Just Sayin’

S1 – Episode 9: Plasir D’Amour

Bill: Sookie must be protected.
Eric: Now that sounds like an edict. But it couldn’t be…because I would know about that.

S1 – Episode 10: I Don’t Wanna Know

Sam: I thought you, of all people would understand.
Sookie: Why? Because I’m dating a vampire?
Sam: Because you of all people, know what it’s like to live with a secret.

Sookie: I don’t hide who I am.
Sam: I’ve wanted to tell you for years!
Sookie: I kissed you! And I know you wanted to do more than that.
When were you gonna tell me? Before? Or after?

S2 – Episode 12: Beyond Here Lies Nothin’

Bill: I am grateful that you would reveal your gift for the sake of the town.
Sam: It took me this long to realise that you suffer alot more hiding something, than you do if you face up to it.
Bill: *guilt face*

Sam’s moment of clarity foreshadows Bill’s betrayal.

Just sayin.

Yeah, why should the vampire queen look forward to meeting a fangbanger? Fangbangers are a dime a dozen so what’s so special about Sookie? She’s a telepath and ‘not quite human’–but how does QSA know these things about her?

Because Hadley, the Queen mistress, is Sookie’s cousin and told her about Sookie’s gift (and SA sent Bill to Bon Temps to seduce Sookie in order to assure her as an asset for her kingdom). Don’t you remember her (Hadley) asking Bill about her gran? He also lied to her answering she was ok or fine (something like that) and didn’t tell her she was murdered.

Yes, my questions were pretty much rhetorical, lol, or questions even the ‘casual viewer’ should be asking. But I think on TB, QSA’s motives for procuring Sookie will be much more selfish then assuring her as an “asset for her kindgom”. She could have gone through Eric if that is all she wanted with Sookie.

Actually Bill would be a better choice for that, ans a hometown folk, and I’d say that would be the reason for the choice, him being right there.

I wouldn’t pick someone as powerful as Eric, to try and warm her up to the idea. He’d seem way too dangerous in her eyes.

I agree with you. The purpose was to send someone to not arouse suspicion in her, and nothing was better than a vampire returning to his hometown.

    My only reaction: SQUEEEE

I actually read some recaps recently about season 2 and I’m kinda convinced there’s a bigger picture about the Bill-Sookie eventually Eric thing based on this one person’s analysis. I still don’t trust Alan Ball though, but I trust the writers, like: Alexander Woo, Brian Buckner and Nancy Oliver.

These stuff really forshadaws Bill’s betrayel but I don’t trust AB.

And a lot of cheesy ones at that. I love Eric (who doesn’t around here), but the “I don’t love humans” (or w/e) line was just appalling.

Besides in the books, I don’t think he loved her at this point. He had the hots for her and wanted to get in her panties, sure, but love? Nah.

        • 15 Gigi
          March 8, 2010 at 9:23 pm

The “I don’t love humans” wasn’t only remarking he has interest in Sookie because she isn’t entirely human, but it was made also as a way to contrast the difference between him and Bill. Because while Eric isn’t concern about ANY human, Saint Beel is portrayed as merciful with humans (for example with the FoTS’ boy outside Godric’s house, etc).

And talking about appalling… what about the “delicious” comment about the taste of children while staring intensely at Arlene’s children? It was also another way of contrast the differences between Eric and Bill, especially after the “homely” scene where Bill was serving ice cream and was sharing with Arlene’s children at the table of Sookie’s house…

(I swear I’m terrorized about the idea of what AB could make of Eric with amnesia. I know that, in his eagerness to portray Eric as an ïncontrollable and dangerous monster, AB is able to make an Eric that would be able to attack and hurt Sookie if he doesn´t recognize her ufff.)

          April 6, 2010 at 4:18 am

I didnt actually mind that line. I mean vampires dont love humans normally. They just use them until they are done. And also, Sookie isnt entirely human, remember? So him saying “I dont love humans” doesnt have to be taken all negatively. Plus, he said he doesnt love humans, not that he CANT. He was just appeasing the Queen. Although i know he doesnt love her in TB right now, but the seeds are planted for something to happen later.

Me too, nskars, me too! It was those last episodes that really set me along the road of pessissm when it comes to TB. I mean we had a couple of fabulous episodes (i.e. Timebomb and I Will Rise Up) and then that garbage at the end there. Ugh.

I do think that the great Betrayal by Bill will come eventually; there has been too much foreshadowing for it not to. And that one line from Eric about not knowing about an edict made me especially happy because Eric should not know about Bill’s true role for sure. That kind of stuff makes me want to have hope, but like Kealeagh I’m still having a difficult time trusting AB, especially when it comes to him making things right for my Viking.

