Entertainment Weekly Cast Photo

Here’s a scan from the new Entertainment Weekly courtesy of Sookehismine.

Gee, the way they’re arranging the cast for these things seems to be awfully different to last year, doesn’t it?

Yes! But by seeing red shoes I always remember Maxine Fortenberry´s comment about red shoes during her hate speech 🙂

Do they mention what shoes those are in the mag LOL…I have similar ones that are peep toe but I like those. I saw Aldo’s had very similar shoes, almost exactly like the ones she is wearing.

And how low Askars must be stooping to be approximately the same height as Paquin and Moyer. He’s usually a full head taller.

Same hair. Same height. Same clothes. Same expression. What is the difference?

      • June 11, 2010 at 4:01 am

Fuck. I hate whoever had the bright idea to change his hair.

Apparently AB was saying that AS was shooting a movie while TB was on hiatus, so his hair colour change was beyond their control. Or something to that effect…

            June 11, 2010 at 4:27 pm

It’s called “Clairol” and it takes 30 minutes. I should know. 😀

No seriously, that is a lame excuse. Of course they could have changed it back in a matter of minutes. There is a purpose, within the storyline, for Eric’s change of color we just can’t figure out what it is yet.

            • June 11, 2010 at 10:41 pm

SVB did a blog about this awhile ago, and put his Alex colour in perspective with his movie/tv rolls. Its very interesting and it has NOTHING to do with Straw Dogs!!

SVB, I just have to inform you that the EW article that accompanies these photos (which it seems revolves around a visit to the set timed around episode 6, when Talbot DOES indeed get staked, if the scene description is anything to go on) includes a passing comment by Skarsgard that a couple of weeks ago he was suspended on wires in the air (FLYING scene) in a… wait for it… NAZI UNIFORM.

          JUST SAYIN’…

            • 27 MASpencer
              June 11, 2010 at 5:39 pm

Well, I THINK I did… we’ll have to wait and see to get the full scoop, because I’m not sure why Eric would be wearing an S.S. uniform in the PRESENT day.

But since they established that vampires can change their hair, it could be that he cut his hair like that back in WWII to blend in better, and disguised himself as a Nazi soldier to feed on the dead and dying on the European battlefields. And this flying scene was a flashback.

So THAT would mean that he changed his hair BACK to that style, in order to (presumably) pose as a soldier who was turned. Or something like that.

Can I say before I thought wow MAS was right I thought of his junk in a harness? LOL. I still don’t see how it fits to why its dyed now tho, wait do you think it was dyed back then too?

              June 11, 2010 at 5:42 pm

The darker hair simply makes it more authentic. As we saw from the infamous foil scene, Eric isn’t a natural blonde… at least, not as blonde as he is with a little help.

In other words, Gestapo officers didn’t get no stinkin’ highlights. LOL!

                June 11, 2010 at 5:46 pm

LOL. Ok I can buy that. so do you think Eric was trying to take out Russell back then and missed his chance? Wasn’t he on a misson back then too? Gah! Nazi intigue!

                  June 11, 2010 at 5:51 pm

I honestly have no idea how the details will play out. I just think that changing the hair is part of a disguise to get to Russell now.

And that DEFINITELY seems to be supported! Which is AWESOME, because the thought of Eric Northman KILLING NAT-ZIS sends me into MAJOR spontaneous orgasm territory.

But yeah, I still can’t believe you called it. wow. applause applause. (even if its not for the hair, you did say he’d be impersonating a Nazi, so you should get credit for that). congrats, MAS.

So how long do you think until the “Eric was a Nazi” campaign comes over here? I’m thinking that was a bad idea on AS’s part to drop a bomb like that out of context.. even if it is good for us and our rumination purposes.

Oh, a couple of the ladies at The Nest are ALREADY jumping to that conclusion.

Seriously, people. I know that Alan Ball hasn’t cast Eric in the greatest light so far, but do you REALLY think he’s ACTUALLY going to make him into a NAZI?!?

                    Yeah… NO.

