Holy Naked Viking!

How the hell Sookie is actually managing to look at his FACE with that in front of her, I do not know.

HBO plan to air another promo during the “Lost” finale on ABC this Sunday. The promo will contain a QR code that you can use to view a “hidden” video containing the scene above.

This process sounds very complicated and involves a whole lot of effing around. Not sure what the point is really.

Soooo……what’s happening in this picture?

I guess they embedded this clip because Eric is ACTUALLY NAKED and you can’t show that much hot on a network!! People might die!!

At first, I was like WTF are they making us go through to see this scene. But I have already DL’ed the neoreader app which they recommend. Also, tested it out with some codes they provided on this site: http://truebloodtwitter.com/qr/ …It’s actually pretty easy now that i’ve tested it out. Once you Dl the app, all you have to do is go to the app(dont take pic with regular camera on phone) place the phone in front of the code and click scan, then brings you right to the site where you’ll be able to view it.

Sucks that I’ll have to FF through 2 hours of lost. Luckily I know some people who watch this show, so i’ll just have them call me once they see this promo.

But DAMN he is looking HOTT, there is no way Sookie won’t be tempted even a little

    • May 21, 2010 at 11:18 pm

So you have to watch the clip on the phone? That will be a mighty tiny plenty.

I downloaded the ap, but when I’ve tried to use similar ones in the past, they were beyond me. It’s comforting to know I can practice first. I might just be able to pull this off.

        May 21, 2010 at 11:21 pm

don’t worry you’ll get it, the neoreader is very simple I promise. Like I said, all i had to do was go to the app, point the phone towards code and on the bottom there was a scan button, you just click that button and once it scans the code then it will tell you it found the code and you click continue or cancel. Once you hit continue, it will bring you right to the clip.

Renee I have the same problem. I just downloaded an app for it on my phone and I can’t get it to work. At least there’s time to figure it out! haha

Holy hotness, Batman! I hope this clip goes up on youtube fast (*bats eyelashes*) b/c I’m not tech-savvy enough to figure all that stuff out to watch it myself. LOL.

It’s possible that it can also work if someone takes a pic of the code on their tv, thats if it’s clear enough and then try it on your phone.

Yeah I have a blackberry and I downloaded the app but its just not registering the code? Like I get to to point where it wasn’t to scan but it never actually reads it. It’s strange, I’m going to keep playing with it to see if I can figure it out. I want this clip as soon as I can get it!! 😉

Sooooo, do we think he is down there in the basement getting freaky with Yvetta? Or, was he up in his office and speed-vamped downstairs to present himself like an award at the Gracious Plenty Academy of Awesome?

    • 27 Charlotte
      May 21, 2010 at 11:06 pm

      LOL!

I think its probably the latter. I feel like he wouldn’t be getting freaky with anyone in the basement.

      • 28 Lotus
        May 21, 2010 at 11:11 pm

I wonder if there’s a secret entrance to the basement, because in the very first promo (I think?) we saw Sookie after coming down the stairs and Pam’s backside going back up the stairs. She is obviously staring at him then, because the expression on her face is a bit startled and in a later promo they show Pam’s mischievous little grin as she exits the room. But if he’s just hanging out in the basement, why is he naked??

    • 29 millarca21
      May 21, 2010 at 11:07 pm

He seems to be standing with his hands on his hips thrusting the GP forward. My first thought was she’d walked in on him with Yvetta, but now my brain is actually functioning again I see his hair is not at all mussed up, and from the angle of his arms and body I think perhaps he is wearing jeans and has his hands in the back pockets. I think they’re funning with us.

      • 30 Lotus
        May 21, 2010 at 11:18 pm

That’s possible. Alan Ball said in an earlier Q&A back in October that “Alexander Skarsgard appears without most of his clothes in the very first episode of S3.” But then in interviews as recent as January, members of the cast are saying he’s already done one or two nude scenes. Guess we’ll find out on Sunday! 😉

      • 31 VikingLover
        May 22, 2010 at 1:32 am

Yeah, I agree. The way his arms are positioned and the way he’s standing makes me think that he’s wearing pants. If he were naked he would not be standing like that. Otherwise it looks as if he’s pushing his junk in her face. lol Plus I highly doubt that Sookie would be standing there calmy having a conversation with him if he were naked.

          May 22, 2010 at 11:48 pm

With you allllllll the way. Nice body, but he does nothing for me with that hair. I just can’t get past it. It’s not Eric, it’s just some model who was turned. Meh.

      • May 22, 2010 at 12:01 am

I hate to admit it but he really doesn’t feel like Eric to me anymore either.

            May 22, 2010 at 3:56 am

You know who I picture when reading the books… Sawyer from Lost, minus the Southern accent. Funny that the promo is on during the Lost finale.

              May 22, 2010 at 11:52 pm

I still picture AS when reading, but it’s definitely S2 Skars. And definitely his voice *thud*

I totally love Sawyer, but I just can’t picture him as a Viking! Maybe I’ve been too biased though.

              • 40 millarca21
                May 22, 2010 at 11:58 pm

I picture AS, because I didn’t start reading till I’d seen S2 so AS is Eric in my mind, with S2 hair unless I’m reading a part that specifically talks about the long hair.

I love Sawyer, too, and have a hard time seeing him in this role. It’s only AS for me now. He really personifies the character of Eric for me, long hair or no long hair. 😉

  13. May 21, 2010 at 11:06 pm

If he’s actually naked, that only furthers the question of how the hell can she be looking at his face? Or even talking to him? Or even upright? I’d have swooned and fainted way before I got this close.

Ok I found an exact time, it was on True Blood Facebook, but it has since disappeared. So maybe it was wrong or they don’t want us to know and they actually expect us to watch the 4 hours of the Lost finale.

I saw a better picture of this on another site, and someone pointed out that you can see a woman’s arm in the background. It appeared that she was chained with her arms up in the air. Look over his shoulder in the background. Not sure if that is right, though.

  16. May 21, 2010 at 11:19 pm

Guys it was just brought up that in the expanded shot of this pick there is someone chained up behind him to his left… Yvette… i know that someone wrote in their s3 fic that Eric thinks better during sex… i can’t for the life of me remember who… so maybe he likes them tied up… Not sure how i like this. Or Like Renee said somewhere, maybe they suspect her of something and are ‘questioning’ her??

That would be me. Yeah! It would be just about nudging her. And now I have the most amazing images playing in my mind which are totally incompatible with Sookie standing there looking at his face having a conversation with him. If he were naked, she’d have gone troppo and stormed out or fainted.

  19. May 21, 2010 at 11:25 pm

Hmm…. shirtless askars could only be topped by completely naked askars!

      May 21, 2010 at 11:29 pm

      Any new theories Renee?

      • May 21, 2010 at 11:41 pm

Nah. Just waiting for confirmation of the first one. Since the last promo showed Yvetta in sexy lingerie on Eric’s desk, it doesn’t seem likely that they’d start ep. 1 with a hardcore bondage scene.

What question I REALLY want answered is, “What is she?” Human? Shifter? Were? Were Witch?

        • May 21, 2010 at 11:42 pm

Is that towards the end of the 1:30 trailer??? *runs to re-watch*
This is what i wrote earlier:

Yvette… i know that someone wrote in their s3 fic that Eric thinks better during sex… i can’t for the life of me remember who… so maybe he likes them tied up… Not sure how i like this. Or Like Renee said somewhere, maybe they suspect her of something and are ‘questioning’ her??

            May 21, 2010 at 11:57 pm

I’m thinking that image of Yvetta with the bustier is from episode 4, seeing as she is credited in it at IMDB and Eric need not be naked for that, 😉 And I think all signs point to her pole dance to be in epispde 3.

            • 70 Lotus
              May 22, 2010 at 12:13 am

I’m going to say now that I think Yvetta is with Pam in Eric’s office, because at some point Eric goes to Jackson and gets involved in the Sookie/Alcide situation. That must be episode 4 if you believe the recent preview covers the first 4 episodes only. Unless the office scene is at the beginning of 4 and Eric shows up in Alcide’s apartment later in the episode. That could also work.

Cannot believe I’m sitting her analyzing TB, lol. I’m so fangirling right now.

                May 22, 2010 at 1:27 am

Actually I do think its Eric with Yvetta in the desk scene, mostly because I had a vision about it! lol. Here is how I imagined it went down, lol:

Eric’s Sookie-dar goes off while he is getting Yvetta off.

                Y: “AH! ah!”
                Alert! Alert!
E: “Min älskare! -I’ve got to go!”
Y: “But where are you going?” in her Czech accent.
E: “Frankly my dear, that’s not good enough!” with a mixture of Rhett Butler and Jack Bauer, as he is totally pointing to her crotch.
And we see Eric show up at Alcide’s in either late 4 or early 5.

Yeah, ok it might not happen exactly like that, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed! 😉

This cracked me up, Serena. 🙂 Sookie-dar!

Hahaha. Rhett Butler and Jack Bauer.

You could be right, of course. If it was at the beginning of that episode, there would be plenty of time for Sookie to have the scene with Eric and go back to Club Dead the second night.

        • 74 Robin
          May 21, 2010 at 11:50 pm

And, I don’t think this can be the same night we see the picture of Eric sitting on the throne watching Yvette dance in front of him, either. Seems like the clothes he was wearing while sitting on his throne are the same clothes he was wearing in the season 3 promo when he was talking with Sookie at the table. I think she is probably Were or Were Witch, considering she was wearing the wolf pelt?

          • May 22, 2010 at 12:08 am

She was wearing fox pelts, a leopard bra, and a snake torc. I figure she’s either a shifter or a were trying to disguise herself as one. Maybe most vamps couldn’t tell the difference, but, with Eric’s backstory, it looks like he has a great deal of experience with werewolves. If he realized that she was trying to pass herself off as something she wasn’t, he’d be one suspicious sheriff.

i think she’s a witch, dont vamps recognize other supes, not sure if this is so on true blood, but in the books i think they do.
i wonder if Sookie will “hear” something from Yvetta while she’s down there revealing her agenda

              May 22, 2010 at 12:16 am

Ooo, love this idea that Sookie would read Yvetta’s mind! Unless she is unable to do so, which would be strange and probably send up a red flag. Maybe Sookie will eventually be the one to uncover Yvetta’s duplicity.

oh yes, and then Sookie and Eric could console each other, and bond over their similar experience of being deceived.

            • May 22, 2010 at 12:36 am

Well, my theory is that they did recognize her as a supe, and that’s one of the reasons Pam and Eric were both so interested in her. In that clip they perked up and turned to greet her before they laid eyes on her. They smelled her coming.

What if Yvetta is from Hallow’s coven sent to spy or even distract Eric? Then she tells Hallow of Eric’s plenty as well as the amount of customers he gets a night, leading Hallow to want to own Fang and bang Eric. It’d be a perfect lead in to season 4

If the scene starts with the clip we saw in the promo, when Eric he realized that Yvette was a werewolf instead of a harmless shifter or hypenated were, would he haul her down to the basement nekkid or throw on some pants first? Bill & Lorena undress before making a mess, so maybe vamps like easy clean up. ROTF! IDK. Can’t wait ’til Sunday to find out.

              May 22, 2010 at 5:08 pm

I am also sure that they have a little bondage session down there and honestly: why not? by now, Eric is not in love with Sookie and he is a very handsome guy who can choose among the most beautiful women. In SVM his “relationship” with Dawn is also mentioned and it is made clear that she prefered and had rough sex with him. To me Eric does not neccesarily prefer this kind of sex but as expericened vampire he is quiet open to everything so if Sookie likes the more soft variant – which I assume due the abuse in her childhood – this wasn´t a great problem for him, either.
Concerning Ivetta: I think it is likely that she is a spy and I also belive that Eric is perfectly capable of judging her even if he is personally involved. I believe that Eric makes a obligatory short background check of his future employes concerning their involvement with people like the FotS or with vampires from other “states” so if something about Ivetta arouses questions, Eric will use his close contact to her to find out whats wrong about the stripper.

oh you tried it out already? that is great, glad it works. You’re welcome

might be better this way bc you can view on the comp and see it on a bigger screen

OK, I saved the QR code to my computer and uploaded it at the site and came up with this: http://facebook.com/trueblood. Now, what do I do with it? LOL.

              May 22, 2010 at 1:23 am

IOW, does this mean it directs to the TB Facebook page and we can watch it there that night, after the promo airs?

            • 108 Dee
              May 22, 2010 at 1:25 am

Yeah I got the same thing. You don’t do anything with it now, that was just for you to test out the app and code to see how it works. Now just wait for the promo on sunday and do the same thing with the QR code they’ll put up and follow same procedure as you just did. Seems like you’re set so just DVR “Lost” and you’ll be able to see this scene. Ahhhhh I can’t wait

              • 109 Dee
                May 22, 2010 at 1:27 am

sunny-no it won’t bring you to the FB page, it will bring you to the vid but have no idea where we’ll view the vid from. But it will just directly bring you there, the same way it linked you to the FB page.