  6. March 8, 2010 at 9:34 pm

I’m worrid too and what gig said about Eric attacking Sookie whitout amnesia makes more worried. And really how can AB say Eric can love only himself when he gave us ”Timebomb” and ”I Will Raise Up” and plus he had read the books. And the way he is portrayting an abusive relationshio as true love makes me wat to throw. It remainds me so much of Twilight when the girl gest to stay whit the guy who is compared to darkness and drugs(sorry twilight fans).

    • 20 Ashley
      April 6, 2010 at 4:21 am

He said that “he doesnt know if Eric can love anybody but himslef” not that he “can love only himself.” Its not the same thing. Bill fans jump for joy when they hear this, but its not meant to be taken as a total condemnation of Eric. Eric and Sookie will happen on the show. Theres no way it wont.

I don’t believe a word out of AB’s mouth. Most of what he says in interviews is not to be taken seriously, as he’s always being cheeky, vague and/or ambiguous, and he contradicts himself all the time. on purpose. he’s just toying with us because he doesn’t want to “blow his wad up front”. he said so himself.
I’m actually quite positive about this whole eric thing. I see all the signs in the show, we just have to be patient…

I’m glad to see you’re so optimistic…my optimism is waning after seeing both ASkars and AP’s hair lately. Just sayin’. And i’m usually one of the optimistic ones!! 😛

      • March 9, 2010 at 6:37 am

Isn’t it hilarious (and probably a bit sad lol) how a little bottle of hair dye can send so many of us right off the rails!

I have very deep philosophical objections to this dark haired Eric. I really could go on and on about this but I won’t bore you all again :/

          March 9, 2010 at 6:56 am

Oh I COMPLETELY agree with your objections! I’m contemplating if I want to be set up for heartbreak watching season 3 (if I decide to get HBO). But, like i’ve mentioned before, I probably will if only to support ASkars. But this is EPIC fail on AB’s part…if this bit of hair dye happens to be true on-screen, TB may not last very long based on Eric fans alone (and I imagine we make up 90% of the fan demographic).

I know he did it to punish us HAHHAHAHA. God!! I HATE that man!

      • 27 trixie
        March 9, 2010 at 8:21 am

well, the fact is that his hair is still shorter than his season 2 haircut, so even if they dyed it blonde it wouldn’t look the same.
therefore, the only possibility I can come up with is that they’re putting him in some kind of wig or extensions until it grows long enough.

      • 28 Gigi
        March 9, 2010 at 5:31 pm

Obviously AS will use a wig in the flashbacks. But after the “gorgeous and experienced” display of knowledge in WIGS that TB experts had shown on S1, why would they want to risk again his image with another wig or extensions if his natural hair is blonde?? It was perfect before they began to film S3. In case it’s a disguise for Leif (which, BTW, is a very “blond” viking name LOL) wouldn’t be easier to use a wig instead of dying the hair?? The cloack of silence is over it, so probably we will only know when S3 begin. And I really HOPE it isn’t another travesty from AB and his new “narcissist” adjective for describing Eric.

        Just sayin’…

        March 9, 2010 at 5:20 pm

Yes, I agree with Trixie as well. I’m still optimistic. On the hair, I think they may be shooting out of sequence – it might just be for the “Leif” scenes as someone said on here. I’ve heard they also darkened AP’s hair recently (not sure if that’s true) so it makes sense that it might be for the MS storyline. I guess we’ll see when it airs. I’m kind of excited to see where they are taking the story.

I agree, there has been major foreshadowing all along about Bill’s betrayal. I have a hard time believing they won’t go there.

I’m not nearly ready to string Alan Ball up just yet. I agree AB contradicts himself all the time, but at the same time, he knows how to say just the right things to drive the different fan groups nuts. He’s playing both sides, though, admittedly, he’s playing up the Bill/Sookie stuff way more, because that’s the ship they are selling at the moment. First, it’s “Bill and Sookie have a connection that won’t die” then it’s, “Eric is just the hot bad boy, you shouldn’t actually like him”, then it’s “of course Eric and Sookie will get together, it’s fated”. Yeah, I’ve been jerked around way worse than this before. Maybe it’s because I was in Buffy fandom for so long, but this is *nothing* compared to some of the stuff the BtVS writers put Spike/Buffy fans through. IMO, the Buffy writers were way more hurtful with their comments in regards to the Spike/Buffy ship, believe me. (I should clarify, it wasn’t actually the exec producer Joss Whedon who said those things, but the other writers did). It was infuriating. Alan Ball’s storyline missteps and occasional crappy comments have been refreshingly mild in comparison.

I agree with you completely…im pretty sure of the eric thing as well….and also, i read that interview with AB, and he actually said hes NOT SURE if Eric is capable of loving anybody but himself, he didnt say flat out he wasnt…AB is just screwing with peoples heads, he thinks its funny i think.