RUSSELL, however, obviously has some very nefarious fascist plans– and was somehow involved with the Nazis during their reign of terror. So if BILL makes his suprising pledge of alliegance to HIM– even if it IS to protect Sookie– that’s going to look really, REALLY bad.

                      June 11, 2010 at 6:13 pm

I totally think you are on to something with the Supe-Eugenics. But I wonder if SA doesn’t ally herself with RE because she wants Sookie to herself, so she amnesiates Russell and Eric. hmm. Or maybe its her way out of the marriage..

And it would look really terrible for Bill, that’s a shame. I think I’m in the minority of liking QSA, but I hope she doesn’t help RE.

Guys, I think it’s best to continue this discussion in the More Intrigue in Bon Temp post since it is sort of a continuation of the theories posted there. This post is about the cast photos for now. Also, do me a favor and stay away from commenting on what the BL’s have to say. I fear it will derail the posts entirely! lol Let’s just stick to theories about the plots. Thanks!

Sophie-Anne’s kind of a wild card to me right now. I’m not sure SHE knows what she’s doing… and she might just be an easy dupe, whose strings Russell knows how to pull to get her to go along with his plan. Or she might be straight-up evil.

But I think Russell may still be the main mastermind here. And he might end up stabbing Sophie-Anne in the back (or trying to) as soon as he marries her (assuming they even make it that far). It would be a similar situation to Sophie-Anne’s marriage in the books.

Anyway, we’ll see. Whatever happens, it sounds JUICY.

Well, his hair was blonde in the viking flashbacks too and they certainly didn’t have dye back then. 😉

                • June 11, 2010 at 11:47 pm

Actually Vikings did bleach their hair. I think that’s why Eric was shown in foils. Apparently they wanted hair to make their hair to be as light in color as possible. Men were more likely than the women to bleach.

                  June 12, 2010 at 12:45 am

My hair is about the same color. If I left it untreated, it would be bleached by the sun– and very much was when I was younger. Now, I highlight it, and my roots look surprisingly dark when it’s growing out. Just as a point of reference.

The EW photos are definitely promoting a triangle, huh? I just wish that we had Pam as well.

I think this pic is totally hot and I can’t wait to get my copy in the mail. I love the way that AS is sprawled out because it just oozes possessiveness and confidence. I don’t know what EW does on its photo shoots, but they definitely seem to bring out the best in AS and the rest of the cast.

    Hello everyone–
enturing out of lurkdom to say how much I love this blog! I’m a TB fan first and foremost, but I’ve read two of the books (so far) and enjoyed them very much. For me, show and books are truly two separate entities, with their own unique pleasures. This is the first place I’ve found that combines intelligent discourse with a healthy appreciation for the Viking. Decent grammar, spelling, and astute analysis all in one place–will wonders never cease?

To keep on topic: I can’t wait to get my hot little hands on this EW–that cast photo looks amazing. We get our subscription delivered to a P.O. box, and some of the juiciest issues have a way of…never arriving. I may have to go postal (groan…sorry) if this puppy isn’t there tomorrow.

Oh, and before I forget–fun fact: I adopted my cat from CH’s editor, the ever-awesome Ginjer Buchanan.

Welcome Susan!!! just wait until you get to the rest of the books, especially if youre a viking fan. Book 3 is when the books pick up.

  22. June 11, 2010 at 5:03 am

I DM’d you a present on twitter babe.

    The cast picture:

    1. Where the hell is Kristin??? I want to see her in more things seeing as she got regular cast status this year.
    2. WTF is all the guys hair now dark. Ryan even looks dark too *sad panda*
    3. Can i please be in a sandwich with SM and AS… i normally don’t ‘feel’ anything for SM but he is looking might fine here. i can understand why BB like Bill only if they see SM as Bill.
    4. I find it funny that in the other picture in this spread that Bill is very messy in feeding, where Eric isn’t. Same as in the show, thought we haven’t seen Eric feed all to much.
    5. I can’t wait till Monday… i’ll be ‘watching’ it on Twitter with my American friends, then acquiring a copy in the few hours afterward 🙂

  23. 89 SusanMy
    June 11, 2010 at 5:09 am

    Thanks Dee!