                • 110 sunnynala
                  May 22, 2010 at 1:39 am

OK, so that means I’ll have to take a pic of the code with my digital camera and upload it to the same site, right? So when it reads the code it will take me directly to the video.

                  • 111 Dee
                    May 22, 2010 at 1:46 am

no you can view the video on your phone, you take the pic the same way you did with the other code. If you wanna watch it on the comp you can use your digital camera but you dont even have to do that, you can copy the url your phone will direct you to

          • 113 Krista
            May 22, 2010 at 4:50 am

ok, i think i understand how to do it now. so do you have to get your camera really close up on that freaky box looking thing so it will recognise it?

btw this is some messed up stuff making us watch something completely unrelated on a differnt network… i’m not a Truebie who likes Lost :/

              May 22, 2010 at 4:55 am

Just make sure the pic is clear I think. Sorry I didn’t read the instructions for doing this with a digital camera. But somebody brought up a good point. Those of us who will do this on our phones will be linked to a website. On top we will see the url so maybe we can post the url for everybody and everyone else can view it that way.

I think it’s low slung pants. If he was naked he’d be smirking and she’d be in a dither. She’d have turned around. No. They’re toying with us. And I, for one, am very easily toyed with when it comes to this subject.

oh my. it’s christmas in May 🙂

my theory is that miss Sookie ran straight to Fangtasia to accuse Eric of taking Beeeeeeehl (hence the lilac dress), and he’s showing her that there is no one being held in the dungeon.

    • 129 A Northern Soul
      May 21, 2010 at 11:55 pm

    • 130 Lotus
      May 21, 2010 at 11:59 pm

This theory makes sense, but it doesn’t account for one of the first video snippets where we see Sookie just coming to the bottom of the staircase in the basement, her expression at once angry and startled. We see Pam is going back upstairs, and we saw in a second preview her hilariously amazing grin of mischief as she’s looking back into the basement. So it’s almost like Sookie came upon Eric in flagrante, and then they … have a conversation?? lol. It sounds insane. How could anyone pay attention with THAT standing there?

      • 131 Robin
        May 22, 2010 at 12:01 am

Lotus, this is exactly how I see this scene playing out based on the promos we have seen so far. I think Pam brings Sookie down to the basement because she demands to see Eric or to see if Bill is in the basement.

          May 22, 2010 at 12:07 am

Yes, Robin. That makes the most sense to me. It is definitely a female down there with him. OMG, it just makes this scene even more delicious.

        May 22, 2010 at 1:49 am

        {in the basement, her expression at once angry and startled.}

I think she was angry and startled because she really believed Bill was down there being tortured by Eric. Instead she finds him having sex with some chickie and no Bill. She’s thrown for a loop.

This is blowing my mind right now. By all appearances, he has Yvetta chained to the wall in the basement and Sookie walks in on them. I imagine her feeling a sense of revulsion, fascination, maybe jealousy, possibly excitement, and Naked!Eric picking up on all of it while she’s standing two feet away.

      • 162 Lotus
        May 22, 2010 at 12:43 am

Sookie is attracted to Eric. She won’t be able to help herself. So while she may be playing him, I think that he will reject her initially and not take advantage of the situation. Not only because it’s advantageous to eventually having Sookie, but because his Queen pretty much told him not to mess with her or taste her. Eric is loyal, so while he may have serious issues with QSA, he will likely follow her directive until he no longer has reason to remain loyal.

      • 163 Dee
        May 22, 2010 at 1:09 am

I think she is playing around with him but NOT for that reason. I don’t know why Bl’s assume that considering we see in the trailer that Eric tells Sookie that he will send Alcide to go with her and watch her so he is already helping her. That scene was from Ep 2, and the skills scene she is already in Jackson. So why would she want help from Eric if he is already helping, hmmm i don’t get them. I think she is just showing Eric she can handle herself

      • 164 Ashley
        May 22, 2010 at 3:54 am

They may be playing around but its clearly not because she wants Eric to help her. Thats why Eric sent Alcide, he already agreed to help her find Bill. That doesnt even make sense. And Sookie would never get naked with Eric in order to sway him to find Bill. That is OOC for her, and if they think that they dont know her character very well.

I think the BOOK Eric is perhaps flamboyant but not AB’s or Alexanders.

TB Eric makes me terrified and turned on and delighted at once.

      • May 22, 2010 at 12:37 am

Agreed … two totally different characters as far as I’m concerned.

Book E “readers” with laughter, wears pink spandex and displays a list of other behaviors that Alexanders Eric would never do.

Book Eric is too…fruity for me. Not in a bad way though, just in the way that kind of makes me laugh at times I shouldn’t be laughing because it’s just all so cheesy.

Especially in the early books! He is much more amusing than TB Eric. Although I think we’ll see more of that playful nature in either this season or the next. There is another photo in this series where he has the most hilarious Eric! expression on his face, like he’s just so amused at who has come to visit him in the basement. It reminded me a lot of BE. However, in later SVM books, Eric seemed to lose some of that cheesiness and show off more of his B.A.M.F attitude that I now associate with the character thanks to AS’s portrayal.

          May 22, 2010 at 2:51 pm

Wellll, that’s why I love book Eric, his humor (and his long hair). His sense of humor matches my sense of humor. It’s why I’m not as fond of TB Eric. I guess I find men with a sense of humor sexier than, flat out dangerous ones. I like my men to be able to laugh at themselves easily and HAVE LONG HAIR!!!

Alex is good looking but not as good looking as he was in S1 IMO. Or even S2, when the cut aggravated me. Now in S3 from what I’ve seen, he’s not Eric at all and I don’t find him attractive, no amount of nakedness will make it so. I have to read the books while watching the show so the vision of Alex doesn’t pollute my picture of Book Eric who is so much more.

I’m not one who is over excited that I get to see Alex naked. I guess I’m more cerebral than a lot of others. I need book Eric or dream Eric’s personality to turn me on.

          Happy for everyone else though.

            May 22, 2010 at 3:08 pm

Kathy, I agree with your thoughts on book Eric. I think his personality makes him so attractive for me. I try to keep the SVM and TB separate in my mind. And, btw, I have no problem with Alex portraying Eric on TB. He is extremely sexy, those eyes! But he is definitely not our book Eric.

      • May 22, 2010 at 1:52 am

Book Eric definitely shows a different side – as Sookie describes it, he has “joir de vive” in spades. He’s flamboyant (moreso in the first books) and definitely finds humor in just about everything, which is one of the things that Sookie finds attractive about him. Honestly, I’ll be looking forward to ASkars having a chance to bring some of this to TB, just because too much Serious Eric makes him seem too much like Down and Doldrummy Beeeehl.

Now, I certainly don’t mind BAMF TB Eric. It’s extremely hot. I’m just hoping they’ll bring in some more of the spark that makes Eric, Eric as ASkars gets more screen time.

I feel he is a far superior writer to CH.

Plus the whole country is laughing at the “Sookie” screaming from Bill so AB will have no choice but to change this plot line if he wants to keep any credibility

Nop… I think hero Bill is finished… I rewatched 12th episode and he overacts much more than usually (when he appears after Sam kills the maenade). AB has shown as already how Bill really is, though not everybody will want to see it. Bill days as hero are over, luckily for the actor TB Bill is very interesting and will be able to play interesting rolls.

Yes! You should watch Rome! It was amazing, I loved it. Granted, I always have a thing for any historical type movie/show, but it was really good. Watch it when you need a break from TB.

I had no idea since I just subscribed to HBO for the first time ever just to watch True Blood. Seasons 1 and 2 are OnDemand. We have only 1 more to go to catch up. I have been getting people hooked on the books right and left and clammoring to get HBO too. I should be getting some kind of kickbacks.

I truly need to see the clip of the GP without my husband in the room, the first time. He will not be amused if I am not prepared for it. Since Askars likes to be naked, then there is a good chance for it! I am WAY too excited about this.

lol – Sookie’s cringing in embarrassment part is what would be so funny to me. That’s what I miss about this show – it doesn’t show Eric’s silly, flamboyant side. That’s such an important part to his character! He’s just not the same without it IMO.

Well, my own personal take on this is that Sookie barged into Fangtasia and possibly into Eric’s office. Pam is either too late to stop her or allows her to go in as payback for the earlier Yvetta incident. Eric tells Pam to take Sookie down to the basement while he gets rid of Yvetta and throws on some pants OR he gets rid of Yvetta, throws on some pants, then he and Pam take Sookie down to the basement to show her that Bill is not down there. He then tells Pam to scram so that he and Sookie can be alone to discuss what happened to Bill. Pam makes a snarky comment before going up the stairs. I think the look Sookie is giving Eric in the promo is because he proves to her that Bill is not in the dungeon so now she’s at a loss between feeling anger/not fully trusting what Eric is saying and believing him.

I do not believe that Eric is having sex with Yvetta in the dungeon of doom. I would be really surprised if that were the case. I just don’t see TB Eric doing that. Plus I really believe that promo clip of her on the desk is from ep 1.

      May 22, 2010 at 1:55 am

There is definitely someone in the basement/dungeon behind him. You can clearly see a raised arm. And there’s a 99.999999999998% chance that person is Yvetta.

      • 229 VikingLover
        May 22, 2010 at 2:03 am

              May 22, 2010 at 2:40 am

That does seem weird lol…Also, I saved the pic and enlarged it just to that area in the back and if that were an arm the position would be weird. A person would have their arms straight up not bent that much, maybe a little bend in the elbow but not like that. Also hard to explain until you look at it close up but the person would have to be bending down a bit a lil, only way you can explain the position of the arm like that. Who knows though, at least we find out real soon.

I agree, and some bondage is not a bad thing. Only thing I think is that people would have a negative view of tying her up where we also saw Lafayette captured and Royce killed.

                      May 22, 2010 at 3:37 am

Exactly! This is why I’m so opposed to it and why I don’t think it will be the case. Apparently they are trying to clean up his image in S3 and having him in the DOD having sex with some chick where he was holding Lafayette and were he killed Royce would not be conducive to that. If anything, it would make appear to be a psycopath. I have no problems with Eric being freaky but I just don’t want it to be in the DOD.

    • May 22, 2010 at 1:57 am

      I could definitely see:

Sookie: Where’s my BEEHL?! You’ve locked him in your basement, you bastard! Just like Lafayette!

Eric: No, my dear, Sookie. Your Bill is not in my doom chamber. Would you like to see?

      Sookie: UH YES.

      *walk down to basement*

      Eric: See? No Bill.

(The irony being that Bill’s not there, but there IS someone chained up – Yvetta.)

      Sookie: …

Eric: Like I said – no Bill.

I have a hard time believing Eric would do Yvetta in the DOD, and not on his leather couch in his office. Heck, I can see him doing her on Longshadow’s coffin before downstairs. Its like the saying, don’t shit where you eat, or more appropriately, Eric wouldn’t eat where others have shat.

I still don’t think he has pants on though. 😉 Eric’s not shy, and I want to see a full lion naked strut.

Ok, me silly,. I just remembered he did eat Royce down there,.. but that was impromptu and not necessarily by design, and that still doesn’t mean he wants to bring Yvetta down there to have sex with her, I’d think she freak anyway.

I donno if anyone else has noticed this or not, but in this Pic http://i45.tinypic.com/6opk4i.jpg if you look behind Eric on the left side of the Pic it looks like someone is chained up to a Pipe like an Arm. If im not seeing things which it really looks like an Arm to me, then i’ll assume its Yvette, an Pam takes Sookie down to the Basement, an she walks in on Eric having chained Yvette to the Pipe. I mean yes we saw Yvette in Eric’s Office in the Promo, but whose to say its the same Episode. We dont actually see who is with Yvette in that clip, it could be Pam an Yvette in Eric’s Office once Eric has left for Mississippi. I’ve heard in an Interview with Kristin Bauer that she does have a thing with a Woman this Season. Also whose to say Eric dont hook up with Yvette more then once if he is the one in the Office with her, but i have a feeling its Pam for some reason. This Season it really could be 2 different Episodes these happen in. Does it look like an Arm in that Pic or am i just seeing things?

Y’all sound like you are thinking Yvetta would be chained there against her will. If she IS chained there, I bet she’s enjoying the hell out of it and Sookie caught them in a little dirty sexy time. Which would make the situation even MORE awkward – lulz

  49. 270 Caitlin
    May 22, 2010 at 3:39 am

I also read that in the first 20 min 3 male leads are naked, 2 of them are naked together in the same scene. Obviously Eric and Bill are leads, but who do you think is the 3rd? Sam? And which two would be naked together in the same scene?

I know some people may disagree with me, but I hope Eric and Lafayette aren’t naked together, I think that would freak Sookie out and I want to see our Eric and Sookie time!

Also, do you really think HBO is going to show that much full frontal male nudity? Or will it be more of Sam’s ass like last season haha 😉

All I can tell you is that Eric looks way hot, is nekkid (my clip showed no dangler) and is willing to um…help Sookie

And I can tell you it was most amusing. Sookie was snarking at him good and pointedly not looking below the waist. LOLZ.

