i was able to embed that into my livejournal with no problem :/ unless it’s not compatible with here for whatever reason. Eric in sandals made me LOL for some reason.

Stupid free wordpress. Can only embed if it’s on YouTube.

I SO have to move off here.

Is it wrong to hate Yvetta already?

Pam looks great though. I really hope there’s more Pam and Eric in S3, their little exchange at the end was worth the painful-to-watch dancing. They make such a great pair.

I agree on all points. I’m trying to keep an open mind on Yvetta, but it is very difficult. However, the Eric and Pam stuff made me completely able to overlook Euro-Ho. If ever there is a True Blood spin-off, it should be “The Eric and Pam Hour, sometimes featuring Godric”. 😀

Yvetta’s coat looks like wolf fur– and reminds me of the coat we saw Sophie-Anne wearing in the earlier promo.

That’s my contribution to the discussion… for now. LOL.

so she’s a ‘ho in wolves clothing rather than a wolf in sheeps clothing?

I LOVE this theory! Where was it first talked about in depth, I would like to know the current ideas on it, I am assuming it is going along the QSA making sure the Viking isn’t putting spanners into her commandeering of a telepath plans?

I think it was the post that showed the minisode promo. We were speculating as to why they chose to make Yvetta Czech. I’ll double check and confirm…

                    You’re welcome!

Incidentally, Sunny’s human trafficking theory (in brief) is that Sophie-Anne may want Sookie NOT for her telepathic powers (which is kind of a yawnfest) but because she wants to take her narcotic fairy blood and either sell it to vampires or hoard it for herself.

I LIKE. It would be positively scandalous, and sets Sophie-Anne up as a ruthless drug kingpin operating under mafia-like pretenses.

Wow…never thought of that. It would be an awesome plot, but how would QSA know about her fairy blood at this point? Maybe in need to scope out Sunny’s blog for the details.

She already knows Sookie’s blood is different. That’s why she told Eric NEVER to drink from her.

                      How, I’m not sure. I suppose we’ll find out…

Yes, she knows that “she’s not entirely human”. I think QSA knows exactly what Sookie is. How I don’t know but she’s done her homework well. I can’t wait until all is revealed.

That is an awesome AND authentic way for AB to go with that storyline. It would also make up IF done right for the BS that was done in S3.

Maybe the Queen knows bc of Hadley, maybe somebody told Hadley she had Fae blood(just like andre told sookie) or maybe since Hadley is the Queens lover, she just realized it herself. She figures Sookie has to have fae blood too and with her being telepathic probably thinks it even more.

                    • April 27, 2010 at 10:47 pm

With the queen’s little speech about the finer qualities of Ludis’s blood, I think we can assume that she is a connoisseur and knows fae blood when she tastes it. After all, Sophie Anne isn’t keeping Hadley around for her sparkling personality or sense of style.

Which one is Sunny’s blog? I have a couple on my bloglines but I am only really just discovering them all, I have been in a fanfiction black hole ever since I started watching TB and reading SVM and have only discovered this one a couple of months ago and then have picked up a couple more on the way.

BTW Melli, QSA did say to Eric don’t drink Sookie’s blood as it’s different etc. Maybe she knows more then she is letting on, or is at least suspicious that she is fae?

OK. In total we have: Russian speaking Czech ho in wolves clothing with French name (http://www.thinkbabynames.com/meaning/0/Yvette)
‘The Bourne Identity’ part 4! LOL

        • April 28, 2010 at 1:04 pm

Yvette isn’t the only supe named after an ancient mythological tree. Daphne is French for laurel. Lorena could either mean laurel or queen. (Lorena’s flapperdress was embroidered with a giant tree.) Holly and Olivia are both being introduced this season, too.

Although it’s hard for me to look at Yvetta (lol), I really loved this! I too loved the banter between Eric and Pam. It’s nice to see the playful, flirty, and sexy side of Eric. I think they’re going to show more of this side of him in S3 now. I’m so happy his was the first to air! It’s all about Eric! Yay! 🙂

By the way, this will definitely help Eric’s image with the male fans since they might get another side of him later in the season. AB’s smart to do this.

Yvetta is a total spy by the way!

So… if Yvetta is a spy for Hallow, she would be planted so far in advance for amnesiac Eric story to follow? How much air time is she gonna get? Would she be the one who gets killed by Chow? I can’t stand her!

[Would she be the one who gets killed by Chow?]

        • April 27, 2010 at 10:22 pm

I dman well hope so.. i’d love to see Chow take her down in ep 12

        • April 27, 2010 at 10:26 pm

This makes it clear that Hallow knows exactly which buttons to press to get Eric’s motor running. It’s looking more and more to me like we’re going to get the Hallow and Eric back story from Ball that Sookie was too naive to ever wonder about.

          • April 27, 2010 at 10:50 pm

I am so glad that AB can do this (even though he has fucked up some stuff). I always wondered about it, but as usual Book!Sookie to so much for granted and never questioned any of it

Oooo… I’m really loving these 2 theories. One with QSA and the other, Yvetta the spy. Yvetta being the spy does make perfect sense. Remember the witches were Weres too, and she has her wolf skin on at the interview. Perfect! Just perfect!! 🙂

        April 27, 2010 at 10:13 pm

Well we might get AE at end of this season, like most people I believe that will be the cliff hanger this season. Sookie driving down the road and finding Eric naked running down the road, not knowing who he is. So since it’s possible that it will happen this season(well end of season) makes sense to bring her in early.