OK, this is embarrassing to admit, but I actually started with book 4. Reason #1: it was the only one my library had available at the moment I had a hankering to read ’em. Reason #2: I’d heard that it was very Eric-centric. Yes, I am pathetic. Even weirder, I read DITF next. This is completely out of character for me (a person who refuses to watch a movie if I’ve missed even the first minute of it), but reading those two did make me want to start properly from the beginning of the series, which I intend to do asap.

    • June 11, 2010 at 5:18 am

Alex’s face is the focal point of the picture. And his body dominates it. He is definitely the alpha. Most of the other people in the pic are facing towards him or are inclined towards him in some way. He hand is claiming Anna’s knee. SM is on the periphery and though his arm is around her body his hand is not on her, claiming her. 😀

    June 11, 2010 at 5:46 am

That second pic is interesting. I’m treating them as characters not actors in this one because of the pose. Sookie is facing Eric and thrusting her bosom at him and wrapping her leg around him and he is clasping her towards him with his big, broad hand on her hip. *pause* *fans self*
Bill is trying to hold on but he’s fighting a losing battle. OK, that last comment might be wishful thinking. 😆

    • June 11, 2010 at 6:05 am

I love what you are seeing here. I totally agree with you. These pictures coupled with the Official HBO Cast picture (Garden of Eden) that Sookie is starting to move more towards Eric. In both these pictures and the garden one, Bill is clinging to Sookie, while Sookie just has her body against him.

Bill is most certainly fighting a losing battle. The only thing that could help him out is AE running down the street.

also,, have a look at her left arm, its almost like shes trying to push away from bill…and i love how bill has such little couch space..hes way in the corner!

    • 100 SusanMy
      June 11, 2010 at 3:30 pm

Oh, I couldn’t agree more. Her boobs are actually mushed against Eric’s chest (see contact wrinkle on his yummy gray tee) and Bill looks like he’s hanging onto her for dear life as her unenthusiastic left hand makes halfhearted contact w/his leg (thanks to his desperate grip on her arm). Poor Bill–she’s going, going…soon to be gone. And yes, I’ve looked at this snap too many times, and with too much attention to detail to befit a 39-year-old married, mother of one with another in the oven.

Which reminds me–this bun was conceived right around the time SVB posted the “Sex is Not the Enemy” video in Sunday Skars. I’m just sayin’…

So long as the baby doesn’t come out “Viking,” DH need never know. And man, dark-haired and short as we both are, a Nordic-looking infant would really stand out. I’d have to blame it on one seriously recessive gene.

LOL! Eric/AS eyecandy does have quite a way of stimulating the ovaries, yes? Glad to know I’m not the only one who’s found him “inspirational”. My husband remains amused by my fangirliness (as he nurses his own understandable crush on DAW–hell, I have a girl-crush on her, she’s so lovely).

I actually really like both Alex and Eric as boys’ names, but it might feel odd to give him (if it were a “he”) a name that calls to mind such hotness. Our son’s name was inspired by Benjamin Franklin–brilliant, but unsexy (to me, anyway, although he was quite the ladies’ man in his time) as well as its Hebrew meaning. Maybe Alexander as a middle name? And only the gang over here will know why I chose it…;)

Huh. I just realized (in re-checking the dates) that I watched (and rewatched…many times) this video a few months after SVB originally posted it. So, while it DID, in fact, get me pregnant, conception did not coincide with the original posting, but rather, with the time *I* discovered the video on this wonderful, wonderful blog. In any event, I highly recommend it for those wishing to conceive.

Returning to topic, EW has not yet arrived in my hot little hands, but I, too, love the red shoes (’tis a vicarious love, as I’m past the point of teetering on heels that size without breaking an ankle). I also want to be Ana’s hip in the second pic, much as I desire to be Eric’s martini glass as shown in that recent promo…

Mmm.. I find the second a bit unnatural… But the first one is fun. The actress of Jessica is one of the most beautiful women. An Jason too, he looks like a good boy, lol… He seemed a lot of fun in the interviews at the fan thing. They way they have being arrenged is niceee 😀 Love AS, of course, so relaxed in his own world, lol.