          May 22, 2010 at 4:12 am

NO FREAKING WAY!! Well, that’s not her dangling from the ceiling though because that was definitely not an arm. I am really shocked and confused if Yvetta is down in the DOD with Eric. I just can’t freaking believe it.

Maybe it’ll be her idea? won’t be that bad then. I have no problem with him tying her up but just do it elsewhere. If it was elsewhere I’d say oh yeah bring out kinky Eric who loves bondage. But they made it seem like its a funny scene and didn’t have anything bad to say about it and it is the nest so might be a good sign.

If it were an arm (and after more than hour manipulating the pic, it actually looks pretty much like an arm to me because it seems even to has the curve of the elbow on it) it’s not hanging from the cieling, but tied from some sort of a swing. And I have to admit, that though I can’t be completely sure there is a person, definitely there is something that looks a lot like a swing with a tied arm on it.

Let’s just hope people look past the fact that its the same place we saw Royce and Lafayette held captive. Maybe a naked AS and probably naked Natasha(Yvetta) and everything else going on in the scene, people will just focus on that. I’m also hoping it’s Yvetta’s idea and she’ll ask to be tied up.

It doesn’t when you blow it up, you also see that theres enough space next to it so you would be able to see the body but kinda looks blacked out so who knows. They might’ve messed with the image a bit.

Yup, you would be able to see a shoulder or part of the torso. It looks like maybe its just a shadow over her or something if she is chained.

      • May 22, 2010 at 4:32 am

        SO AM I.

When we first saw that pic of him in the basement shirtless I fucking KNEW they were going to do this.

All I can say is that it better be consensual. Because if it’s not…….

And I really, really don’t want full frontal nudity either. I sooooo hope they aren’t going to go there. It’s so tacky. Women’s brains operate differently to men. We don’t need to see something graphically and explicitly to find it sexually alluring. Imagination is so much better in this sort of scenario.

I am obviously a grumpy bitch today.

No, I’m with you. I guess we should just wait and see.

BTW, I just won a pass to the screening. Hope I can manage to stay awake until the Q & A! I’m planning to nap during the S2 finale, since I think I probably hate that episode the most out of all of them.

I am absolutely DUMBFOUNDED that they would do this. I am beyond shocked. It just doesn’t make any sense. No way, it can’t be. I want to see the actual clip/scene for myself because I just cannot believe they would do this. Yes, it is probably consensual but who cares? He’s down in a dirty ass dungeon (where he held Lafayette and killed Royce) having sex with a woman??

Do you think they’d really deprive us of our fantasies about the GP by actually showing us Alexander’s dangly bits? That’s whose it would be, not Eric’s. Apart from the general tackiness of the idea, would they want to destroy that illusion? And it shouldn’t be dangly if he’s getting it on with Yvetta, and I don’t want to see a fake erection, either. My imagination is doing really horrible things at the moment.

Agreed… FF is fine by me, it’s where and when you see it. Bondage is also all well and good, but do it on the nice couch in the office… that man would have anchor points in lots of places

you never know lol…I mean if shes just tied up it’s not that bad. We see this in movies all the time, even tame movies or shows for that matter. I guess as long as he’s not whipping her or using a leather belt during sex to choke her then it’s ok. She had sex with Bill outside in the cemetary after he just woke from the ground so she can’t be too grossed out lol. That would bother me more actually than being tied up.

Eep! I’d forgotten about that horribleness in the graveyard. That was gross. If she wasn’t offended by that, she’s up for anything. I’ve never let anyone tie me up for any reason, including sex. I can’t actually remember anyone trying but maybe my reaction to a subtle hint was so hostile they didn’t push it. It’s not for me, but to each his own.

[I have no problem with the bondage and the kink either. My problem is the location and what it says about the man.]

IF this were to happen the way we are thinking (because we could be thinking it will happens this way, but we aren’t sure sure of that) then definetely it will say a LOT about him. If he likes or not kinky sex isn’t in my list of my worries. My question is if isn’t enough that in TB Eric has a dungeon where he torture and kill humans (because it’s not made for vampires, definitely those aren’t silver chains…), but do they really need to add also the trait of morbid in him when they chose to make it in the same place he is used to torture and kill people? And I don’t really need to read as a justification that Bill had sex with Sookie covered in dirt over a grave blah blah, because I DON’T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT BILL, THE ONLY ONE I CARE ABOUT IS ERIC. And this NEW Eric is a travesty. From the hair till the dungeon. So, whoever who loves this new Eric, be my guest…

And sorry for the rant, but I’m not so desperate to watch Askars naked, but to really watch some more justice with the real Eric character.

Oh no please don’t get it wrong, it wasn’t to compare Bill with Eric at all in that comment. Because we don’t like Bill and to say well Bill did it wouldn’t prove anything or make a point since we expect Eric to be better, so it would just make him as bad. It was to compare Eric and Sookie’s different sexual experiences. Somebody asked but how would Sookie feel to see such a thing and would she find such a thing attractive. I said she personally can’t really judge since she had graveyard sex, so who is she to judge what he is doing. Yes it so happens that it was with Bill but in this instance it was only based on her own experiences.

Problem is there are two Erics. Well, at least two, because I have my own version which is a hybrid between book Eric and TB Eric.

I do not like the fact that TB Eric has a dungeon where he tortures and kills people and I wish we had never seen it. I hated seeing what he did to Lafayette and Royce. But we are stuck with it. That is what AB chose to give us. Both versions of Eric are a very old and powerful vampire, not a human, and he has done lots of things we don’t want to see. I can accept lots of things about vampires that I wouldn’t accept of humans. If seeing Eric torture Lafayette and kill Royce didn’t put me off him, seeing him have sex in that dungeon is not going to do it. It irks me that it’s going to happen, but I have no power over it and have to accept it and move on.

I find True Blood Eric fascinating and sexy and I enjoy his sarcastic sense of humour, but he is also very dangerous and very frightening. Until we saw him with Godric I couldn’t imagine him having a soft, vulnerable side, and until we saw Sookie’s dreams I couldn’t imagine him being gentle with Sookie and in a relationship with her. Then I read the books, and that changed the way I thought about Eric forever. I do not love True Blood Eric, I love Book Eric/my Eric. I merge the two versions in my mind and attribute qualities to TB Eric that we have been shown no reason to believe he has. I can’t distinguish the two in my mind and that is going to affect how I view TB and might become a problem for me, depending on what happens in the show. I do not know what AB intends to do with Eric’s character as far as Sookie is concerned, but I have to hope that he demonstrates personality traits that outweigh the negative aspects we have witnessed and makes True Blood Eric a sympathetic character and lovable.

I do not want to see ASkars naked for the sake of seeing him naked, but I am not opposed to seeing him naked and I will enjoy it.

“…because I DON’T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT BILL, THE ONLY ONE I CARE ABOUT IS ERIC”
                – Yes, me too.

“And sorry for the rant, but I’m not so desperate to watch Askars naked, but to really watch some more justice with the real Eric character.”
                – And I haven’t read the books, so it’s the televised viking that has captured my attention. And no, not for his looks. And please: rant more! Never stop with the ranting!

“If he likes or not kinky sex isn’t in my list of my worries.”
                – It always boils down to HOW you do it, and WHY. If it’s consensual, sexy fun – no problem. If it’s shown to be perverted and sadistic, then it will worry me – a lot.

“My question is if isn’t enough that in TB Eric has a dungeon where he torture and kill humans (because it’s not made for vampires, definitely those aren’t silver chains…), but do they really need to add also the trait of morbid in him when they chose to make it in the same place he is used to torture and kill people?”
                – Yes, this is a strange and disturbing thing. A lot of people (including CH herself) have pointed out that there shouldn’t even BE a basement (less a dungeon) in a building in that area to begin with.
                – Why would it look that way? Hadn’t they just moved there and opened that Fangtasia place? That means that Eric didn’t build it, but it was there to begin with, which makes it even more peculiar (with a side order of ew).
                – Why does a millennium old vampire sheriff need to torture humans? It seems without logic to me, but if Alan Ball has decided that Eric is a bona fide psychotic maniac, then it makes sense. AB truly believes that Eric is all kinds of disgusting, and of course he then is morbid enough to have sex down in the gutter. One thing that other shows and books about vampires seem to underline, is that vampires have heightened senses – one of these senses being smell….no sane vampire would choose this location for sex.

No, I most certainly have to pull the Star Wars card now: I have a bad feeling about this.

That dungeon was definitely the worst idea they came up with. I understand they wanted to come up with a way to keep Lafayette on the show but it could’ve been done differently. I know that they were going to follow the books and kill off Lafayette, so originally in AB’s mind he wasn’t gonna have a DOD in Fangtasia. But then AB said that he thought about the whole “aids burger” scene and how brilliant he was and had to keep Laf. Unfortunately they had written it in the show that he was missing for longer, otherwise we could’ve just seen Eric bring Lafayette in and question him. But with about 2 weeks time passing by in the show, I guess they had to show he was captured to make it believable. Again, they could’ve played it out differently and yes fine if Eric had Laf captured but not held in a dungeon and chained to some medieval torture wheel and in such horrible conditions. We understand he is the Sheriff and makes sense he would investigate those who sell V, especially when a vamp went missing.

I’m upset about this too but I’ve been expecting this for weeks now, ever since we saw sookie walking down there in the HBO promo and the pic of a shirtless Eric down there. So not really surprised when I heard this today since I knew it was going to go down this way. I’m trying to focus on other things we have seen and heard which really does sound like we will see a big change in Eric and a positive one at that. I think if by the end of the season Eric makes a huge impact and Sookie can look at him differently then this won’t make much of a dent, or at least I am hoping it won’t.

You know what Dee? I do not buy the story that AB would kill Laffayette character in the program, because he being the only gay human in the original story, I’m sure that from the beginning he planned to keep him in the show.

Nor do I think that the idea of a dungeon of torture has been an impromptu idea, because a main character in the original story as is Eric, who according to the spirit of the books is not a trivial character, does not support improvisations, precisely because his foundation lies in the details of his personality.

                      May 22, 2010 at 5:39 pm

That’s what they made it seem like from interviews. At least when it comes to Lafayette, the DOD wasn’t mentioned. AB said that what saved Nelsan was his improvised scene with the Aids burger, thats when he started thinking that he needs to keep him around and he said that is what saved Nelsan and wasn’t killed off. In an interview with Nelsan he said he was so happy when he found out that he wouldn’t be killed off. So it does seem in the beginning thats how it was going to play out. I think when they were first writing the episodes, yes he was a great character but maybe also didn’t realize just how great he would play these scenes and how much fans would love him. They have so many other great characters and probably did focus alot on others.

But she did mention it in DITF:

“There weren’t too many basements in Shreveport, because the water level was too high, but Eric’s house was on a slope. Originally, its downstairs was a walk in from the back patio. Eric had had that back door pulled out and the wall made solid, so he had a great place to sleep”.

“We didn’t speak again until we reached Eric’s house. Oddly enough, he’d bought a place in a gated community with a strict building
code. Eric liked the daytime security of the gate and the guard. And he liked the fieldstone house. There weren’t too many
basements in Shreveport, because the water level was too high, but Eric’s house was on a slope. Originally, its downstairs was a
walk-in from the back patio. Eric had had that door pulled out and the wall made solid, so he had a great place to sleep.”

The Eric that I love is the Eric from the books. That Eric is also seen from Sookie’s point of view. Eric is described as being ruthless throughout the series. Sookie has just never seen his ruthlessness to the full extent. She wants to see the good in him, and he also shows her his good side to win her. I am buying the torturing humans in the basement thing only because it demonstrates the ruthlessness that he is always described as having. I was appalled when Bill slapped Eric and got away with it.

This! I think that (the slap) disturbed me more than Eric and the DOD. The books are from Sookie’s POV, and like Love said, we don’t know what Eric was doing before when he wasn’t with Sookie. He changes in the course of the books, maybe on the show they want to distinguish the “ruthless” side of Eric with his softer side that will show with Sookie. This would be a good way to contrast that point being the first episode and all. Kind of like they did in Season 2, with E killing Royce in the first episode. Then the showed his emotional side with all of the Godric stuff later in the season. Sorry if ya’ll talked about this more later, haven’t made it all the way through the thread yet!

I agree VL. The location is just tooo disturbing and seems so “un-Eric”. The bondage thing reminds me of the scene with Maudette, and also Dawn. But the dirty basement where captives are kept in their filth, and the torture that goes on down there… I would be so devastated if Eric brought Yvette down there to fuck. I can understand doing it in his office, on his desk, but why the dungeon??

              • May 22, 2010 at 1:48 pm

OT, Thanks you, thank you for connecting this to Jason and Maudette. It is very closely linked to them. IMO Eric’s time with Yvette is going to parallel Jason’s with Maudette. I’m not sure how closely it will all play out, but I’m dying to find out.