        April 27, 2010 at 10:28 pm

Yvetta is probably going to be this season’s Daphne, luring Eric into a trap. Most likely, she’ll be killed by the one who sent her.

not say that Yvetta would have what? only two scenes and three or four lines? has been a scene and the speeches! I guess next it will only appear naked with Eric, not enough to be a spy like Daphne, just saying

          • 48 VikingLover
            April 27, 2010 at 11:31 pm

She only has 3 scenes and 2 lines in the 1st episode but she appears again in ep 4 and maybe again later.

Plus she doesn’t need to have as a big a role as Daphne. She solely has to be there to feed information to whomever sent her. Ep 10 is titled “I Smell A Rat” and I bet the rat is her.

              • April 27, 2010 at 11:35 pm

Well that blows that theory out of the water (i was hoping there was more mirror events between Daphne and Yvetter.

Well, because her presence would be setting up events for NEXT season, I wouldn’t expect her ulterior motives (assuming there are any) to be revealed that early, anyway.

But if VL is right and Yvetta somehow sets off the curse– or at least helps to entrap Eric, like Daphne did with Sam– then she’ll still be dead by the finale.

I’m kind of counting on it, myself.

  6. April 27, 2010 at 9:11 pm

I guess I’m weird, I didn’t really like it. Maybe when I re-watch it later tonight I’ll like it more, but I was really hoping for the minisodes to fill in the holes left in the season two finale. At the very least, I was hoping we’d see *some* sort of continuity in Eric’s character as he deals with grief over losing Godric.

Maybe this is just a part of the minisode and there’ll air a longer clip on Sunday night (they did specifically say in the promos that the first one would be shown on 5/2), kind of the way the first chapter of DitF on CH’s website wasn’t as complete as the one in the paperback version of D&G.

Maybe Sookie is shocked when she arrives in the basement of Fangtasia because she finds Eric naked and sobbing. ;-P

I think the implication is that this is where Eric was during the kidnapping… which will be confirmed in the first episode when Sookie interrupts their sexytime looking for Bill.

But the question remains: Where was Eric during the finale?

I wanted to see that he brought a bull to Bon Temps so Sam could imprint off of it, or what Sunnynala proposed in her blog, or just *something*.

AB’s already said that the audience will know where Bill is in the first episode, so I don’t think proving Eric’s innocence should be a real issue. (I would have also been happy if they somehow explained AS’s hair changes. I hate continuity issues!!!!!)

I’m guessing that they’re saving the minisodes that might have really juicy information for right before the season premiere. They don’t want to blow their wad early.

              April 28, 2010 at 3:26 pm

Kind of OT, but I’ve also wondered if this is why they’re waiting so long to release the extra-feature-laden Season 2 DVD. It seems strange that it would only be available two weeks or so before the season 3 premiere, when you’d think the point would be to allow plenty of time for people to catch up… and then decide that they just have to subscribe to HBO to watch the next season.

Anyway, I know Pam will be doing some narration– which could offer some eyebrow-raising insight. But more interesting is the fact that KARL will also be narrating in the extra features. This is awesome, of course, because Lord knows I la-la-love Ka-ka-ka-karl.

              But, ummm… he’s dead. A minor technicality, I suppose. 😉

Anyway, someone with a Blu-Ray MUST report back with the goods. Because I’m theorizing that there might be some juicy stuff hiding in the extra features. Stuff that maybe they DON’T want us to know about too far ahead of time, lest we have the opportunity to start putting two and two together.

Pam is just, perfect. The banter was awesome. Still not liking the storyline though. It’s a vampire bar for crying out loud, why would they need gimmicks to get people to come to the bar? It doesn’t really matter as long as it means more screen time for Eric.

      April 27, 2010 at 10:53 pm

Yeah but Eric is a business man and he and Pam were always looking for ways to make Fangtasia more profitable. Remember they had the calender and the T-shirts, etc? It makes sense that they would have sexy dancers (both male and female) there as well.

I like the “You don’t have to be bitches”/”Actually we do” comeback…it kind of mirrors Sookie’s comment to someone who answered the phone at Fangtasia in one of the books (8, maybe?).

Maybe Yvetta is showing Eric her pole-dancing skills on the wheel of doom when Sookie walks in. Seems like after their little exchange Pam would take perverse pleasure in interrupting him, and AB has already shown he likes to juxtapose contrary things. What better than sexytime in the torture chamber?

I may not know much, but I know my furs…the fur vest Yvetta is wearing is red FOX!

    • April 27, 2010 at 11:53 pm

I agree that Yvette’s wearing fox. So…does that mean she is one or she’s fox hunting Were? If Ball stays with the story, she’d be a Were, but he could be adding some diversity into Hallow’s coven.

I was reading Sophie Anne’s wolf coat as antipathy for Weres, which Bill will share after this season, if he doesn’t already. I think he and Sophie Anne are going to be planning and directing the Witch War for their own purposes. Bill is going to turn into the gun happy, war hungry, wife neglecting Steve.

      • 93 MASpencer
        April 28, 2010 at 12:06 am

I saw Sophie-Anne’s coat that way, too.

I am admittedly NOT an expert in furs. But in the books, Debbie Pelt was a werefox. (Well, depending on which book you read. LOL.) And so was Tanya Grissom, who Sandra Pelt sent to spy on Sookie.

I believe Alan Ball has made Debbie a wolf… but Yvette’s fox fur still could have been placed as a little hat tip to that piece of canon from the books. And I still think the fact that Yvetta and Sophie-Anne are both wearing animal PELTS is significant.