You can make a rather nice Sookie/Eric pic by cropping off the extraneous bits of that group shot. You end up with Bill’s paw hovering over Sookie’s left boob, but it’s still a nice composition.

Has anyone else noticed that Dennis O’Hare, in the Truebies & Newbies clip, is wearing a large ring on his index finger? Pennyd made a funny observation that we are detail obsessed, but that ring is large and I wonder if it has any relationship to the one Eric wears on the chain around his lovely neck. Or maybe the guy just likes large rings. lol.

I don’t know if this belongs here, but I just had to post it somewhere. From the Washington Post’s review:

“Sookie asks her local vampire sheriff, Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard), to help her find Bill. “True Blood” now completely belongs to Skarsgard’s beguilingly strong performance; although Paquin and Moyer are still the stars of the show, the camera loves Skarsgard more than anyone. So long, Bill Compton — I’ve learned from teenage girls how to switch vampire allegiances, and I’m Team Eric now.”

This is quite promising, from another review

“The biggest surprise, though? Sookie isn’t a dumbie. I don’t know if this will stick, but Sookie has always been painted as good hearted and well meaning, but often using her telepathic powers as an easy crutch to solve mysteries. But after the events of the past two seasons – or perhaps because its her sweetie Bill who has been stolen – Sookie’s wised up. She puts clues together, takes action, and starts kicking some serious butt. Who knows if it will continue – but for now, I like it.”

Probably our worst dreams could become true..about all the Bill-do.the.right.thing.and-sacrifice-himself-for-Sookie..

That’s what Moyer said about Bill at the New York Post

PW: But knowing him takes Bill to a very dark place this year.
Stephen: Yes. That’s very true. I think the most interesting thing is that for better or for worse, Bill will do anything – ANYTHING — to protect Sookie. Even if it means losing himself. It’s like this crazy protective instinct in him. He’ll massacre anyone, even himself, and go so far away from who he’s become to protect her. One wonders even if it’s to the detriment of Sookie in some respects because he’s willing to go so far. And that’s a really interesting thing to play – how protective you are of the person you love?

PW: So what you’re saying is Bill might smile?
Stephen: [laughs] You never know! I think it’s interesting because obviously everyone is fascinated by the Eric/Sookie stuff. And the so called love triangle with Sookie/Bill/Eric is beautifully played out. But what’s interesting about Bill is that you know he’s a solid anchor for Sookie. And that creates a great dynamic for somebody much more Machiavellian, like Eric. So we see she’s got the choice of the guy who’s out for himself and the one who will be her ultimate protector. For a woman in that situation, she’d probably want a little mixture of both. I find that really interesting

      Exqueese me??? Bakingpowder???

      • 170 pennydreadful
        June 11, 2010 at 11:25 pm

Machiavellian describes someone who is ruthlessly cunning and not above using deception to get what he wants. For someone who is Machiavellian, “the ends justify the means.” Quite frankly, I think it’s a more accurate description of Bill. lol

Yes it is. Either SM is as delusional about Bill as the BL’s or he’s trying to avoid spoiling. Yet, how can he not know by now that “Machiavellian” perfectly describes Bill and his ‘mission’? Will we not get the reveal this year or will we have to go through yet another season of fakety-fake hero Bill? I’m not sure I can stand it…

          • 173 Freyja

That could be a foreshadowing for Eric to come. Because we know from season 2 that Eric is all about himself, like in Club Dead (book), but in the end of the season he could be changing. Hence “I don’t like having feelings”.

I’m beginning to think so as well. SM has, more than once, disparaged Eric’s character and built up his own. This HAS to be more than spoiler avoidance..I think he’s trying to keep up the illusion of his character being the hero.

      • 183 MASpencer
        June 11, 2010 at 11:40 pm

Machiavellian means a tendency to gain influence and domination over others through manipulation/deception (its both a political and psychological term) based on the principles of the political philosopher Machiavelli, who wrote ‘Il Principe’ (‘The Prince’). The general idea is that maintaining a stable state (which requires that “The Prince” maintain his power, because a state without a solid head is in peril) is the highest good. Thus, keeping the ILLUSION of nobility to gain the favor of your subjects is paramount– but actually BEING noble in NOT, and can actually be a detriment to your rulership as it undermines the goal of SELF-preservation.

