We have a great little community here, and it’s growing every day. As with any community, it’s time that we had some guidelines to keep things sane, and most importantly to keep them fun.

We are happy to entertain any batshit crazy idea here, about any plotline or character – as long you can make a rational argument to support it, and you’re not making a personal attack when you do so.

With that in mind, if you think you might like to participate we ask that you be mindful of the following.

1. Comments containing a link are held in moderation.

This is a blog. It is not a forum. Is there a difference? Actually, yes there is. On a blog, the author (ie. me) decides on the content – and if I find something interesting I get to write a post about it. On a forum, everyone and anyone can post whatever they like. Please remember there is a difference. We’re getting really, really tired of going all Northman on people who insist on posting off topic links in the comments.

Posting a link to an old article or interview is fine if it adds to discussion, but will not completely derail the post. Posting a link to a brand new spoiler vid of Skars half naked, that will generate 100 OT comments in the time it takes me to go to the grocery store is NOT fine, so please don’t do it. And you know I’m going to make a post about that shit as soon as I see it anyway.

This is not to ruin anyone’s fun – it is to keep posts on topic, and the number of comments per post at reasonable levels. Posts with 400 comments, 100 of which are off topic are not only frustrating for casual readers to wade through, but they also splinter discussion if and when I do make a new post.

DO NOT circumvent this by “disguising” links – eg. youtube dot com. If you have a compulsive need to be the first to post news, there are plenty of forums on which you can find this validation. Even better, start your own blog. I will pimp you.

Don’t post links to torrent sites – they will be deleted.

2. Characters are fair game – people are not.

As far as I know, Sookie doesn’t really care what any of us think about her, her love life, or her major life choices. Sookie doesn’t have any feelings, because she is a fictional character. We should be able to say what we like about Sookie, without causing anyone drastic offence. What DOES cause offence is when we start saying that people who think Sookie should make certain choices or do certain things must all be fucked in the head. There is a difference here – and that difference is the line between being frustrated with a fictional character, and mounting a personal attack on a real person.

Personal attacks won’t fly, even when they’re on crazy people.

3. I don’t care about the actor’s personal lives.

You won’t find endless posts about the True Blood cast walking their dogs, or a running commentary on their choice of partner here. And that’s because I don’t care. I have enough of my own personal drama to keep me entertained, without obsessing over theirs.

I love the characters and the story of the both the books and the show – the private lives of those concerned are not something I want to discuss in depth here.

I do, however reserve the right to post as many pictures of Skars in varying states of drunkenness and/or undress, whether in character or not – as I want!

ABOUT SOOKIEVERSE

My ramblings on the Sookie Stackhouse books, and the HBO series True Blood. Everyone I know is already half crazed with my plot and character assassinations, conspiracy theories, theme explorations and general obsessing, so now I'm going to share it all with you. Spoilers and Viking worship are rampant...you have been warned!