        • April 28, 2010 at 1:00 am

I am convinced that Yvetta was sent by Hallow or Sophie Anne as bait to catch Eric. Eric would recognize her as a shifter, but not be able to tell what kind, right? I don’t think Eric would knowingly hire a Were, but maybe this is a case of a wolf in fox’s clothing.

          • 95 MASpencer
            April 28, 2010 at 1:02 am

I don’t really think she’s a shifter, either– I think Eric would have know. But I do think she might be connected to Hallow or Sophie-Anne… or both.

            • April 28, 2010 at 1:14 am

She could be human, but if she were a Were, she might be able to fool Eric into thinking she was a fox.

                April 28, 2010 at 2:15 am

Well if she is a shifter, I’ll bet we’ll hear about it in the season premiere. Seems like something that would come up in conversation, if only in passing.

                April 28, 2010 at 2:22 pm

Scratch that. Sam didn’t know that Daphne was a shifter, so it’s probably safe to assume that– in True Blood at least– it isn’t necessarily easy for supes to recognize eachother.

Besides, it would fit the Daphne/Sam parallel far better if Eric didn’t know her true nature until after the fact. So now I’m thinking that Yvetta may actually be a werefox.

      • April 28, 2010 at 12:09 am

Renee.. i like how We’ll see Bill become like Steve.. s4 for that yeah??

Now do you think that the Vamps would hire a were??? i kinda don’t think that would happen. So i just think she is a witch

        • 100 MASpencer
          April 28, 2010 at 12:15 am

In the books, Hallow was a V-addicted werewolf. True Blood is making Debbie Pelt into a V-addicted werewolf, and we know we’ll be seeing plenty of V-addicted biker werewolves throughout the season.

I’m 99.9 percent certain that these two plotlines are going to converge somehow. And if we believe that Hallow was somehow under Sophie-Anne’s employ (which has been heavily speculated, due to all the random mentions of magic– most notably by Ludis during the neverending Yahtzee game) then all of them have some level of association.

I just have no idea how they’re all connected yet. But I can’t wait to find out!

          • 101 Dee
            April 28, 2010 at 12:44 am

Yeah, I kept thinking there has to be a reason to make Debbie Pelt a V addicted were, and not just to make her more badass. AB also said she will have a bigger role, so there will definitely be a twist in her story. I am sure we’d see more of her than in the books such as helping to torture Bill, which we found out in book 4. But I agree, there has to be some other connection. Are the weres the ones who let Russell know that vamps are dealing V in LA? Is Debbie Pelt somehow involved with Hallow, or will AB not use Hallow but another character to cast the spell. Remember, Debbie’s mom was part witch so maybe somehow AB will use that?

I’m the same way, I feel there is a connection but just not seeing any of it clearly.

        • 102 MASpencer
          April 28, 2010 at 12:19 am

Also, werewolves worked for Russell in the books. They served as daytime guards. So I gather that vamps and weres DO associate out of necessity– they just don’t think very highly of eachother.

        • April 28, 2010 at 12:23 am

I know this is heresy, but I see S4 with Amnesia Eric as a replay of Jason at FOTS. I think Bill and Sookie will still be engaged and trying to hold it together. We’ll get Eric accosting Sookie in the shower echoing Sarah and Jason in the bath, and then finally Eric and Sookie will get together in one earth shaking sex scene when Sookie realizes what Bill’s role in the Witch War is. I wouldn’t be surprised if he holds Holly hostage and tortures her for info. It’s very curious that there was a casting call for her already, especially since when Sookie visited the church she introduced herself as Holly.

          • April 28, 2010 at 12:37 am

I love the way you think. I can see this totally happening, because of how many parallels you have already found in the first two season.

I think they said Steve Newlin will be Bill’s alter ego for S3, each season has been different so not sure about S4.

Yeah I read that theory online, hmmm interesting but I just hope the whole part of Bill and Sookie still engaged is not true lol.

            This is what I read:

“Jason’s excursion to the FOTS is the pattern for Amnesia Eric in the second half of S3. Sookie’s place becomes the Farmhouse of the Sun.Steve and Sara Newlin are the alter egos for Bill and Sookie as they try to hold together their relationship and deal with Amnesia Eric. They will still be together for most of S3. I think the breakup will come near the end of S3 before the witch war. Sookie and amnesia Eric will have two sexual encounters while Sookie is still engaged to Bill. They will probably break up either just before or after the witch battle. Either Eric will kill Debbie Pelt by accident or Sookie will do it and Eric will assume he did the deed, as in the book. Sookie and Eric return to book positions for S4 when they can finally start to build a real friendship.”

I don’t like the 2nd theory either bc it says Eric will be mostly celibate during that time and instead dreaming of Sookie lol.

It says more but not gonna copy and paste the whole thing but if anyone wants to read all of it: http://truebloodwiki.hbo.com/page/Season+3+Speculations+%26+Theories

            • April 28, 2010 at 1:08 am

Hey Dee! That was my original theory. When I heard that Bill’s kidnapping was resolved in the first half of the season, I speculated that Amnesia Eric would fill out the second half. I think Ball has said since then that DTTW would be S4. When I posted about Bill and Sookie being together for most of Amesia Eric’s stay at Sookie’s, I was nearly run off the board! ROTFL! What can I say? I don’t like it, but that’s where it looks to me like the story is going.

I don’t think Bill and Sookie will be together by the end of S3. She’s not wearing her engagement ring in the pic we saw recently – the one which shows her banged up from some sort of attack. I also don’t think they would have Sookie and Bill together in S4.