Generally speaking, dictators (“benevolent” or otherwise) are big proponents of Machiavelli’s ideologies.

This definitely speaks to how we’ve seen Eric portrayed in the show thusfar, but doesn’t suggest that he has a very deep understanding of the character, in my opinion. Furthermore, it could be said that Bill does the EXACT same thing on a smaller, less political scale.

        So… pffft.

      • 184 legalease
        June 11, 2010 at 11:45 pm

I know actors have a tendency to protect their characters, but I so don’t agree with this. Freyja, Machiavellian: “the employment of cunning and duplicity in statecraft or in general conduct” It’s generally not used to complement someone. Because Bill is definitely NOT cunning or duplicitous in any way, shape or form, huh? He’s just a con artist and a grifter, but he’s not Machiavellian. Whatever! Bill the eternal victim.

Yes, he’s definitely given the BL’s their arguments and justifications for this season. I guess it’s okay to do all sorts of horrible things if it’s to protect someone you profess to love. Oh darling, I know I just drained this stripper and fucked Lorena senseless, but I was doing it for you don’t you know? I’m so sick of the patronizing BS that Sookie must be protected like she’s some delicate child.

Eric looks out for himself, but he also looks out for Sookie, dammit! It doesn’t have to be either/or. Sorry, but both Bill and Eric have Machiavellian tendencies and try to protect Sookie. I refuse to categorize them as one or the other or buy into this line that Sookie has to make this type of false choice between them. Nice try!

Now after saying all of that, I do wonder if Eric will have to make a choice this season between himself or his interests and Sookie and he chooses the former. Maybe he chooses enacting vengeance over helping her and she gets hurt in the process? I don’t know if this is just SM’s opinion of the characters or if he’s informed by something that happens in the actual story.

Eric is the book did watch out for Sookie but not much on show yet. On the show, Eric did protected Sookie from the explosion and cover his body over her. Bill did most of his protecting Sookie in season 1 and 2. Bill is Sookie’s bodyguard.

In season 3 we will see Eric start to watch over Sookie because Bill not around. I prefer Sookie taking care of herself instead of some guy protecting her.

Stephen is just doing his job of selling Bill and Sookie and I have no problems of it.

            June 12, 2010 at 12:03 am

Right, but he’s talking about the characters, at least he’s talking about Bill, in terms of what happens in Season 3 so I just assumed he was also describing Eric in terms of what happens in Season 3.

And I’m totally with you on Sookie taking care of herself and I hope we get a lot more of that this season. I understand there’s a need for some protection since she’s a human (or so we think) navigating her way through this menacing supernatural world, but she’s not that fragile. Bill’s type of “protection” seems to mean keeping her from growing and learning new things about this ever-expanding world. If she does turn out to have some fairy power or “microwave fingers”, she will more than likely need less protecting as the series goes on.

Sookie found out that she not human and she has powers. Sookie has to grow up and make her own decision and decide what she wants in mate.

Bill has not been telling Sookie the truth at all and she found him always lying to her.

I wonder if Eric is going to repeat the same mistake what Bill does. Will Eric be honest with her and will he tell her the real truth. Can Eric trust Sookie?

Eric in the book did tell Sookie the truth but I don’t Eric on show will.

I’m kind of with you, LLE. He’s not ENTIRELY wrong to describe Eric as Machiavellian– it’s definitely a part of Eric’s character arc, even if it is a slightly superficial way to view him.

And I can understand his inclination to sympathize and identify with his character. And he may even have been TRYING to stoke the “team wars”… rabble-rouser. LOL.

Whatevs. If I’m going to have a sense of humor about it, I’d say that BOTH characters use deception and manipulation to achieve their ends. Eric just GETS AWAY with it… because he’s AWESOME like that… while Bill gets hung out to dry. Ha.

I’m sure his comments were all in good fun. I’d rather just leave it at that.