I’m hearing whispers that there will be season 3 promos airing when HBO starts re running season two – March 21st I think?

They started releasing S2 promos in early April last year so we should get something very soon.

Hopefully we’ll start seeing some stills/promos…something…any fucking thing…that will put us out of our collective misery and resolve this hair question so we can all move on with our lives heh.

Why doesn’t anyone ASK the man about this? I can’t believe he’s been walking the earth looking like that for over a month and no one has asked him WHY? It’s killing me to know. KILLING ME!

    • 35 Stef
      March 9, 2010 at 11:37 am

It is interesting that no one has asked him this very important question. Maybe someone has, but he may be lip-locked. As if he says anything AB will have to kill him…not if we get to AB first…who’s with me??? LOL

  9. March 9, 2010 at 11:00 am

And in other news my husband just told me he doesn’t mind the dark hair and that he thought Eric looked a bit…wait for this…WHITE TRASH in season 2.

We are now getting a divorce.

White fucking trash….my GOD. I don’t even know this man anymore.

    • 38 MASpencer
      March 9, 2010 at 3:38 pm

Ahem. With slight variances accounting for regional differences, white trash is almost universally typified by a cotton wife beater and a flat-brimmed baseball hat worn sideways– “chin strap” style facial hair optional. Eric Northman might have looked like EUROTRASH half the time (stripper tank, tight jeans, shiny suit, form-fitting v-neck sweater, and all)… but good old All-American whiskey tango????

I think not! Tell your husband to take it back!!!! LOL.

  10. March 9, 2010 at 3:19 pm

Are you talking about Eric;s hair in s3 because I was really traumatizaied by how he looked in s1.Seriously that wig looked alful on him and now they are changing Eric’s hair again.Eric is always blonde I mean even when I say his name I’m imagining his hair as blonde.A question:why ,why can Eric cut his hair off but Jessica is going to be forever a virgin?Another plot hole because seriously I’m tired of AB’s bullshit.

    • March 10, 2010 at 8:01 am

I’m going to go with: Hair is dead cells-it does not regenerate. Hymens are living tissue. Makes sense to me. And thank God..wouldn’t want to see that shag throughout the entire series!! It just wouldn’t be right if I had to pop Viagra cuz my Askars was lookin like Kid Rock lol..now that I could understand as a White Trash reference…wrong season.

explains Bill have rolled in bed with Lorena and smeared blood all over and have not cut their hair and those awful sideburns?
humm, do not think they believe in continuity or credibility of its ideas, S2 is full of examples
I do not believe for a moment that they come with some logical explanation for so much mess, they think just because it is a story of fantasy / fiction can any fool explanation we accept, is really disappointing …

Does anyone believe Bill truely loved Sookie at some point in the books?

  12. March 9, 2010 at 8:20 pm

Well in the books he says that in the start he only wanted to seduce her because of Queen’s orders but than he ”fell in loe whit her” but if I’m honest I don’t think Bill’s love is so true.Yes he did save her in Dead and Gone but while they were together he never was teher for her or asked her of she needed anything. In ”Club Dead” he even rapes her but the grave scene in ”Dead Untill Dark” can be call rape too because Sookie didn’t like it and she only initated sex whit him because he could have killed her.And than after the break up when he was traying to get together whit her again didn’t even tell her the truth and Eric was the one who told her about Bill’s betrayel. Also in the books Bill loved his maker Lorena and even cheated on Sookie whit her.Bill’s love for Sookie was never sinceare and their relationship was very unhealthy.Sookie was naive to undertand it(but not as naive as in TB).Eric did many things for Sookie in the books. He bought her a mobile phone, a coat, paid her driveway.Things Bill should have done. That’s why it angers me so much that they put Eric lines and actions to Bill and idelaize BS so much.

I’m clearly in the minority here, but the last thing I’m worried about is his hair color. Celebrities change their hair color so often. If Jessica Simpson can go from blonde to brunette to blonde again, ASkars can too. They can use a wig here and there(for the flashbacks)which could be the case when he has the short-dark hair. Plus most men’s hair can grow out in no time.

Is ASkars a lead yet? Or still supporting? He may have had to cut it/dye it for another role. Whichever way, Alan Ball is a huge twat and nothing seems to surprise me with him anymore. I guess that’s the real reason I’m indifferent…I just simply can’t get worked up about TB bc the disappointment is only that much worse.

    • March 10, 2010 at 12:30 am

I’m a bit behind on this one, but does anyone else remember what Bill says to Sookie in season 1 Ep1? He says: Vampire’s often turn on those who trust them. Makes me wonder if that wasn’t another plant- right form the start. I only read the books after season 1 had ended so I didn’t know what Bill’s story was until way later- but it seems that they left some things in that on watching a second time you might pick up on more.