Yikes! I hope this theory is not true. It would just blow to watch Bill & Sookie together, parallel to Steve & Sara Newlin. Yikes! And then Sookie having 2 sexual encounters with Eric while still engaged to Bill??? Not that I personally mind this, after all, Bill is a deceitful, lying SOB… but it just seems so out of character for Sookie. I’d like their sexual encounters more…. honest, I guess. In DTTW, she had already broken up with Bill, and was not attached to anyone else, it just seems more meaningful that way. I guess that’s just the romantic in me… probably won’t sell as well on TV! Sigh…

Yeah, that’s exactly why I don’t think it would happen that way. I’m not saying it because I would hate it (AND I WOULD) but because I don’t think it could work that way with E/S. I think they’ll be broken up by S3 and NOT together in S4. Plus they are leading to a big reveal with Bill and I just can’t see how Sookie would be able to forgive him enough to be with him.

    From the Wall Street Journal

Fangbangers are counting down the weeks until the third season of “True Blood” premieres, and Alan Ball is making the wait a tad bit easier. A new cast poster was just released, and besides Eric suddenly being brunette, everyone looks as darkly erotic as they did at the end of season two. The real titillation comes from the first of six minisodes that will lead up to the premiere on June 13.

Eric and Pam are looking for a new addition to their bar Fangtasia and they find it in a lithe, heavily-accented dancer, whom Eric “claims” before sending Pam away. The best part? Even when Eric’s excited, he betrays nothing. We can’t wait for Sookie to finally realize Bill’s a deadbeat and seek solace in a certain Viking’s arms.

I wonder why this was leaked early? I should probably try to stop visiting the boards, but I am sure I won’t be able to resist!

    • April 28, 2010 at 2:00 am

I remember when HBO first announced these, they referred to them as webisodes, and the impression given was that they would be shown online initially and then on Sunday nights. But then the terminology went to “minisodes” that were going to replace the teasers we’ve been getting. So I think the original plan was to show them online first – and from the press release HBO just made, that will be the case with all six. They will be online first, then rescreened on HBO on Sunday.

The same press release that referred to Bill as Sookie’s “soulmate”. For real.

Yeap… i nearly vomited reading that. What drugs was the writer on when writing this article. Have they not read the books, because i’m pretty sure there is nothing about ‘soul-mate’ between Billy and Sook.

And I’m not surprised they chose to capitalize on the overplayed starcrossed romance aspect a la Twilight– as if ADULTS actually give a shit about all this insipid “soulmate” crap.

Side note: I'm so sorry! I've been trying really, really hard to stay OT on the posts! But I couldn't resist the Spuffy comment. It was like trying to resist chocoloate or something, lol. It's tough cause I just have got into the whole Buffyverse thing and since it's been so long since its heyday there's not really much about it going on anymore, so I had to throw in a comment while I could. Sorry!

The famous blues singer Ruth Brown said once: “A fox is a wolf who sends flowers”…

With the exception of toy breeds of dogs, foxes are the smallest members of the canine family, being about the size of a domestic cat and the red fox is the most common of them. The fox is symbol of slyness, cunning, strategy, quick-thinking, adaptability, cleverness and intelligence. Also symbolize passion, desire and intensity. While it’s on the hunt it “charms” its prey. It will acts silly until it gets the animal’s attention. It prances and whirls about until the target gets curious, draws closer and is within striking distance. It has also played dead in order to attract its dinner. The fox hunt at dawn and dusk, and and its entire body is pointed like an arrow – straight and tightly aimed to “hit the target”.

According to the Native American beliefs, the fox is a pagan symbol of camuflage. The Fox, like the Coyote, is also seen as trickster. It represents shapeshifting, being invisible and the female magic of camouflage. Its power cycle is dawn, dusk and at night and has a long history of magic and its associated cunning. Similarly, in the Celtic beliefs, the fox is most often seen at the Between Times, dawn and dusk, so it is seen as a guide into the Faerie Realm (@@!). They believed that witches could transform themselves into foxes.

    • April 28, 2010 at 6:21 am

Wow Gigi you rock darl.. That is some great work right there. I can see that Yvette will be charming her prey, and if she is there under orders from hallow or even QSA, then she will be the trickester. Of course she’ll be working mostly at night, from dusk til dawn.. It fits. I’ll think more on it later when my kids aren’t yelling at me

Interesting info Gigi. I also wonder why Charlaine Harris felt the need to invent a fictional parish for Bon Temps and why she named it Renard, the French word for fox. Reading your post it occurs to me that, if BT is, as I believe, Eden after the fall, Putting it in Renard Parish might indicate that it belongs to that other trickster, Old Scratch.

      • 144 Gigi
        April 28, 2010 at 5:19 pm

I agree with you that the Renard’s meaning of a fox is an important thing to ponder when we are thinking about BT. Obviously, CH linked the parish name with the fae’s story line since she began to write her first book and based it on the celtic belief that the fox is seen as a guide into the Faerie Realm.

    • 151 Meili
      April 28, 2010 at 1:05 pm

In the book, Eric refuses Hallow offer. The other witch that was sent was the boobie trap, which was not the offer. In TB, she could be sent as a spy with a boobie trap, so there is no reason for Eric to refuse her juicy ass! (Yuck!) In TB, Eric is just being Eric… we all know that it is too soon for him to feel “love” for Sookie, so as far as he is concerned, it is not like he what he is doing with the fox is deceitful to Sookie.

    • 152 Janofarc
      April 28, 2010 at 1:32 pm

In the book Eric refuses Hallow herself. She demanded to be ‘entertained’ for 7 nights or something through the booby trapped agent, the agent was negotiating. Maybe Yvetta is trying him before Hallow offers to buy? Or maybe she’s in place to make him more pliable to Hallows terms thinking she can charm him into agreeing to whatever is offered?