Yes, Eric’s no saint (nor does he pretend to be) and he certainly tries to use deception to get what he wants. However, as we’ve seen…unlike Bill, Eric’s not very good it. Remember when Lorena said, “for a vampire, you’re a terrible liar”? lol

As Eric says to Sookie in the FotS sanctuary, “Bill would slaughter every child here to rescue you.” That’s not being protective…that’s being a dangerous, sociopathic, unpredictable loose cannon. Much in the same way that Bill “protected” her by slaying her aged wheelchair-bound pedo uncle. However, he stood idly by while Lorena tried to drain Sookie. (Thank goodness for Godric’s timely intervention or we would have only had two seasons of TB 😛 ) Noticing a pattern here?

          • June 12, 2010 at 12:19 am

Even Bill himself says it when he rushes into FOTS…. Let her go or everyone here will die (not sure they are the exact words, just what my memory says). Bill isn’t above taking any or all means of keeping Sookie in the dark and naive. I hope that there is a conversation between Sookie and Eric where Eric is disgusted when how little information that Sookie knows (I know Eric does talk about Were’s but they have only come up within this season).

Bill’s type of ‘protection’ isn’t healthy for either person.. and not one i would subscribe to in any form

I can’t figure out if SM is clueless, in denial, or really good at selling his character, ie. lying. In the commentary he does with AS, he says that he thinks AB is a genius for making the humans the baddies instead of the vampires.

I can’t figure out if SM is clueless, in denial, or really good at selling his character, ie. lying.

I’m pretty sure it is a combination of all three. First, I doubt AB has given any of the actors the ‘secrets’ to their characters’ overall arc. Second, SM is bound to have something of a clue by now where Bill is headed he just doesn’t want to face it. And third, he told ‘The Vault’ ‘you will not fucking believe what they are doing to my character this season’ so by now he’s GOT to be lying when he continues this ‘victim’ spiel.

Didn’t SM diss Eric alot last Year to? Well we all know that SM has not read the Books so is only going by ABs version of Bill. I watched the Interviews, an in SMs he said Bill represents pure love for Sookie, an maybe later down the line Eric is a different kind of love for Sookie, or lust, respect. He said Sam is a different kind of male whose dependable, there for her, honest,an truthful, an Alcide represents a physical presence she feels safe with. I was pissed off hearing him basically say Bill’s love for Sookie is the only real an pure one atleast thats how i took that statement, an Eric’s a different kind or lust. SM has clearly not read the Books, an believes that AB will keep Bill as the only one who really loves Sookie, an everything he does is for her an blah flippin blah, which worries me that maybe AB has confided in SM that he intends to keep pushing the Bill an Sookie Relationship, an we may get an Eric an Sookie fling, but anything beyond that is not gonna happen. I honestly donno how much more i can take of the Bill an Sookie Storyline. I dont think i can sit thru another Season of Bill do right an anything he does has a justification. I got the impression that every bad thing Bill does this Season is to protect Sookie, so again AB is giving Bill a justification for his actions, instead of pointing out that Bill is a Vampire, an isn’t a saint. I mean i’ve NEVER heard AS talk badly about SMs Character Bill, all i’ve heard him say is Eric thinks Sookie can do better then Bill, an that he’s not gonna let a Baby Vamp stop him lol. I’ve never heard him question SMs Character Bill’s feelings, or motives for Sookie, an say things like he’s out for himself the way SM talks about Eric.

Oh do not worry about that…Alexander in his very charming way said at the Premiere that Bill and Sookie are NOW the main couple but things will change eventually in this season…
Alex read ’till book 6 and he promised to read them all so i dunno how much he knows…
But don’t worry….i don’t know why..but when Alex speaks i believe him LOL
He said also that he knows the love the fans have for Sookie and Eric and their relationship will happen at a certain point in the show…
At The Ultimate fans when Ausiello asked to Ball if Sookie it’s just attracted to Eric becouse of the blood he quite stand up and said “it’s much more that that” and it’s not a game for Eric, anymore” talking about Eric…

I wouldn’t take what the actors say too seriously. SM and AS joke around ALOT in their interviews and both say things about each others characters even in front of each other. When you read it, can come out different but when you see it, you understand that usually SM is being sarcastic.