S1, the first time we see Jason he is naked performing and performing cunnilingus. He notices vampire bites on her thigh, which turn him off. He questions her, she initially lies about what they are. When he doesn’t believe her, she tries another story, and says that a vampire paid her to allow him to bite her. He goes to leave, but she keeps him there by describing what sex with a vampire is like. Eventually she tells him that she likes it rough. She shows him the video. Jason ties up Maudette, and they have sex.

So, here’s the Eric parallel that:

S3, in Eric’s first appearance, he is naked in his office performing cunnilingus on Yvette. (This is the clip from the promo.) He bites her femoral artery and recognizes the taste is were, not shifter. He questions her; she denies it. Eventually she spins another lie that he does believe. She probably admits to being a were, but concocts a sob story about being victimized and really needing the job. Yvette distracts him with rough sex just like Maudette did with Jason. So Eric either takes her to the dungeon to question her or because she is a kinky were bitch who wants a wild ride. Actually, he probably takes her down there for both those reasons. While Jason was having sex with Maudette, he pretended to strangle her. I think Eric will threaten to kill Yvette if she doesn’t talk. Since Maudette fooled Jason, Yvette will do the same with Eric. He will believe her story, so she will keep her job and live to pole dance for him another day. but behind his back, she will be calling him a moron just like Maudette did to Jason.

Nice parallel Renee. I am thinking it was you that said on your site that Jason was Eric’s parallel on the show? Also, you listed numerous parallels and made many predictions for Eric based on what happened with Jason? Add this to the list. I apologize if I got you confused with someone else.

                  • May 22, 2010 at 3:20 pm

Yes, Robin. That was me. In the first Eric/Jason post, I showed how the first scene of Eric at Fantasia paralleled the first time Jason was shown at work, right down to the minutiae. I can’t wait to see how closely this scene with Eric will parallel Jason’s. It will be the first test of one of my parallel predictions.

It would be so interesting if you would do a follow up to show how many of your parallel predictions take place. It seems very complicated writing all of these parallels into the episodes.

                    • May 22, 2010 at 4:09 pm

Believe me, Robin, I will be crowing about the ones that pan out.

The structure of TB with all these alter egos and parallel story lines is extremely complex. When I presented this other places one of the criticism is that its lazy writing to repeat the same story over and over. In fact, it is much more challenging to make each iteration of seem different and to make all the wheels within wheels mesh.

Just look at how nearly all of the main characters and many of the minor ones have been kidnapped or held against their will yet their stories were all unique and anything

Bill, Laffy, Sookie, Hugo, Jason, Sam, Jessica, Royce, and even Tara. (It was no accident that hanging over her bed at MA’s was ‘The Odalisque.’)

                      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Odalisque

For s3, the promo’s looked like Pam was being held against her will, and Eric will be when the magister sentences him for dealing V, so before this motif plays out, I think it will include just about everyone.

                • May 22, 2010 at 2:51 pm

So Renee, to follow the logic of the theory Jason/Maudette & Eric/skank…..
Eric will be duped into a false situation (possibly the selling of V) find out the truth behind the situation (QSA and others ?) and save the day in the end. All we need is a glorious showdown. Like it.

                  • May 22, 2010 at 3:28 pm

You’ve just made a lot of cards fall into place, Bobsgran! Yes, I think it will ultimately be because of Yvette that Eric winds up in front of the magister falsely accused of selling V. That would imply that SA will hang Eric out to dry just like Rene did with Jason. I wonder if SA will go after Sookie when she tries to clear his name. Yowza! Could all of this play out this season?

                    • May 22, 2010 at 4:04 pm

It’s possible. AB did pack a lot into S2. Sometimes it made my head spin. With 12eps. and the almost 1hr. format it could happen.
Wouldn’t it be great for a showdown with Nan? I think we may see more of her even though she hasn’t been in any promos.

Renee, I hope to God you’re wrong because that would have a devastating effect on the character of Eric. I definitely don’t think he took her down there to question her. If she is down there, they are having kinky consensual sex for the sake of enjoying themselves not because he’s torturing her to get answers. And let’s hope we don’t see her strangling her either. Geez, please don’t even say that. lol

                  • May 22, 2010 at 4:26 pm

LOL! I’m the exact opposite, VL. My problem with the dungeon scene would be if they are down there have consensual kinky sex. I don’t have a problem with kink, but I don’t like what it says about Eric that he would go so hardcore the first time with Yvette, as if that’s what he’s really into instead of it being a novelty. If he’s interrogating her or dishing out the pain that she wants, I can deal with it. This is the vampire who threatened to torture Sookie, afterall. Time will tell.

                    • May 22, 2010 at 4:46 pm

What if it is the skank ho’s idea to go “somewhere” where it’s more adventuresome? If she is a spy she has to find out about the place and what better way than to have the boss give her a guided tour. Maybe she needs to find out if there is anyone in the basement.
Just a thought out in left field.

Bobsgran, but this is my point. He’s going to take a stranger down to a DOD? I mean, I can see if she had been his play thing for some time, then it would make sense. But someone he just met that night? A cunning vampire sheriff would do this? It seems so bizarre.

If Yvette is a were-wolf, Eric and Pam would know it by smell. Eric kills were-wolf in Sookie’s house. Eric smell the were-wolf and wanted Sookie to let in him in and he told her their were-wolf in the house. Yvette is not were-animal.

                  • May 22, 2010 at 9:57 pm

They did smell her. That’s why they both turned to greet her before they got a look at her. From her fox/leopard/snake outfit they assumed that she was a shifter, not a were. The thing is, that this season, we’re going to find out that Eric has a long history with weres, so he would be in a position to know the subtle difference between were and shifter blood.

Actually they turned around when they heard the door slam. If you watch the vid again, you’ll see you hear the door slam loud and thats when they look.

                    • May 22, 2010 at 10:28 pm

                      Serena–Ewww!

Dee–I’m reading it differently. A door closes (I think the it might be the stage exit the cowboy leaves through), neither Pam nor Eric react to the sound, there is a pause, Eric starts to make eye contact with Pam, at the sound of Yvette’s footsteps, they both cock an eyebrow and turn to see what’s coming. It doesn’t look to me like they were startled by the sound of the door, and they certainly didn’t bother to turn to greet anyone else. For now I’m going to stick with the idea that they smelled her coming.

Renee-No they weren’t startled by the sound but as soon as you hear the door slam, that is exactly when they turn their heads. Now doesn’t mean she is not connected to Hallow but she is either human or somehow uses magic to mask her scent. I can’t picture eric being turned on by a were and also it says that she will be his lover, they have a sexual relationship. I think he would be suspicious that a were comes to fangtasia after he finds out were’s are after Sookie.

Although, after what Kathy said, i am worried if she is with Hallow because then she knows who sookie is and in s4 how can he hide in sookies house if yvetta knows about sookie.

I doubt they smell her. Eric knows that were-wolves are drinking vampire blood and I doubt Eric would have sex with them.

Eric and Pam both wanted to have sex with her because they were sexual attractive to her. Yvetta is very attractive and hot.

AB wanted viewers to see what Eric and Pam do with their employees. They have sex and food. Yvetta is another employee like Ginger.

                  • May 22, 2010 at 11:09 pm

Dee, a were would definitely get his attention. MAS & I worked out a couple of days ago that Ulfric probably had an army of weres and that Eric fought side be side with them. I laid out the clues in my blog.

I really, seriously doubt the clip will give us the context of why Yvette is in the DOD. I’ve heard that some BL’s that have seen the clip are saying it’s a sexual context (and possibly even that Eric asks Sookie to join them?) but that could def be an assumption on their part.

                {The location is just tooo disturbing and seems so “un-Eric”. The bondage thing reminds me of the scene with Maudette, and also Dawn. But the dirty basement where captives are kept in their filth, and the torture that goes on down there… }

Exactly Oriental Thorn. The location just seems very “un-TB Eric” for me. Like I’ve said a million times, I have no doubt that Eric is into kink and bondage – and why wouldn’t he be? If it’s consensual and fun so be it. Lydia said it best, he’s over 1000 years old so I’m sure he loves things that are new and exciting, etc. However, the location just seems so out of left field. I’m just having a hard time believing this to be the case.

Honestly ya’ll, I think Renee is right. Eric and Yvette have a tryst on his desk (cunnilingus looks to me like) he bites her and discovers she is not what she claims to be so he vampires her down to the basement to interrogate her, which is where Pam brings Sookie, knowing she will think teh kinky sex is going down, hence her sly smile.

Sunny, I really don’t think that’s the case. For one thing, she appears on 4 episodes. For another, I really don’t think Pam would take Sookie down to the DOD if he were doing that.

                    • May 22, 2010 at 5:20 pm

That must be the night of the pole dance and the visits by Sookie, Jessica, & SA.

My contention is that after she admits to being a were, she concocts a poor me story that Eric believes to be the truth, so she keeps her job.

Sure she would VL! Pam isn’t too concerned with ‘niceties’ and she may want a little payback for Eric hogging the hot chick, lol.

And remember, 4 episodes may take place over only a two day period or even less. shit, AB claims all of s2 took place over 8 days! So it’s entirely possible that since Sookie interrupts the interrogation with her bad news (*snort*) he has to leave her at that time and get back to her later.

Lol Renee, I didn’t coin ‘vampires’ as a verb, I think it was my arch enemy bradeatspeeps. 😀 Credit where it’s due, and all that jazz. 😀

VL, I don’t understand? What is it you WISH were happening in this scene? To my mind, this theory is the best possible scenario. It means Eric IS NOT sexing up the skank in the filthy disgusting basement but conducting an interrogation he has every right to conduct, if he thinks she’s trying to scam or trap him in some way.

Violence against women, to me, is intolerable. I don’t want to see that.

I agree VL, others who have seen this scene don’t seem to mention this happening to Yvetta. Sounds like he is getting it on with her from their description.

Here are other reasons I don’t think he found out anything about her and questioning her:

S3 will start off where S2 ended, which is most likely the same night of the Fangtasia stripper auditions. If Eric is getting it on with her, its probably after the auditions. We saw Yvetta with a leopard print bra in the minisode but in the trailer she had on a pink bra and is in Eric’s office having sex, so it’s safe to say there are more encounters, even if it is with Pam, she wouldn’t have sex with someone spying on them. Then we saw the picture of Eric on his throne and Yvetta dancing for him on a pole, that looks like the same night Sookie and the Queen go to Fangtasia because of how Eric is dressed and it’s not the same night as fangtasia auditions because he clearly wore something different. We also know that Sookie goes to visit him that time after the night of the kidnapping bc we see she still has her lavendar dress on.

Know what? I’m pissed, but unfortunately not surprised. I feel like AB is teasing us that he’s going to make Eric more like Eric, but the drastic change of appearance belies that.

I have no expectations for this season. Even if he givea us AE in season 4, it will be a whole different scenario I’m guessing, so not satisfying for us at all.

I’m just completely depressed about the whole thing. And don’t forget, those promos are primarily showing us E/S/B and a little of Tara, Sam and Jason. That’s skewed to get us EL’s excited. Don’t forget we have a bunch of flash backs, a WHOLE Laffy story, complete with mad mother and new lover, Jason and Crystal, Tara and Franklin, Jessica on a rampage, Debbie Pelt (who he said has an expanded part) and Sam and Family. Now how much, I ask you, can really be devoted to the Jackson story in what? less than 11 hours? cause you know very well those episodes will be 45 minutes long. No not looking forward to this at all.

Yeah, I’m with Liz. Bring the naughty.

Disclaimer – personally I would not get down and dirty in the DOD – but Eric and Yvetta…Hells yeah.

Oh, and I’m fine with seeing The Magical Peen. In fact, it would be so fine with me that I would have to watch it frame by frame on auto repeat for about two hours straight. Then I would probably blow it up and hang it on my wall.

Well. That might be tacky. The husband may not approve. Or my kids. Kill Joys.

You know what I wish we had? A WTF forum. Places where I can ask my WTF questions and smarties can answer them. Oh, and a ‘what would we do if we were in charge’ forum. Like, what do you wish the ending was in book 10? Kind of questions. I don’t think there is anything like that here? Most of my friends are quite conservative and the GP would make them fast and pray for me and I would never hear the end of it. They may even make me wear a Scarlet GP on my clothing. Yeah. It’s a little conservative. Anyway, I have no where to ask my WTF questions.

Love y’all btw, I don’t post a lot but I’m a devoted lurker! Will try to come out and play a bit more if you’ll have me.

Rhonda, we are on the same page.

I am good (more than good) with seeing the GP. I usually am more of a “the thought is sexier than the actual” kind of person, but not this time, dammit! My concern is that if I see a FF of ASkars with my husband, he may not appreciate my delighted scream, inappropriate laughter, and request to “back that up”. I must see it by myself the first time. I won’t be able to hold my face together; I know it!

Eric and Yvetta down and dirty in the DOD–I do not care. I have often wondered about Eric’s extracurricular activities in the books. Sookie doesn’t know about them, so therefore, we don’t know either.

Isn’t it strange that all 3 photos look different? The one SVB posted above has the “arm” behind Eric and is almost completely obscured by his arm. In the one Renee posted, we can see the full “arm” but it is situated much further back and at a distance. Same goes for the one Gigi posted except you can only see the top of the arm in that one. Isn’t that strange?