I’m hoping QSA will be the ultimate puppet master in this scenario. She knows how dangerous Eric is to her plans for Sookie and she could use Hallow (or Debbie Pelt, who I think is a composite of Hallow) and her magic to set a trap and get him out of the way.

Right. Wanting his hot bod so badly she puts a curse on him for refusing is a trite plotline. And why would he refuse anyway? What’s a little fucky-sucky if she’s hot? LOL.

No way QSA isn’t using magic to facilitate her many plots and schemes, and since TB Debbie seems to posses some of Hallow’s characteristics it just makes sense.

LOL, but in the books, Hallow didn’t just want to sleep with Eric, she wanted a permanent share of his business interests also.

            • April 29, 2010 at 2:49 am

The ridiculousness of that storyline is why I’ve always thought that Sookie only ever got half of that story. Eric Bloodaxe, the Viking king that I think is the inspiration for Eric, was married to a witch. That’s why I have a sneaking suspicion that we’re going to discover that Eric and Hallow have a history, maybe not a marriage, but a long standing relationship. The plot would work if you viewed Hallow as a scorned wife who thought she was entitled to part of her ex’s wealth.

So to toss another theory out there as to what Yvette is up to (no good we all know right) … Apologies if this one has already been mentioned and I missed it reading through the comments. Love the activity on this blog!

Yvette could be working for Russell. Russell wants to know what QSA is up to – probably related to the V selling in some way. So, on the same night, he dispatches someone to take Bill and another minion, Yvette, over to worm their way into Eric’s world. This could also explain why the writers had QSA actually visiting Fangtasia (which we saw in another teaser for the season). They need Yvette to see and hear certain things to relay back. There wouldn’t really be a plausible plot device available that would allow for Eric bringing Yvette with him to see QSA. If Sookie walks in on Eric/Yvette this is how Russell will probably first hear about her (news relayed by Yvette) – triggering the were attack.

Yes!!! I JUST mentioned somewhere above that in the promo pic we saw of him, Russell is wearing fancy-pants FOX HUNTING attire! Daphne became Maryann’s minion AFTER Maryann attacked her and let her live. So assuming we’re going to see some kind of parallel, there could be a similar arrangement between Russell and Yvetta.

The problem with that, however, is that it mucks up our theories about a Sophie-Anne/Yvetta/Hallow connection. But maybe we’re only half-right about that, and these plotlines will end up converging in a slightly different way.

Or not at all. Which would suck. LOL.

Oh, and despite what I thought earlier, this possible connection makes a way better case for Yvetta actually being a shifter. If she is, I’ll bet Eric or Pam will make some kind of casual mention of it, maybe as early as the season premiere– or not. Sam didn’t know Daphne was a shifter… so maybe in True Blood, supes can’t recognize eachother like that. (It would seem so, at least.)

Then again, it’s kind of sick that a werefox (assuming Yvetta is one) would wear fox pelts. It puts the lotion in the basket. 😉

But Bill definitely recognized Sam as a shifter as early as the first ep when the ‘dog’ ran up to check on them after the draining.

Truly though, I’m hoping we don’t get a lot of were-this and were-that. I hope there are just shifters and werewolves.

I don’t know how to explain that, other than to call it an inconsistency. Because Sam totally didn’t see that Daphne was a shifter… and you’d think he’d recognize one of his own.

But then, you could always argue that he was blinded by his sexual attraction to her. Which may hold for both Eric and Pam with respect to Yvetta, if that’s a legitimate excuse.

Maybe… or it could be that Bill already knew about Sam. Sophie-Anne clearly knows something about Sookie’s nature– which would imply that she’s done her homework. If she’s had spies on Sookie for a while, they would have probably identified Sam as a shifter, too.

This is true, but it was implied that he and Sam already knew each other. “You are known to not be friendly to those of my kind”. And Sam calls him “Eric” in a familiar fashion as opposed to addressing him more formally.

I agree that there is more to Sam than meets the eye.

Yes, that’s true. Which makes me even more suspicious of Sam. What is the backstory here between Sam and Eric??? The only time that Sam had any occasion to meet Eric was when Eric arrived at Merlotte’s in S1 to pick up Bill (to go see the Magister). After that and before that, we have never seen any type of interaction on screen between Sam and Eric until the moment he arrives in Fangtasia seeking help. Interesting no?

Actually, Eric and Sam never crossed paths when Eric came to Merlotte’s–Sam stayed in his office and hadn’t come out by the time Eric left.

The only thing I can think of is that Sam is who Eric got the information from about Bill feeding Sookie his blood so soon. When Eric first got curious about Sookie it would be just like him to question the person most likely to know the details of their relationship.

I’m trying to remember the scene where Sam learns Daphne was a shifter and it is a bit unclear so I could be off here, but I seem to remember that she was the first other shifter he’d ever met. Until then he thought he was alone and wouldn’t have had any experience “sensing” others of his kind. So that may be a possible explanation.

As much as I love the assorted were-animals in the books (the Sookie books, the Anita Blake books, etc), I gotta admit, it might be a tiny bit too cheesy for TV. Most people are only familiar with werewolves, and so far, they’ve only talked about wolves in the show spoilers, so I wouldn’t be surprised if all the weres (including Debbie and the Hotshot weres) are just wolves.