In the EW interview SM did say that Bill represents pure love, and maybe down the line Eric will represent a different type of love or lust or respect.

I have just come back online to find that most of this thread is snarking about Stephen Moyer.

    It’s stopping now.

The actor’s relationships and egos are completely inconsequential. No matter how they feel, they don’t write the show so they can just suck it up like the rest of us.

          June 12, 2010 at 4:28 am

No idea… but judging from the EW story, it has to be sometime before episode 6. I was thinking that it COULD be from the episode 2 flashback– but if that’s the case, in my opinion, he needs to have a wig on, unless they’re going to COMPLETELY poo all over their own mythology.

Which I think they probably will.

I mean, I get that hair is dead, so technically, it won’t grow back while Jessica’s hymen will. Fine. Loophole. Got it.

But that would mean that, once a vampire’s hair is gone, it’s GONE. And it doesn’t grow back. Sadly, that means that– if they’re going to stick with this logic– Eric can color his hair blonde again, but it will remain this length for the rest of the series.

I suspect, however, that they’re just going to flush logic down the toilet and show Eric in his WWII flashback with SHORT hair, as well. Otherwise, I will stand up and salute them, as the unofficial continuity police in my household. LOL.

          • June 12, 2010 at 4:46 am

AB said in the Q&A that your hair and nails continue to grow after you’re dead. It’s not what really happens but it is a myth so AB is following that. He said he simply did this so that he can change their hair if they’re gonna have a long series. I can understand that point, it will be hard to keep their hair exactly the same for so many years. Plus they can just change characters looks more easily.

Yeah exactly, your skin dehydrates and pulls away from your hair and nails. But some people hear about that happening and it’s a myth I guess so some people believe it. I would think he’d do more research on it but maybe he decided to just go with it anyways.

                  June 12, 2010 at 9:43 am

He probably got confused with Six Feet Under mithology. I think he wanted to make a different point, maybe. As vampires are undead beings, they’re not exactly dead, not realy alive… A wound would heal almost instantly, but cuting your hair or nails does not determine a wound, unless you pull them out. As an example, in the hair follicle there are stem cells not only responsible for hair’s natural groth AFTER it falls (it’s actually a replacement function with specific phases that occur individualy per follicle), but also for the healing process of skin wounds. I think that was what he meant. Otherwise, hair or nails growing is like part of a cells renewal process, that gets altered with time in humans, thus aging occurs. That does not happen in vampires.
AND… I.m making my own head spin. Do I make any sense at all? Nevermind…

              On the other hand…

What I DO like about this tactic (that is, showing him in WWII with short darker hair), is that it makes 100% crystal clear that Eric’s hair change is directly linked to his Nazi disguise.

Viewers will think nothing of it until they realize it’s A FLASHBACK and wait… what’s that? Eric’s hair is EXACTLY THE SAME AS IT AS NOW, WHICH IS DISTINCTLY DIFFERENT FROM WHAT IT WAS AT THE END OF LAST SEASON.

If this winds up being the case, the fact that he purposefully changed his hair to disguise himself would be explicitly implicit. LOL.

Just watched all of the EW video interviews… This guy is just ridiculously sexy! In about 1:54 his left eyebrow soars to the sky, by my count, 10 times! He has such an expressive face. I got a kick out of some older postings here, SVB, where you say Alan Ball has a leash on it. Couldn’t be more accurate! Eric’s usually not the lighthearted fellow that Alex is, but still, that eyebrow has only gone up a couple of times in two seasons!

In another interview Kristen Bauer Von Straten discribes Alex as “big, beautiful, smart, funny and kind” and says how happy she is that most of her scenes are with him. What is wrong with this guy?! Something must be, although we can probably take a guess that’s it’s not physical, with his penchant for doing his nude scenes completely naked. There’s got to be something, we all have our flaws.

All I can say is, Kate Bosworth, you better be a peach, because if you aren’t just about the sweetest girl alive, well, you don’t deserve what you’ve got! 🙂
