t read a whole lot about season 3, but reading all those plot lines back, I can only hope that some of them are very minor. Or perhaps running into a 4th season? It’s a lot to cover in 12 episodes.

And I totally want to see some Lafayette/Eric action.

    @SVB I don’t mind Laf’s new plaything at all… he’s yummy.

@Gigi You kill me so hard with your funnies! I don’t know how the hell they’re going to pull it all off now that you mention it, but I find none of it surprising. For all we know AB could be completely wiping Calvin, Crystal and the entire Hotshot community altogether. And the person that pushes Sookie into the boot with the starving and sex-crazed Bill could be Yvetta instead of Debbie. Who the hell would know exactly what goes on in AB’s freakin mind?

If everything else goes wrong, at least we know TB season 3 will offer plenty of eye candy!

@Gigi – I’m definitely worried too that they are going to try to shove too much into one season. I mean it’s good that there’ll be a lot happening, but I’m seriously afraid that it will end up bouncing around the different story lines too much and lose emotional impact. And there are my own selfish concerns as well, that we’ll get less Viking and not more. 😦 I personally believe they should have a TB spin-off starring Eric, Pam, Godric, and Lafayette. And I have to agree with nskars that I love your funnies! Smart aaand humorous. 😉

@nskars- They do have Crystal already cast (Lindsey Pulpisher, I think) and I believe I read that she’s also supposed to be a regular instead of a recurring role, so I’m guessing that that will mean that is one of the bigger story lines for the show. I’m really not so concerned with who pushes Sookie into the trunk with Bill, as much as what happens after that happens. I seriously doubt that will make it into the show, but even if it does I imagine getting to see Bill push past his horrible, raging vampire instincts and stop himself from hurting his beloved Suuuukkkiii. Yep, I think I just threw up a little bit just thinking about it.

@VPG Oh I think I remember seeing that she was cast but had completely forgotten about it. Yes, I demand that the car boot scene make it into the show. But I guess even if it does, they’ll make Bill out to be some kind of martyr and “oh but he was hungry and tortured” or some shit. If that happens I will be boycotting the series for real. I will surely miss my Viking crush if that happens, though. 😦

And I hope they keep the part where Eric drives Sookie back to Bon Temps, the fuel station scene and Eric (and Bill – blecch) annihilating the were gang in Sookie’s house scene.

@nskars Yes! They HAVE to have Eric driving Sookie back to Bon Temps and the argument over her driveway and her telling him she can’t afford a better one and him buying it for her! That soooo needs to be included because it was definitely one of the first big times that Eric provided what she needed without her asking him or without expecting anything in return from her and somewhat was the beginning of that pattern of behavior for him. Plus it was a major reason why she took him home with her when she found him running down the road.

@VPG The driveway gift giving might already be ruined… remember in 2.03 when Sookie was bargaining her trip to Dallas for Laf’s release and 5 thousand dollars cos she’d “missed a lot of work and needs a new driveway” and then Bill said 10 thousand. Speaking of which, that is one of my fave parts because Eric is all not wanting Bill to escort her, “I don’t think so – no”. Ohhhh the look on his face KILLS ME man, he looks jealous! Weeeeee!

    Latest AB interview: http://blog.buzzymultimedia.com/alan-ball-interview/
As always, a lot of blah blah about “Lafayette is great”-“Beel is so important”, and at the end… nothing “concrete”. Oh, he also loves Eggs… WTF?!?!?!?!

    Blah Blah Blah… etc

What does Ball feel is important to preserve from Harris’ books? “The main story is the same. We diverge mostly in the secondary characters. The books are sort of Sookie’s story, what happens to her. The other characters disappear if they’re not in a scene with her. And so we have diverged, certainly in the storylines for Tara [played by Rutina Wesley] and Lafayette [played by Nelsan Ellis], but we’ve tried to remain very true to the spirit of the world.”

Secondary Characters??? Is Eric a secondary character???

    more blah blah blah… then:

Anything Ball can tell us about where Season Three is going? “Season Three is a big Eric [the vampire played by Alexander Skarsgard] season and Season Four is really big for Eric’s character, according to the books.”

Season Three is a big Eric SEASON… and Season Four is really big for Eric’s character, ACCORDING TO THE BOOKS? I wish to understand WTH that means because IMO, what he was saying before is that he has been diverging “the book characters”. Can someone please enlight me a little whit this riddle? Is he trying to say he will not shows Eric in season four as he is presented in DTTW (book4)?

    shit… I hate that man.

For sure, Gigi, he must be the only person in the entire world who loved Eggs.

I like how he left a measly 2 lines at the end of the interview for Eric. You know, if it wasn’t for that character and ASkars himself, I’ve got a feeling that the 2nd season wouldn’t have made half as much impact as it did. And you can quote me on that, girls (and boy).