For all the fans who are squicked by the possibility that Eric and Yvetta will be having kinky sex on the carousel of carnage…let’s not get too upset until we see the scene in context. Remember, the whole point of releasing trailers is to generate buzz. And as we’ve seen in the past, HBO isn’t above misdirecting the audience with red herrings, clever editing, and photo shop.

    (Warning: Random Theory)
Another thing to consider is how can we be so certain that Eric actually tortures people down in the basement? Could what we have seen possibly have been the product of Lafayette’s glamored mind? We’ve certainly seen Ginger glamored often enough at Fangtasia’s. If we’ve learned anything it’s that Erik is the consummate survivor. He couldn’t have lived for a thousand years by taking stupid risks. What could be more risky than torturing and murdering humans at his place of business? As we’ve seen…the club has already been raided once by the police and it’s packed with tourists and fangbangers every night. If Fangtasia were torture central, it would only be a matter of time before that nasty little fact got out. Wouldn’t it simply be easier to kidnap Lafayette and glamor him into hellish visions in order secure compliance (and a sense of gratitude for being allowed to live)? The official episode for S3E3 says, “Eric bequeaths a gift to Lafayette.” Perhaps Eric will reveal the truth to Lafayette so that he can overcome his PTSD?

    • 396 pennydreadful
      May 22, 2010 at 9:54 am

I think my theory that Fangtasia is not a torture den is plausible given:
      1. When Sookie finds Lafayette in the basement it’s filthy. However, there is a lingering shot of the (bloodless) steps. Ginger would’ve have to do quite a bit of clean up to remove all the bits of Royce that were littering the floors, walls, and steps of DOD….yet the basement doesn’t look as if it’s been cleaned at all.
      2. If they routinely torture and kill human beings at Fangtasia why did Ginger say that she normally only comes in for day time deliveries and then accidentally lets it slip that she’s been watching Lafayette for the past few days? It seems that they would need a regular daytime guard.
3.Ginger’s reaction is another clue. When she shoots Lafayette what does she immediately do? Apologize and hysterically proclaim how much she hates guns. Obviously,it’s not the reaction of someone who is used to guarding prisoners. Even when Sookie discovers that Lafayette is down in the basement…Ginger isn’t fearful of any sort of murderous retribution from Eric. She’s more concerned that he’s going to angry with her for screwing up.
4.Even after Ginger witnessed the staking of Longshadow…killing her was never an option. Eric ordered Pam to either glamor her or turn her.

      • May 22, 2010 at 10:45 am

Penny, I agree with much of what you say. IMO I don’t think Eric is having kinky sex in the DOD. I think we are being led down the garden path by AB. He does like to do that sort of thing. Don’t mind the shirtless Eric, but I’m having a hard time with sex in the dungeon with the skank, despite what may or may not be an arm. Hanging on to the theory that AB likes to manipulate. I’ll look forward to everyones report on the promo Sun, bc I don’t have a digital camera or a smart phone. Hell, in my house it’s still two tin cans attached with a string.

I also think it is a distinct possibility that we are being misled by AB. He absolutely loves to manipulate, Bobsgran! We have seen countless numbers of theories, photoshopping pictures, all sorts of symbolism and such. Until we see the scene playout, he has set up those pictures to let our imaginations run wild based on what we see in them and based on what we know to have happened in that dungeon in previous episodes. Remember that AB also portrays Eric as a Christ figure and Bill as the snake in the garden (Satan).

        May 22, 2010 at 3:46 pm

Penny, just have to throw this into you’re theory. In the expanded S2 1st episode they had on HBO on Demand, which has the Blue Ray DVD extras embedded in it, Pam comes on during two dungeon scenes and says:

“We call this little contraption the carousel. Eric picked this up during the Inquisition. Fun times. It reminds me of those little wheels hamsters run on. It’s the perfect contraption for imbeciles like Lafayette. He fancied himself so clever. Never considered that his entrepreneurial ways would catch up with him. What a moron. When will these humans learn that whatever semblance of a clever idea they have was thought up by us and perfected Millenia ago.”

And during Eric’s ripping Royce apart:

“A sliver cross. Seriously? Eric Northman is a thousand year old vampire that means he was a 6 foot 5 in the year 1000 AD. What kind of inbred moron do you have to be to think a dinky piece of sliver can bring down a force of nature such as that? Sadly it’s the kind of moron that seems to grow on trees down in Bon Temps.”

So it seems the dungeon scenes are real.

Hi Kathy 🙂 I believe that the carousel down in the basement actually exists. It’s a pretty memorable device…a scary prop that fits in with Fangtasia’s real purpose. It’s a tourist attraction where humans can come gawk at the vampires in a safe context. The vampires behave in *exactly* the manner that the humans expect them to (think of Pam’s work “uniform”, the disdainful contempt of supplicating fangbangers, etc.) There’s a touch of theater to the whole place. If Bill is dressing up and playing human, then Eric and Pam are dressing up night after night and playing at being the public’s perception of how vampires should behave. I have no doubt that Eric IS ruthless enough to kill without a second thought, but he’s far too clever and shrewd a business man to be running a torture den under his bar. If anything he seems like a pragmatic guy who simply wants to get the job done. There’s nothing in his nature that hints at the kind of sadism we saw displayed in Bill and Lorena in “Hardhearted Hannah.”

If Royce’s death occurred, it was an unintended consequence that merely accomplished the goal of scaring Lafayette into compliance. Although, I’m inclined to agree with Sonny and I wouldn’t be surprised if a certain redneck walks into Merlott’s…

Oh, I don’t mind if he killed Royce. Royce deserved it. I have no problem with it. I’m just saying, I believe it did happen as we saw it. That Lafayette wasn’t glamored. I also believe it’s possible that a certain redneck walked around to the dumpster outside Merlottes…..because he needed blood and his sheriff asked him to.

      May 22, 2010 at 11:08 am

Yes, I agree with you that the whole concept of having a prisonlike torture dungeon at Fangtasia is preposterous. Eric himself said that they did nothing illegal there (that night he met Sookie the first time – as if y’all don’t know that already LOL) and like you say, there is no reason for him to take stupid, unnecessary risks.

If the basement is the result of a glamour, then what is the point of showing it at all? And not only once, but repetedly?

I’m worried that AB doesn’t care about logic or continuity. Or that his logic has to do with something else completely, also known as insane troll logic.

        May 22, 2010 at 11:24 am

morissa- It’s just a theory and I could be (and probably am) wrong but…over the course of two seasons we’ve seen quite a few scenes that aren’t an accurate portrayal of reality: dream sequences, v-induced hallucinations, and the townspeople of Bon Temps viewing Jason as “The God Who Comes.” Seeing, is not as they say, believing. Commentators here ( either because they are observant program viewers or have read the books) know that Bill is a sociopath. However, AB has manipulated the average TB viewer into thinking that show is traditional romantic epic between clearly good (Bill) and evil (Eric) forces. They assume, as Sookie does, that Bill is the dashing hero because they believe they’ve seen him behaving heroically. Likewise, Eric has been portrayed as the dastardly two-dimensional cardboard cut out stock villain. All of which will lead to a greater sense of shock in season three when a truer picture of both characters emerges.

I think you misunderstood me. Sorry, wasn’t making myself clear.

The basement thing is only one of many bothersome ingredients in this soup. There are a lot of theories going around trying to make sense of what is being shown on the screen. I’ve read this blog, and Sunny’s, and AP’s. Delicious and brilliant fanwanking, all of it.

The big problem with this is that there are too many questions that need answers and that too many theories, while fun entertaining, brings too many different answers.

And we still don’t know what Alan is trying to tell us.

I find myself not caring very much about any of the characters on the show (except Eric) and that’s because they are not portrayed as real people. I can’t relate to them, they are cardboard men and paper doll women. The sex is not sexy, the love is without passion and people act without depth in their emotions – with few, but noticable, exceptions. And when that happens, it’s because of the actor/actress. I get the overall impression that Mr Ball uses his cast as plot devices and mouth pieces for his clever puns. That just isn’t enough for me. I think it’s sloppy, on a professional level as well as on a more general human, philosophical level. (If that makes any sense…)

I want to kick him firmly in the derriere and say: Wtf, Alan! You can do better than this. Come on!

Morissa- Thanks for taking the time to comment on my post. You raise many valid points and I hope that no one was offended by my theories. At this point, everything is baseless speculation until we see how series 3 plays out. Perhaps it might help if I gave you a little bit of background? I am a show-to-books convert. As I watched the first season I had the distinct impression that the writers were trying very had to make me like Bill. However, I had this vague uneasy feeling that something was off about his character although I couldn’t put my finger on why exactly I had misgivings about him. By season two, I had managed to read the first five books and all my suspicions were confirmed. As I went back and rewatched the episodes I saw that AB had given me subtle clues about Bill’s true nature from the very beginning.

Anyway, I really enjoy TB/SVM and part of the fun for me is speculating on possible theories and exploring some of the deeper themes of the series. Without a doubt, I’m grateful for this blog and others such as Sonny’s because they provide a venue for intelligent discussion about the story, even if we disagree about what it all means. It’s a refreshing change from the “OMG, Sookie and Bill 4evah! They should so totally get married and have lots of vampire babiez!” level of discussion found at some other sites 😉

Pennydreadful, the problem I see with using a technique comparable to the unreliable narrator of a delusional or glamoured character in order to screw with the audience minds in TB, if AB is using it, is that this kind of technique works great for an episode or even a season, because it’s not to be revealed until the end. It is so in order to keep the suspense, and then it shows again how the events happened in the reality… when people are still excited and interested in knowing what the hell is really happening and are still aware of important details of the plot or story arch(s). That’s the reason it works perfect in an episode or a season.

But in a tv show which is scheduled to be shown once a year, probably for 7 years, and after 3 seasons, it would be a terrible mistake. Because with time viewers begin to forget important details, begin to get bored with inconsistencies and will finish loosing interest. They will begin to feel they are victim of an annoying prank and inevitably will acuse him of lack of originality. Moreso, when the ambiguity and the issue of what is the reality might never be resolved, because AB would need almost the same time to show HOW the real things happened in order to use it effectively and to have a positive reaction from viewers… and I highly doubt that AB doesn’t know this…

Also, after 3 seasons, I actually think he will not have the time, nor the intention, to do it.

Okeydokey. Sounds like an interesting theory, but how do you explain the hair foils scene. Eric goes down there with silver foil during Pam’s hairdressing exercise, then he goes back up with blood in his hair and she has to cut it more. If they weren’t at Fangtasia, where were they?

      • 412 pennydreadful
        May 22, 2010 at 11:49 am

millarca- I believe that Lafayette was indeed at Fangtasia’s for two weeks in a glamored state. Mostly likely, Eric immediately extracted all the information he wanted from Lafayette and then gave him a command to envision his worst fears. Why waste time actually torturing someone if you can just glamor them into thinking you’ve done it? I don’t believe that Eric ever had any intention of killing LaFayette…he’s too valuable (as a QSA sanctioned seller of V, a spy who can report back on Sookie’s doings, and a bargaining chip to get Sookie to agree to go to Dallas.)

What was interesting about the hairdressing scene was neither Eric nor Pam tried to glamor Lafayette to see if he was telling the truth. He tells them that Jason Stackhouse is probably responsible for Eddie’s disappearance, that he knows nothing about the disappearance of Godric, or has any idea about the identity of V dealer in Dallas….and they just take him at his word? Don’t forget that Pam had no qualms about glamoring Jason in order to ascertain his motives for visiting Fangtasia. Perhaps they didn’t glamor LaFayette because he was already glamored. The whole scene might have been based on real events/conversations as well as created ones within LaFayette’s mind.

Anyway, it’s just another random theory to keep things interesting until season three starts 😉

          Yap.
Indeed, why would someone torture when can glamour and get better results… Because they enjoy cruelty… Godric told us Eric is no cruel (the conversation before he meets the sun). He also didn’t want to kill Ginger… He is not cruel, it doesn’t seem real to torture. Not at all.
How could be that scene, I don’t know… We will get the truth… Eventually, lol.

(Wow… in the end, is there going to be something real at all? lol)

This “worst fear” thing would also explain the funny equipment of the basement. It was looking like Lafayette has read Dante´s “Divine comedy” (is this the right English translation?). In a nutshell it is the Christian-medival image of hell and not a “modern” torture chamber you would find in totalitarian states. This Christian hell metaphor thing would correspond with Laf´s family background: Letty Mae who belives in both, God and devil who play for humans´souls (not a enlighted version of religion, isn´t it?) and Laf´s mother who hates homosexuals.

          May 23, 2010 at 12:06 am

Normally, I don’t subscribe to this type of theory, but it actually doesn’t make sense that they would imprison and torture people when they could get more honest results by glamouring them (plus, my main justification for that was always that Eric would do anything to find Godric – I mean, we don’t usually see prisoners in Fangtasia. It makes sense that Eric would have gone to extreme measures to find Godric, by whatever means necessary. But still, why risk putting themselves in danger to the human authorities? Plus, it’s a lot of trouble to go to when glamouring would have been a lot simpler and faster. Especially for Pam, as Eric pointed out, she is extremely lazy, lol.)