I don’t think Yvetta would be a shifter, I see her fox fur vest more as a symbol. IMO they wanted to highlight the attributes of the “fox” and her “mission” at Fangtasia with the vest. She could be a human witch related to the were witches’ coven or to any other of your theories. At the other hand, she could also be a Were witch who hunts on foxes because also is known that wolves eat foxes. BTW, something in her entering reminds me of Rachelle Lefevre in Twilight…

I have mix feelings regarding the fact that Sam didn’t recognize Daphne as a shifter. It would be a HUGE and lame inconsistency that supes can’t recognize each other by their smell in TB. Especially after you see how carefully the writers are highlighting details (just as an example, you can also watch here the detail of the Fangtasia’s tee that Sookie was wearing after the manead’s attack, and how significant is its meaning to Eric’s character
http://i617.photobucket.com/albums/tt254/Wal-y/Blogs/red-44Sookie-1.jpg ). So, I would like to think that Sam didn’t recognize Daphne because she was under a Maryanne’s spell since she became her minion. It makes more sense to me that the reason why supes can’t recognize each other by the smell is because there is involved some sort of magic and it’s working as a way to disguise it.

            • April 28, 2010 at 10:39 pm

Ok KSR, this one is for you. I don’t think it’s a problem that Sam didn’t recognize a shifter, but Bill and Eric did. We know that vampire can smell blood, but while shifters have heightened animal senses, why should it be so sensitive that it can distinguish different kinds of blood?

We know that human blood smells sweet, Lorena compared the dancers to apricots. As delicious as fruit is, I think vampires might just like to add a little meat to their diet in the form of shifter blood. This would explain Russell’s fox hunting. It would also be one of the reasons Yvetta, a werefox, drew such a strong reaction from both Eric and Pam. Compare their reaction to her to their reaction the Lisa and Cody when they visited Fangtasia. Eric’s interest in Yvetta is more than sexual. I can’t imagine him being so excited by any Fangbanger. Compare it to his reaction to Sookie. Sure Yvetta is more out there, but it’s just not in Eric’s character to get THAT excited. Can you imagine Eric acting that way when Dawn caught his attention? And speaking of Dawn, physically, she is very close to Yvetta, yet Pam said that Dawn wasn’t her type. (The auditions gave us a pretty good idea of what type interests her! ROTFL!)

So…I think we’re going to see Russell hunting and drinking werefoxes, which will be contrasted with Eric enjoying his meat with a side of sex.

The casting call did say, Yvetta, will be human, right? trying to remember. I’m trying to think if they would’ve left that out so people wouldn’t get clues but not 100% sure. Anything is possible though but seems like they left in even other stuff in casting calls although it gave us a lot of clues.

I do think Yvetta is a spy, I thought that once I heard about her. Just trying to figure out if she is a were of any kind. I think Eric and Pam would’ve picked up on that right away, the moment she would’ve walked into Fangtasia but doesn’t seem like she is by their reaction. If she is a witch maybe she can somehow mask that though but not sure.

                • April 28, 2010 at 11:01 pm

See, I think they did pick up on it. They both snapped to attention before they saw her when they smelled her. That’s what prompted them to turn. I just elaborated about this in comment #169. It boils down to this–if blatant sexuality and that type of look was all it takes to interest Eric, Dawn would have been more than a one off.

                  • 185 Dee
                    April 28, 2010 at 11:33 pm

I do think Yvetta looks better and a bit more exotic, even the way she dresses. Plus we know Eric did go for Dawn, we have no idea how he was with her. She wasn’t Pam’s type but I think it probably had a lot to do with personality.

Not saying it’s not possible, it definitely can make a lot of sense. I think if she was a were that maybe they would’ve made a comment about it like Oooo isn’t she a fox or some funny line that I can’t come up with haha. Unless theyre planning to save that info for when the season starts.

Also, would Eric hook up with a were? it seems like he would not but again that was the impression I got from the books and the show can be different.

                    • April 29, 2010 at 12:11 am

You could be right, but I would be surprised if she just turns out to be human. To me that just doesn’t square with Eric’s ennui when we first met him, with how he has acted with Sookie who we know he’s hot for, with the prostitute in Dallas, or even with Dawn. She would’ve been happy to have wild sex any which way with him, but she couldn’t hold his interest for more than one night.

I think a big part of Yvette’s attraction for Pam and Eric is her supe blood. I don’t think Eric would be interested in a Were, but, that is why I think she might be trying to hide her true nature with all of the other animal cues she’s sending off.

Good catch! I spotted the bra, but not the other things. Yep. That girl is a were of some type. Either she’s a fox, or she’s a Were trying to pass for something else.

I don’t think shifter senses are nearly as heightened as we are led to believe. I mean, Sam snuck into Dawn’s apartment and rolled around in and sniffed her sheets pretty thoroughly, and he still didn’t recognize Rene’s scent until way later.

Hmmm… wow! All this is…interesting. So, you think Russell killed Eric’s father, and Russell is also Godric’s maker? So Eric is talking about avenging his father by killing Russell?

          • 199 Dee
            April 28, 2010 at 9:23 pm

Yeah thats what it can be, kinda just looking at clues through casting calls, interviews and etc. Dennis O’Hare(Russell) said when he met with AB and were talking about the character they thought about what to do with him and one thing they said was that he HAD to be older than Godric, which makes you think hmmm why? Then AS has said numerous times that he will avenge someone from something that happened 1000 years ago, so around when he became a vampire. Now why would Eric have to wait 1000 years to avenge something? well Godric just died so I don’t think the timing is a coincidence, he probably wasn’t allowed to avenge this person while Godric was around, probably Godric told him not to. Then we know that Eric will have flashbacks of his parents, so maybe thats a hint.

You also have to wonder why Godric would not allow Eric to avenge somebody. Makes sense if it were Godrics maker who killed this person, and Russell is one of the few vampires around that is even older than Godric who was 2000 years old, Russell is 2800 on the show.

Also, theres some clues from spoilers in later episodes.

            Again, just a theory

I saw the full view of that pic and she had uggz on, for some reason I don’t think Sookie would have uggz on especially in a hospital. They might’ve just taken a break or finished with the scene. But I think if she didn’t have a ring on she probably didn’t have it in the scene either. Especially if they were only taking a break, i don’t think she would wear a ring for the scene then take it off and put it back again soon after. So hopefully it means, Sookie, is not wearing the ring anymore.

but anna would be wearing a ring, she’s engaged to stephen moyer. so the lack of ring and hospital garb says trunk rape.. she’d wear something on her feet to get her to the set so maybe she’d just finished in makeup, not that she’s wearing any, but i cross fingers this means she’s pissed at bill.

Well, Anna would be wearing a ring off-set, but she wouldn’t put a ring on between takes, as she might forget to take it off in-between. So I’d assume that the no-ring scenario relates to the story, I doubt the ring has any commercial value whatsoever to justify safekeeping between takes.

I loved every bit of this.

“I know ya’ll are vampires, but that doesn’t mean you have to be such bitches about it.” “Actually, we do.”

    Pam rules.

Also, I’m going to venture an unpopular opinion and say that I don’t think Yvetta is involved in any conspiracty, nor is she going to have a significant role at all. I think she’s just there as eye candy or a prop. I’m probably wrong about that, but then again, we’re probably all wrong about our crazy theories. We’ll see this summer.

it would be ok if yvetta was not important.
but i really think she is. and hope.

is it mean that i really want her to have magic surrounding her, which is why eric and pam are both enthralled? and that when eric finds out who sent her and he gets angry at the meeting, she is the one who is attacked by chow. hey, maybe they don’t know she’s a plant until during the meeting, thats why chow gets so angry.

can i also jut have a quick chuckle at chow…… cos he’s hilarious on ‘glee’…. *snigger*
can’t help it, i just keep seeing him in those too short shorts….

ok, just reading something about the minisodes….

“We can’t think of a better way to quench fans’ thirst for True Blood than to give them six, entirely new minisodes that let them step back into the amazing world created by Alan Ball,” said Zach Enterlin, Vice President of Advertising and Promotion, HBO.

can i just raise the tiny little angered me…’created by Alan Ball’

maybe ‘brought to life by…’ or ‘envisioned by….’ but this just annoys me

All the waiting for this? FGS! Ok… I laughed with the dances…. But it was sooo stupid. It has gotten me angry! What did they tell us, that Eric hired the girl and is going to be his pet and supper? I was expecting to learn a bit more. Depressing.

I disagree with you. CH made it clear in her books that Eric had a lot of women. Eric loves women. Sookie know that about Eric.

Yea, even hs employees fawn over him, and he lets them, Ginger (or Belinda – can’t recall) pratically rubs herself over him, hands all over his chest, and that’s just what Sookie actually saw.

Who knows what else happened before or after. Now, is he monogamous when in an actual relationship with Sookie after mid book 9, or maybe even after his book 8 realization while in her house during the takeover? I believe so (more likely after they actually got together obviously). I don’t think his possessiveness in wanting himself as her only lover is one-sided since he actually loves her.

But before that, and even the events starting in book 4, where he found himself running in the direction of “his heart’s desire”? He definitely wasn’t before book 4 and I doubt he was saving himself after, although it’s likely he didn’t enjoy his encounters as much as he used to, and not caring as much about casual laisons, since Sookie is under his skin even if he didn’t know it or recognised the feeling. Him stopping to be the “carefree vampire that he used to be” after book 4, according to Pam, may also relate to that.

Not entirely. As far as I remember Bill tells Sookie that Eric is unforgettable, not that he’s promiscuous. It’s fair to say he probably is but in the books Sookie is never exposed to it, she never sees him with another woman – even when exposed to the thoughts of fangbangers – and any fangbangers who approach him that she actually sees are sent away without interest.

It’s funny when you think of how Bill is willing to feed from the male donor that malcolm throws at him – in front of Sookie no less – also there’s the donor in Dallas and his infidelity with Lorena, he flaunts his relationships with Portia (I know it wasn’t really a relationship but you get what I mean) and Selah in front of her.

Eric is discreet as a gentleman should be, any dalliances are kept very much on the DL, the same can’t be said for Bill.

Yeah, I agree that Eric is a gentleman and wouldn’t flaunt his escapades in front of Sookie. That being said, I also agree with Kitty – it’s clear that he’s had a lot of women and I think it’s safe to say he was no boyscout. I think he is promiscuous (or was before now) – although I wouldn’t really use the word promiscuous because he was single and beholden to no one so why not? Let’s face it, he would have slept with Sookie on the very night he met her had she been willing. He came right out and asked Bill if he could have her. Then he tried his best on every occasion to do so. lol He certainly slept with Dawn, Belinda, and Ginger which is alluded to in the books. Which is okay – it would be unbelievable to assume that he was celibate while Sookie was off dating other people.

Now in TB, this is no longer a first person narrative so we are viewing the lives of each character through their eyes. It makes sense that we would see this slice of Eric’s life as well. As much as I hate Yvetta, I can’t hate the circumstances because it’s realistic. Plus, the only people that will make a big deal about this are the BL’s. Everyone else will understand that Eric is not going to be celibate while Sookie has made it clear that she’s with Bill. I’m dying to see how he reacts to that God awful ring. *gag*

In any case, it’s not as if TB Eric is purposefully flaunting Yvetta in Sookie’s face. She going to barge into Fangtasia and catch them – I’m sure he wouldn’t have had it go down like this had he known she was coming. He wants her bad so he wouldn’t do anything this stupid to jeopardize getting her. To be honest, I’m actually glad she’s going to catch them. I think it’s good she sees this side of Eric. TB Sookie needs a dose of reality for a change.