As some of you have pointed out, some of what happened there could have been the result of glamouring – remember Jessica glamouring the guy in Dallas into thinking that all his worst fears were coming true.

Still, I think what we saw onscreen was what actually happened. It’s not exactly consistent characterization, but honestly, I understood why Eric did what he did, if you look at it from his POV. Not saying that what they did to Lafayette was okay, at all, but for Eric’s purposes – trying to find Godric, finding a V dealer to work for him, and as a bargaining chip with Sookie – it makes sense.

Then again, I tend to like the darker characterization of Eric. I genuinely believe that the show is going to continue to slowly show us a different side to Eric – one that is more sympathetic, but still not a pushover. Honestly, I’ve never hated Eric’s characterization on the show, and I think that the ruthlessness is one of the things that makes it more interesting when we do see his softer side. And I think we’ll see a lot more of that in S3. Still, they can’t completely white-wash him, or people won’t buy it.

Trust me, seeing Eric caring for Sookie, and seeing him vulnerable, will be a lot more powerful because of the contrast. Like Godric’s death scene – that wouldn’t have meant nearly as much if Eric normally wasn’t such a BAMF. Seeing him break down over someone he loved was amazing and touching.

I can’t help it, I love TB, and I generally find it more challenging and more entertaining than the books. YMMV, of course. 🙂

Well, I don’t know whether it would be one way or the other, but it did seem strange. The first time I say Royce episode I had to watch it twice before I realised it was Eric… I really thought it would be a DOD of the FOTS or some new group. But I don’t mind a “bad” Eric… In this way he is not being that bad, only with todays eyes, but he is 1000 years old, and until very little ago this was done a lot… Even now it is don e a lot, but uncovered.

Um, but Eric did torture Lafayatte… I don’t recall glamouring being able to produce visions? Also when Sookie confronted Eric about him torturing Lafayatte, Eric did not dispute it, in fact he gave Sookie the reasons why he was doing it.

I personally don’t care if Eric tortures all of BT down in his dungeon/basement. Eric is a warrior and survivor, would he be alive if he was playing “patty cakes” all his dead life.

False memories can be implanted via glamouring, as we saw in the scene with Bill and the limo driver. He glamoured the guy into believing a lie, that the ‘plane had arrived we just weren’t on it’.

Obviously, Ginger shot Laffy and Eric, Pam, and Chow chowed down on him. However, I am not entirely convinced of the Royce killing. If it DID happen, Eric did it not only to punish Royce and send a message to his partners in crime, he did it in front of Laffy to ‘shock’ him and make him more compliant in answering his questions. If the killing DID NOT happen, Eric glamoured the false memory into Laffy for the same reason–to make him cooperate. Eric and Pam knew Laffy was telling the truth because they knew the poor guy was too terrified NOT to.

Laffy didn’t know HOW he got there, which tells us whoever brought him there glamoured that particular memory out of him. Why would Eric glamour the memory of how he got there out of him? Why would he care if Laffy knew this fact? The answer is, he didn’t care which tells us someone ELSE brought him there and didn’t want Laffy to remember who.

I still think a certain redneck is going to walk into a bar…

I still don’t understand & believe that glamouring can produce visions of the nature that Lafayette experienced. I think all the torturing happened for precisely the reasons stated, and I don’t have a problem with it, it’s a supe world they live in.

The only thing that doesn’t makes sense with Laf being taken by Eric is that in the s1 finale he is taking out the garbage and he sees someone he recogniges, even says something like “oh, it’t you”, but then he freaks out a second later when this someone attacks him.
Are we supposed to believe that he knew Eric/Pam well enough to think nothing of it when they appeared out of the woods bhind Merlotte’s? I still think that there was the intention to kill him off and the whole idea of the DOD was a total goof on the part of AB. I have read many therioes and blogs and all the symbolisim and little details that everyone has poured over again and again to make a point that there is a grand plan for the series, but frankly I have to saw there is nothing that AB has shown me yet to make me think he has an idea about how he is going to play out the remaining story. He seems to do a lot on a whim… Maybe it’s just me, but I have very little faith in where this show is going. S1 captured me and I was really into it, but now as much as I look forward to it I am too nervous to get overly excited about it just yet.

Great way to start the day indeed! Every morning I am having this excellent blog with my coffee (now i’m on my second coffee reading your comments because it’s 11 still morning here). You are so lucky: season 3 will air in september in Romania, ‘dead in the family’ and ‘a touch of dead’ will be avalaible in june. Until then, i am avoiding spoilers about the book and sharing my enthusiasm with you all. Love this blog!

Is there any chance..that Eric has caught on to one of the many theories we’ve discussed here..(that Yvetta is a supe spy..that she is a plant for QSA or Hallow)? Then he’d have her chained in the basement for something other than sex?

Well, nah…it’s for sex..but I thought I’d try to think outside the box for a few minutes!

Also, the 3 naked men discussed somewhere earlier…shouldn’t 1 of them be Jason as his spoiler is he’s in bed with 2 women and tries to get Hoyt to join him?

Exactly! And if torture is needed than so be it, so what if he has a dungeon, he is the Sheriff he has to have come across “supes” of ALL natures maybe he needs it for compliance or threats.

You know, that is all fine and good, but how are the BLs going to feel when the mask is removed from Bill this season? Yes, it does bother me that this scene is going to happen the way it does, based on what they are saying at those sites. But, AB has a reason for this scene occurring as it does. And, I have faith that AB will remain true to the books.

        May 22, 2010 at 4:05 pm

Robin, Just wondering why you have faith AB will stay true to the books when he hasn’t thus far?

He’s given all of Eric’s good deeds to Bill. He’s taken Eric’s personality away and the growing affection between E/S that should have started last season. Completely changed the FOTS scenario and Bill’s killing spree after the FOTS attack. He actually made the Maryann story the focal point of last season as opposed to the Dallas story line, which should have been the main focus. AND he didn’t kill Lafayette (not that I don’t like Lafayette, mind you, just pointing it out).

The longer the series runs the farther he’s going to go from the books is my guess. I think season 4 will be completely unrecognizable from Dead to the World. I’ll bet Eric either doesn’t stay with Sookie at all or Sookie and Bill will have moved in together and he will stay with the both of them (to Bill’s disgust and Sookie’s sense of doing the right thing).

Yes, I am aware of how much of the storyline AB has changed throughout, but I think I just have faith that he is going to end up in the same place as CH concerning Sookie and Eric. I don’t know why. But, oh yeah, I absolutely realize how much of the storyline is different. That is probably why the BLs have so much hope placed in AB.

Robin, I agree with you. I do think that AB is getting to the same place but he’s just taking a different route. I can see why he made the changes he did with Bill and his deeds in terms of the story being told on TB. I have no problem regarding those changes – especially since they have become two separate entities to me.

I refuse to read anything from those sites because I may want to respond. I just can’t believe that the Bill lovers are reading the same books I am.

TB is too new. Bill was the “good guy” in the first two books too. Here is my issue: In Club Dead, Eric went to Sookie to ask for help to find Bill. Bill ran off with Lorena of HIS OWN FREE WILL. On TB, Bill is taken AGAINST HIS WILL, and Sookie goes to Eric to ask for help finding Bill. Huge difference here. How the hell are they going to spin this to make Bill look like he broke Sookie’s heart as he did in the books? AGH! I care more about making Bill look bad than Eric look good. I think the “Eric looking good” part is coming along at a reasonable pace. Her dreams about loving on him showed that. Of course, now they can blame the blood bond for that, and of course, they did blame the blood bond–Lafayette also had sexy dreams about Eric.

Well, in the HBO promo, it does look like in the end, Bill’s “do not try to find me” does, in fact, break Sookie’s heart. Yes, he may well be doing it to try to protect her, but the end result will be the same. Remember, in the books, Bill eventually explains (in the beginning of DTTW) that he went back to Lorena because she threatened to kill Sookie if he didn’t. After everything that had happened and everything Sookie had been through, however, it didn’t make any difference to her. I still think the show’s storyline will be basically the same, even if they take a different route to get there.

  63. May 22, 2010 at 2:40 pm

I personally don’t mind seeing Eric having rough sex in the basement or wherever else with someone who is at 99,9% a whore, as long as if it’s consensual and he treats Sookie well. I really don’t care if BL think that demonstrates once again that Eric is Evil.
In TB’s world, no one is pure. Not Bill, not Eric, not even Sookie.
I know BookEric wouldn’t have bondage sex in a dungeon, but are we really sure about it? I mean, in the books we only see Eric through Sookie’s eyes, in a sweetened way, so we tend to idealize him.
I enjoyed the “Is there blood in my hair” scene and I think I’ll thoroughly enjoy this one as well. Eric is no prince charming, Sookie knows it very well, what she doesn’t know is that neither Bill is.
Besides, I guess it will be a very funny scene, with some epic banter. So thumbs up.

Hime, I agree 100% with what you said. Like I said, for me it’s not the bondage or the sex or the kink or any of that. It’s the fact that he’s doing it in a dirty ass DOD where he killed a man. That’s what I find a little bit crazy. Also, I am definitely not comparing TB Eric and Book Eric in my feelings – I separated them in my mind long ago. And I absolutely love TB Eric. lol By the way, just as an aside, Book Eric was definitely into bondage because when Sookie first meets him and asks about Dawn he says “I have been with this one. She liked pain”. Anyhooo, my opinion was based solely on TB Eric. I still find this scene unbelievable for many reasons. 1) he apparently just met Yvetta that night. So, he decides to take her down to a DOD where they conduct “secret” vamp business? It’s just a little weird to me. And how did that conversation go? “Hey, you wanna see my dungeon?” lol See what I mean? It’s bizarre.

However, I am completely adjusting to it. lol If this is the case then I will deal.

Oh, and just as another aside: I also find this scene weird because of that fact that on TB they changed that piece of dialogue from the books. On TB, when Sookie asks Eric if he had met Dawn, his response is “this one I have tasted”. They completely eliminated the “pain” part.

      • 448 VikingLover
        May 22, 2010 at 3:41 pm

Sorry, one more thing. Another reason I find this a little bit unbelievable is because he’s trying to win Sookie over. Coming on to her while another chick is dangling from the ceiling isn’t really conducive to that. Know what I mean? I mean, Eric is Eric and he’s going show his face – meaning he doesn’t hide who he is from anyone and I really like that about him. However, for them to stand there and have an entire conversation while Yvetta is there just boggles my mind.

        • May 22, 2010 at 3:46 pm

Yes, the conversation between Sook and Eric with Yvette in the background is totally bizarre. My previous comment was in response to your comment about Dawn, but I think it got out of order somehow.

          May 22, 2010 at 4:12 pm

I see this a bit differently, VL. Eric doesn’t hide his true nature. He puts it all out there and lets people form their own opinions. There is something very attractive about it, in my opinion. Bill, on the other hand, hides everything true about himself from Sookie. He is a natural liar.

          • 451 VikingLover
            May 22, 2010 at 4:25 pm

Lotus, yes that’s exactly what I said – that Eric does not hide his true nature and that I like that. What I’m saying is that he’s trying to win Sookie over and I find it a little odd that he would then come onto her while another woman is naked and dangling from a ceiling. That’s not really a way to woo a woman, know what I mean? I’m not saying that he should be all shamed faced that Sookie caught them. What I’m saying is that I’m surprised they are standing there having a conversation. Why didn’t he ask Sookie to wait upstairs? Or unchain Yvetta. lol It’s a bizarre scenario all around.

            • May 22, 2010 at 6:58 pm

I agree that the scene is bizarre. But I think that Eric was already in the basement when Sookie arrived, so he was caught in the middle of the “business” right there and not in his office.
What if Yvetta asks him to do something extreme and he takes her in the dungeon, maybe to scare the hell out of her and instead she gets horny? That slut looks like she’s into kinky things. 🙂
Maybe Yvetta is really a spy from Hallow and she’s using all her seduction weapons to get a clear idea of the place? Uhm…

About the dungeon, I think that it’s not really a place in which Eric usually kills people. I mean yes, he killed Royce there, but it was sort of an incident.
And the fact that it’s now empty (and was empty when Sookie got down in ep.2×03, except for Laffy) means it’s used as a prison only in rare cases.
              Sorry for grammar mistakes.

                May 22, 2010 at 7:18 pm

If Yvetta is a spy from Hallow, it would confirm my theory that in Season 4 AE won’t hide out with Sookie. The reason they thought it was a good idea for him to stay there was that Hallow didn’t know about Sookie.

If Yvetta is a spy and she’s down there in the basement, she will know about Sookie in relation to Eric, therefore, Eric would not be safe in Sookie’s house, nor would Sookie be safe from Hallow. I think it’s likely that Yvetta is QSA’s spy, but I also think it’s likely that Franklin is QSA’s spy. So whatever! LOL!

You know that is a very good point, didn’t think of that. My initial reaction was that she is a QSA spy. I’ve read all the hallow theories and I can see how it is possible and wouldn’t be surprised if it happens. But I am also waiting to see if she is connected to the queen instead which I originally thought. Now that you have mentioned all this, I hope it is true just for that reason.

      • May 22, 2010 at 3:44 pm

That’s because this isn’t about Eric, it’s about Yvette. She likes pain the same way that Maudette liked it rough. I am convinced those two are parallels. I laid out how somewhere between 315 and 319.

I’ll leave the theorizing to others who do it so well.

    My thoughts on the pic:

    * Full frontal? Oh hell yes! Please.
If it happens to not be FF, I’ll be disappointed but still entertained. His chest is nice, but I really like that he’s 6’4″ and Sookie has to look up to him. That’s a whole lotta man.

    * Dungeon sex? Kinky, but hey, I’ll watch…and appreciate. It may not be book-Eric, but I’ll take AB’s Eric too.

    * Sex with Yvetta? Cool. I don’t care who he’s getting it on with as long as he is. I separate what’s for entertainment (like gratuitous sex/nudity) and what’s for intellectual stimulation/inspiration/political bone-picking. I can appreciate it all.

    * Sookie catching Eric in the act or whatever’s going on here should make for an interesting conversation and foster more sexual tension between them. Can’t wait to see how that plays out.

Its not unbelievable to me that Eric may or may not be having kinky sex in the DOD. I mean Eric is over 1,000 Yr. Old Vampire he doesn’t think like a Human does cuz he’s not one. I mean even some Human’s would have kinky sex in the DOD. In my opinion if he indeed is down in the DOD with Yvette, it just shows how he sees Fangbangers, which is for simply blood an sex, which is how most Vampires see Humans. I think Eric treats each Fangbanger depending on how they act. I mean look at the blood Prostitute in Dallas, he didn’t try to have sex with her, an she was beautiful, he seemed to have respect for her even tho her acting like she didn’t want it was horrible lol, he still told her to tell her boss she was magnificent. If Yvette ends up coming off real slutty, an like she’d be up for anything it doesn’t surprise me he’d take her down to the DOD for kinky sex. I’m sure Eric did bondage an all that crazy stuff in the Book to, but we weren’t getting his perspective only Sookie’s. If i recall he admitted to Sookie when they went for the Orgy in Book 2 that he’s been to alot of Orgy’s in the past something along those lines. I’m going to assume if he has Yvette down in the DOD they’re both standing having sex while she’s chained up, an that the DOD has been cleaned after killings an stuff, if not it would really smell, an the smell would eventually be smelling up the upstairs as well so i dont see Eric not having the DOD cleaned after things like the Royce incident. I really dont care what the BL have to say cuz they will always find something to say about Eric, an they’re all about to be rudely awakened with Bill very soon anyway. Does anyone know if this is a new Promo being shown during Lost or the same one we’ve already seen? I hope the Eric/Sookie clip will be able to be posted online for those of us who wont be able to see it any other way.

First and foremost THANKS for the fun last night. It is so freakin cool and great to hook up with so many Eric “fans” (fanatics)

OK, here is my “intellectual feminist” argument (yeah RIGHT) for wanting full frontal. We live in a country/world that has exploited women sexually since the beginning of time and it is now…OUR TRUN goddamn it. Would it be a cheap sexualized exploitation to see Eric/Alex full frontal? Oh hell yeah, bring it on; I have joined the “if ya can’t beat em, join em” type of mentality.

Alexander himself had brought to attention America’s hypocritical and ridiculous dichotomy concerning sex/violence by stating (paraphrasing) “you can show people being murdered left and right in America but I have to sign a 20 page waver contract to show my ass?)When asked what it would take for him to pose naked as Eric like in the book he stated “A chicken burrito and a pint of strawberry ice-cream” (cheap date … love it) So Alexander seems to be a wiling participant in his choice to help tear down America’s puritanical wall of sexual hypocrisy.
Who am I to stand in his way?

Also, it is the right wing that controls the rating system and no one hates the religious right wing more than Alan Ball except … ME. So part of the issue for me personally is I am sick to death of these pious religious moralizing asshole’s projecting their “values” on to the American people while the secretly hook up in pubic bathrooms, have illicit affairs and go on vacation with “rent boys”.

But in the end if we were to kick all these argument to the curb (where they probley belong) I would say that the real reason I advocate so strongly for FF is because as a fully grown educated sexual feminist female … I wanna to see Eric’s wee wee.

    Lol …Oh yes I do.

Yeah, it really doesn’t move me that the actor feels comfortable being naked or that he likes to be naked. Kudos for him. I only care that he does justice to the part he’s playing. I personally don’t mind the full frontal either and I won’t mind if they don’t show it. However it’s done is fine. I just want it to make sense in the storyline and not just to have nudity for the sake of nudity.

For me it does make sense to the story line. The second it shows Eric having sex it makes sense that he would be naked.

Now if the show was just 50 minutes of naked Eric ( in our dreams) then it would not make sense to the storyline, otherwise …

TB is a sexually graphic adult program so why NOT Eric is also been my point.

Yes, of course. What I’m saying is that as long as showing Eric having sex has a purpose to the storyline then that’s cool with me personally. If it’s just to have gratuitous sex then it’s stupid and undermines the quality of the show in my opinion. I understand this is adult programming but it’s also a story that’s being told and the aspects of the story have to make sense. Otherwise, people can go watch the Playboy channel. I’m sure them showing this is to show that Eric loves women, especially since at some point they’re going to show him having sex with another man.

All good points. So far I think AB has done a pretty decent job combining all the factors that make the show so exciting including sex, violence, romance, political points, human interest, comedy, drama ect. I trust him not to go too far with the exploitation in any direction.

I love that Alexander is going to have sex with another man and his willingness to ‘go there”. I said on another site as a straight person I find it still my job to help knock down the walls of homophobia so I’m glad to see that Alex is “playing his part” and well as using the character of Eric to do the same thing.

A bit off topic but you would so hate it, thus I have to share it with you. We have a magazine in Germany called the “Spiegel” (in English: mirror) which is really good and full of well rechered stories. In the last issue they had a report about the Tea Party movement and the political right in America. There they quoted Glenn Beck´s associations about America and Europe that is:
        America: God
Europe: Stalin, Hitler, Marx and Nietzsche

The Tea Party is scary considering their fervor however their numbers are inflated by right wing agendas and counter-representative of most Americans. Their ignorance is mind-numbing especially since they don’t even understand the significance of the original Tea Party. I’m very glad I live in the liberal enclave that is Massachusetts.*

Tea Party members are indeed a lot like Billovers, they have a loud bark, but not a big bite.

*Oh and a side note, if AB trashes my state again by saying yet another psychopath originates from it, I think I’m going to start a campaign against HIM. We’re responsible for Amy Burley and Mary Ann? Please. And I found the Cape Cod potato chip line especially harrowing, I grew up 10 minutes from that factory, it has a special place in my heart.

Wow. You are to only other person that I have seen put the connection between the conservative right wing and Bill Lovers.

I find the BL’s just so sanctimonious that their attitudes quickly became intolerable for me.

I don’t so much dislike bill as I do his supporters.

They continually point their finger at “Eric” whom they believe to be evvvvil yet ignore the fact the BILL is a fucking Vampire too AND been know to act out his own devious crap …

Ok enough. Who did AB say was from you state? Which psychopath?

I will be back later tonight, perhaps way late. TBC

I need help understand this cell phone thingy.

My cell phone is not a “smart phone’ in fact I would go as far to say that it would be in need of the “short yellow bus” were going to cell phone school. It would be looking out the back window with tears running down its keys waving bye bye to all the smart phones.

I have no way of taking a photo when they shoot out their “super secret” … image? so what happens to us still stuck with the “special” cell phones?

will you all be able to post the pic’s online or have we missed the bus, so to speak?

Yeah but he’s dgne to a lot trouble for someone that he only merely finds “curious”. I mean: he called Lorena in, he gave Lafayette his blood to heal him fully, he let her witness his emotional scene with Godric, he saved her life during the bombing, he offered himself to Newlin in exchange for both Godric and Sookie. I don’t know, the whole DOD thing seems so off to me. Anyhoo, it is what it is. I’m sure eventually I’ll adapt and move on from it. 🙂

Yeah. I don’t really want to see the DOD thing either because it just so fucking creepy and … yucky however, one of the things I try to do with this show is to remember that he is a 1,000 year old Vampire and where do I draw the line on projecting MY standards of what I think is right and wrong on to him.

Vamps probably do just look at each other and say “Wanna fuck” ( hell some humans do that … lol)

But it is difficult because underneath it all I like ‘Eric” and want him not to get too freaking ugly ‘morally or sexually” as delusional as it sounds on my part.

Well somebody who saw the clip said that sookie runs to fangtasia to make sure Eric did kidnap Bill and also to ask for help if it’s not him. So she might demand to go downstairs. I also wondered why Pam was walking behind her on the stairs instead of walking ahead of her. So maybe Sookie storms in down there and Pam follows behind her. Especially if Sookie thinks Eric was the one who kidnapped him. She knows about the basement.

I thought Eric made an excellent point when he gave his logical reasons for calling in Lorena.

In his mind he said Bill could not be trusted because he has no emotional control and basically act’s out like an reactionary infant (Ok MY words but still)

Eric made the appropriate decision in calling Lorena I think because the last thing he needed was a out of control Bill ruining everything by running about like a chicken with his head cut off killing everyone in sight yelling “Suu-kee)

Good on Eric for that one.

Eric thought that Bill would be loyal to Lorena and go way with her. Eric did not know that Bill can’t stand Lorena and he not loyal to her.

Bill in season runs out into the sun and tried to rescue Sookie. Bill runs in the church and yells Sookie and not do anything. Bill was very useless.

Well, it kinda was Eric. He knew when he called Lorena in, she would hold Bill. That’s what pissed me off about AB doing this. Eric is complicit in whatever happens to Bill re: Lorena. He put Bill back on her radar. I can’t forgive TB Eric for that. Book Eric wouldn’t need that kind of trickery. He’s much too confident in himself to resort to something so low.

Actually, Book Eric did pull this stunt but on a much smaller scale. He called in a Fangbanger to entice Bill and cause a little trouble between them. lol AB just took that scenario and revved it up, which is something that he loves to do.

ME, logical or no, it was so underhanded and if that’s why Bill was kidnapped, again, I won’t forgive him for it. The reason I like book E/S is that they actually grew to like each other. If they get together on TB purely through Eric’s craftiness, I would prefer her with Sam. Boring though the pairing may be, at least Sam really loves her.

For me its not an issue. Eric dosen’t give a shit that he called Lorena. He’s going to do what he is going to do and just dosent’ care what people think about his decision making process.

In the end he will do whatever it takes to get what he wants and I say go for it. This is what makes Eric so powerful and attractive to many.

Yeah it only works with a smart phone but here is the thing, even if you have a smart phone doesn’t mean you can do this, only those who live in NY, LA and Philly will be able to get the code. Don’t know why they’re doing this. There are instructions on viewing it and capturing the code with a digital camera but again unless you live in one of those 3 cities you won’t be able to get the code.

I don’t know what they’re doing over at HBO because at first they forgot to mention the whole 3 cities thing, which makes a big difference. If people don’t see the updated news about this, poor people will be sitting there confused and trying to figure out. Then they were given permission to put up the pic of a shirtless Eric and say thats what the scene will show but later on in the evening, HBO told sites to take down that pic of shirtless Eric..The only good news is that there will be a new trailer shown during lost, plus we get to see this whole scene.

On the nest they explained this. They updated their site to show it will just be 3 cities. Then they replaced the pic and said that they were told to take it down. They said originally they were given the green light to put up the pic but later on were told to take it down. Then if you check other sites that had the same shirtless Eric pic, they took it down too.

Hi guys another newbie here who shares your love for the Viking. I have enjoyed reading your ideas and theories and can’t wait for June 13.

My theory for what is happening in this scene is Sookie comes to Fangtasia completely convinced that evil Eric has to be the one who took her beloved Bill. She either storms through the bar and heads to the dungeon or asks Pam where Eric is and Pam says he is in the dungeon. On her way down she hears moaning and now she and us the audience are supposed to think that Eric must be in there torturing poor Bill like he did to Lafayette and Royce last season.

What she actually walks in on is consequential sex with hints of bdsm between Eric and Yvetta so surprise for Sookie and the folks watching at home the moaning was from pleasure and had nothing to do with torture or Bill because Eric had nothing to do with Bill’s disappearance.

Season 2 started for Eric with him causing pain in the dungeon season 3 is going to start with him giving a lot of pleasure in said dungeon and I for one can’t wait to see it all unfold.