I’m still not sure about TB Sookie, we don’t know much about how she see’s herself. Is she confident with her own image? Is she confident of her own sexual power?

Book Sookie was fairly insecure, often comparing herself to other women and seeing herself as less than them if TB Sookie is as self-conscious it would be a kick in the nuts for her to see him with Yvetta because, let’s face it, she’s a lot prettier than Sookie. With low-confidence in her looks and sexual prowess it would be fairly intimidating for her to catch them in the act – her dreams would make her feel even more like a fool and that attitude will pull her further away from thinking she could be with Eric in a sexual way.

True, but can also help her down the line. She will see for herself the type of women Eric can get. If Eric starts showing a bit more emotion towards Sookie this season by taking a bullet for her, helping her in jackson and being there for her, she can see that even though he can get those type of women he still wants her. This will be even great that it all happens after she sees, Yvetta. Not even a woman like that can distract him from Sookie and while he may want, Yvetta, sexually, it won’t compare to going out of your way to protect somebody. It can be a confidence boost that in Erics eyes Sookie is more important than Yvetta.

Yeah I can definitely understand that but she’s with Bill – even engaged now and I don’t think that in her mind she ever thought she would act on those sexual feelings. Plus right now she’s attributing those dreams to the blood. I don’t think TB Sookie understands what kind of feelings she’s having for Eric. Maybe she needs to feel some jealousy in order to understand that she might have something other than sexual feelings for him. Eric has made it clear now that he wants her but it’s unfair to think he’s going to be sitting in a corner pining for her. And she knows he’s slept with Dawn, who was also an incredibly beautiful woman. In any case, they really haven’t had enough bonding time yet for her to feel too bad about it. I think it would have a greater impact had they bonded but they haven’t spent much time together. Hopefully that will all change in S3.

“although I wouldn’t really use the word promiscuous because he was single and beholden to no one so why not?”

VL, I am so glad that you said that! That’s what was going through my mind the whole time I was reading these posts. He’s single, she’s single (hopefully), they’re both consenting adults; I see nothing wrong with the picture. I admit there is part of me that doesn’t particularly like it because I’m such a Sookie/Eric shipper that I hate the thought of either of them being with someone else, but it is totally realistic and not promiscuous to me. And when you think about it, Eric’s been around for over a 1000 years….can you just imagine the number of women he’s slept with? Even in the books, Sookie’s comments on how good his kissing is and why not since he’s had so many years to perfect the technique.

Yeah, in the books Eric even tells Sookie about what other women expected from him. When he offered for her to stay with him and not have to work, he was surprised by her answer and pointed out how she was different from other human women.

I don’t think Eric is doing anything wrong, she is in a relationship with Bill so why should he not be with other women. At this point on the show, he doesn’t understand his feelings either. He is just intrigued, curious and knows he wants her but is trying to come up with some logical reason instead of thinking it might be deeper, which he is trying to avoid. I think that would make him want to be with other women even more, this is typical guy behavior. He realizes he is thinking about Sookie a little too much, he wants to get his mind off of her so why not use the distraction of somebody else. This can actually be a good thing, because this is also how some people realize they have feelings for someone. Being with someone and thinking of someone else makes you realize your feelings just might be deeper than you thought. He will hopefully come to the conclusion that he can’t avoid what he’s been feeling. I also hope that we see that one line from book 3 “I hate having feelings” I think this will help the audience understand Eric and his feelings towards Sookie.

I agree. He needs to discover what his feelings mean, and he needs to come to this realization himself. Right now, he just knows he wants her, thinks its just a physical need to claim her. At this point, I don’t think he actually loves her yet, it is still so early in their relationship. I think he has feelings for her, and he cares for her, but Sookie is with Bill, it’s not like they have committed anything to each other, so why should he be monogamous? I, too am hoping that TB Eric will start realizing that his feelings for her run much deeper than just the physical want.

I think whether it is TB Sookie or Book Sookie, it will be hard for her to walk away from seeing Eric & Yvetta in the act, and not feel threatened & insecure. However, it may also make Sookie realize that she has feelings for Eric as well, especially if she starts feeling jealous. It will be somewhat of a wake up call.

I love all of the points you made there Dee! And loved the positive spin you put on the situation! I really, really, really hope that line about Eric not liking having feelings is put in there as well. The dynamic between Sookie and Eric in Book 3 is what makes it one of my favorite books in the series. I love their friendship just as much as I love their later relationship. And I love how you can tell that Eric is developing feelings for her but he really doesn’t want to feel for her, he just wants to be able to sleep with her and move on, but he can’t help feeling more. I really, really, really, really, really hope TB brings some of that aspect to the screen, but I’m trying not to get my hopes up about it, lol.

Unfortunately I think my view comes from experience LOL, but always have to try and find some positive spin when it comes to Sookie and Eric haha. I like this type of relationship, really getting to know eachother and building that trust before you start a relationship. Also, makes it so much more fun when you want somebody for a while, you build it all up and then it happens. Friendship is very important too, so I love that aspect of their relationship. If AB is smart then he will use that line or something similar, it will explain a lot to those who havent read the books.

Everyone knows that Eric’s history is that of a womanizer. But what about right now ? I don’t he will touch anyone BUT Sookie.