Welcome AstralRomance…I have to say this sounds very likely. There are quite a bit of viewers who think Eric took Bill. I see it on other sites and on youtube all the time, people swearing it’s him. AB knows this so the first impression you’ll get is OMG he did take him but it won’t be true. Not all viewers check the internet for spoilers, casting calls and other info so for those who don’t, well they’ll briefly believe it. I also don’t think it’s a coincidence that now AB says that book readers will be surprised by who kidnapped Bill.

      • 515 LLE

It will be the same people that kidnapped Bill but a different story. In the books Eric tells Sookie that Bill been kidnapped. On TB Sookie tells Eric that Bill been kidnapped.

        • 516 Dee
          May 22, 2010 at 8:22 pm

The only thing is that in the books, Bill, was held in Russell’s mansion but he didn’t have as much involvement as Lorena. Remember when Sookie sees Russell at the summit, he didn’t care that Bill escaped or that Sookie staked Lorena. More like he allowed Lorena to hold him there, he even said he thought Lorena was a bitch. On the show I think Russell’s involvement will be larger, it will be the reason he is kidnapped. He might also just try to make us think differently simply for the fact that it was were’s who physically took him so when we first see this it wont be Lorena like we thought or Eric like some others think. Lorena is involved somehow though.

In the books, Bill was chained to chair by silver and he was torture by Lorena and were-wolves. Deb torture Bill too.

Yes, I know and i remember finding out Debbie helped in the torture in book 4. What I meant was as far as who physically took him from the restaurant. It’s the were’s it seems, so they did the actual kidnapping but they were sent to do this.

          May 22, 2010 at 8:52 pm

I wrote this this morning, but I doubt anyone read it cause I put it in another post.. well here’s the gist of it anyway:

I think Sam took Bill, and they’re sexual encounter might not be a dream.

“For people who read the book, they’ll be surprised who kidnapped Bill,” Alan Ball promised devoted fan(g)s in a recent interview.” So its not Lorena, the Weres or Russell?

So maybe they are taking Sam’s shiftier side into account? He could know the time and place, (Sookie blabbed it to him on why she wanted to leave work early or he heard the Tara convo) and motive (he could be pissed he is having dreams about Bill and is putting two and two together about what Bill did to ‘woo’ Sookie.) Oh and then maybe Sam sells Bill to the V-addicted Weres, so Russell’s white horse rescue is not a setup on RE’s part. Afterall, Bill is getting the royal guest treatment at RE; silk sheets, smexy stripper food, a phone call, Talbot the tour guide.. maybe Russell is an FOB.

I might actually like Sam if he did this.

            May 22, 2010 at 9:07 pm

Yeah but Sam is not around, he left before that night and went to see his adoptive parents. It’s safe to say he was not in BT. I think the night of the proposal was when his adoptive father was passing away and handed him his parents names.

Well, maybe he was setting up his alibi? And he hired Weres to get Bill for him? Did they say where his adoptive parents were? I can’t remember, but wouldn’t it be convenient if they lived in Mississippi?

As far as the dungeon goes as long as it has been cleaned up ( thoroughly sanitized with a 99 % disinfection … lol) AND it is consensual fun between Eric and (fill in the blank) then mentally I can go with … whats the prob?

I would prefer it NOT be the dungeon but AB is going to keep Eric mean and lean to counteract the “hero Bill” bullshit meme he had going… I think.

Having a consensual kink-a-thon down in the DOD with ERic doesn’t make Yvetta a slut…just someone with appallingly low standards for hygiene and sanitation. Also, I’m totally on board with the slashed for our viewing enjoyment man-on-man scene that we’ll be seeing in S3. I was just making a comparison between the TB Eric and BookEric, apparently the differences between them will increase further, but I think he would never have sex in a filthy place, I think he has had his share of dirt in their 1000 years.
He never had sex in the book three in a dungeon, this is the Interpretation of TB than they “think” like a vampire to do, I know many will say that he had sex in the books and we just have not seen, because is the point of view of Sookie, etc.. But as he not has a sex dungeon in the books, but unless CH say it do I not buy this idea, and based on that small detail of having as a rule take off their shoes when entering his house, he would not have sex in a place filthy and reeking of human feces.
I know at this point to compare the two Erics no longer makes sense, but still can not accept that. He may have all the sex kink and BDSM in a clean and comfortable preference and not necessarily just regular sex.
I’m sorry but I do not buy the idea that he is a vampire and bla bla bla, and then it would be normal sex in a dirty basement.

Eric does not bring the fangbangers to his home for sex. I don’t think Eric care where he had the sex with the fangbangers.

I never said he takes fangbangers at home, I’m just trying to say my point, do not understand literally what I said. And yes he does not care about the fangbangers, but he defined it should care where he himself has sex.

I agree I also meant to say consensual between Eric and Yvetta. I understand why people don’t like the BDSM element and the fact it is in the dungeon but I think it just makes for a more edgy story by having it take place there.

I also think if Eric is dominating Yvetta it also shows how open minded and sexually adventurous he is so some of us won’t be too surprised by what he gets up to later in the season. 😉 (It also makes Sookie’s “I got skills scene” seem even more ridiculous but that is a completely different topic).

As you said “keep Eric mean and lean” because that is why the character is so popular and the viewing audience loves him so much. He is a Viking vampire after all.

Thanks for the nice welcome I think I might like it here. 🙂

We really don’t know what going to happen at all. It’s does not bother me if Eric has sex with Yvetta. At least we know that Eric is not running to Sookie every time Sookie gets upset like Bill does. If Bill was not kidnapped, Sookie would be marry to Bill. Sookie thought Eric kidnapped Bill and walk seen Eric doing something in the basement. Sookie will asked Eric for help in finding Bill.

I know where you are coming from VikingLover I too had major problems with sex in the dungeon and also Eric with a man sexually. I’m not sure how I got over it and am at the acceptance stage now. Maybe it is the fact that as many have stated already he is over 1000 years old and would have “seen it done it” when it comes to almost any situation be it sexual or otherwise so from a character standpoint it might make sense. I just hope Alan Ball isn’t just using Alex’s openness and willingness to go where other actor’s never would as a cheap ratings grabber and that it will be significant story-wise.

I must confess that I haven’t read the books but I understand how different TB Eric is being portrayed to the book Eric that you all know and love. I just hope that Alan Ball won’t ruin the Eric character that both book and television fans love. I’m cautiously optimistic that this will be a great Eric season for all.

I’m sure the dungeon will look differently and will have been thoroughly cleaned. Yvetta might be a freak but I doubt she would even want to get it on if there was blood anywhere, if it smelled or even if it was that filthy. Maybe he still has that torture wheel down there but it might also look different, we see the rest of Fangtasia looking different. We also see that now they want to have strippers so they are changing things around. Most who worked there were vamps except Ginger, but they glamoured her all the time. All the strippers auditioning were humans, so I doubt they would keep the dungeon in the same condition if they plan on having other humans around. Don’t strippers need a dressing room? am I being too hopeful in thinking they changed it to accomodate human strippers. Yes, I know im reaching with these theories lol

In the books Eric threaten to torture Sookie and he wanted information about the data base. Sookie had the data base and Eric did not know it that time. On the show Sookie goes to Eric’s basement where he tortures people. I wonder if Sookie walks in on Eric.

Eric knows where Sookie is and where she is all the time.

Color me stupid, but how do we know they are actually fornicating in the basement? They could be doing plenty of other activities down there whilst still naked; maybe they are taking photos for the calendar, maybe they are getting ready to take a shower together (tho I hope not, no. no. no shower scenes are for season 4.), maybe they are playing Twister, strip poker,.. please let it be something else, I really hate the idea of DODS.

I know a lot of people really upset about the possibility of Eric consensually getting his freak on with Yvetta down in the DOD. However, consider that he’s tried to break up the monotony of his lengthy existence with with all manner of debauchery. All vamps do…because let’s face it, after a thousand years… doing it in the missionary position with the lights on probably no longer provides the perverse thrill it once did. As we saw with the blood prostitute in Dallas, kicks just keep getting harder to find for poor Eric. Not that there is anything wrong with depravity among consenting adults, but we get the sense that he’s feeling vaguely empty and unsatisfied with his jaded existence. All of which opens the door for a real emotional connection with Sookie later on in the series.

“….we get the sense that he’s feeling vaguely empty and unsatisfied with his jaded existence. All of which opens the door for a real emotional connection with Sookie later on in the series.”

I like this theory. Adding the Godric factor: his words about vampires not evolving, and treating humans as equals, and asking Sookie to care for Eric, encourages me to hope this is the way it will go.

I agree. I do not believe AB is putting Yvetta into the story without reason. She is there for more than eye candy and a toy for Eric, and I do believe she’s going to play an important roll in the series. Eric is definitely transitioning, as many of us do when we lose someone we love. He was restless even before Godric’s death, and I can only imagine the depth of that restlessness in someone who has been alive for a thousand years, someone who has seen almost everything there is to see. Sookie, however, is highly unique, something special, and he has been forbidden by the Queen from messing with her. He is going to do everything possible not to “taste her”, and if that means throwing himself into a sexual bonanza with some unknown woman, he’s going to do it. Eric has always loved women. We never see this in the books, because everything is written in Sookie’s voice and everyone’s story is seen through her eyes. We don’t know that Eric wouldn’t enjoy some bondage in the basement. Maybe he did but as readers we were never made aware of it. But we do know he is flawed, he has darker aspects to his personality. Just like Bill. Except Eric doesn’t really try to hide them.

          May 23, 2010 at 12:23 am

I believe Bill hired Yvetta to be Eric’s toy. Bill’s plans were to marry Sookie and he did not want Eric to ruin his plans. Bill knows that Eric wants Sookie.

    • May 22, 2010 at 10:21 pm

      I totally agree.
Eric is on a transition stage. He’s starting to realize that Sookie means something to him but he’s not ready to accept it. Add the “edict” from SA who clearly wants him to stay away from her, and here we are. Eric is trying to have some fun without Sookie, but I doubt he’ll be satisfied. He’ll only get more irritated and sick and hungry for something else.
Plus, showing DODsex with Yvetta will make only clearer how extraordinary is for Eric to really care for a human woman, even to be happy to just stay on her side and watch her sleeping.
      Aww, I’m so romantic.

I really hope you guys are right. I’m glad that most people seem okay with this because I wouldn’t want to see a wonderful character and a wonderful story ruined. I’m hoping that at some point I can get to the place that you all are at. Right now though – and I never ever ever thought that this could be possible or that I would ever say this in a million years – I am having a hard time finding him sexy. They have ruined my beautiful Viking for me and I f****cking hate them for that. I tried watching the promo hoping that I could get beyond this but the whole time I just kept picturing him in that dirty ass basement full of poop, pee, and blood having sex with Yvetta. Then images of that dusgusting vampire having sex with Maudette came to my mind. Honestly, if I were Sookie it would be really hard for me to take him seriously after witnessing something like that – since she knows what the place is used for obviously. He would have to perform some miraculous feats to convince me otherwise. I wouldn’t want to touch him with a 10 foot pole. This makes her falling in love with him now much more unbelievable for me. I’m hoping that once I start watching S3 and get caught up in the character again and in his development that I will get past this and put it behind me and see him as the beautiful Viking he once was to me. Right now, when I look at him the promo, he jus seems sleazy and dirty – and not in a good way. I f*****cking hate AB right now.

In the scenes at Sookie’s house we’ve seen, Sookie seems anything but disgusted when she speaks to Eric (and we know how easily she gets disgusted lol), so whatever she’s seen it can’t be so awful.

Though the DOD sex doesn’t bother me the way it bothers you, EVERYTHING else that bothers you bothers me. My only solution is to scream at the TV and read the books while the series is going on. LOL! I had dinner parties to view S2 last year and my friends love me so much they tolerated me wingeing and moaning. This year though, not sure I’ll do it. I was so hopeful last season, creating themed dinners was a bit fun, but as my hopes were dashed pulling together a dinner party just wasn’t fun anymore. I hate AB for ruining something would have given me such pleasure. I liken it to Neil Jordan ruining “Interview With The Vampire” with Tom Cruise as Lestat.

Seriously, do you think CH would turn her beloved story, which she has been writing from Sookie’s POV for more then 12 years over to someone who didn’t understand it?? I think they are on the same page….when readers read, they read with imagination, when viewers view they need every little detail shown to them and the viewer are fickle. Osterby, I am not talking about Book Eric nor am I comparing TB Eric to Book Eric. I am solely speaking of TB Eric – my beloved TB Eric, my beautiful TB Viking that AB is going to show having sex in a stank ass dungeon where days before he killed a man. That’s what I’m speaking of. Like I said before, I’m really glad that everyone is cool with this but I’m not there yet. I’m having trouble with this new side of my beloved TB Eric. I just never imagined that Eric would do that. In his office, yes. In a private room of Fangtasia with a bunch of kinky toys and Yvetta hanging from the ceiling: yes. In the stank ass, once blood soaked dungeon, where there was a bucket filled with feces and urine, and 4 days before he tore a man limb from limb: no. I don’t give a poop about the bondage or kink and I get what everyone is sayiing about him being a vampire and being bored and all that jazz. Believe me, I get that. That’s all well and good and I have absolutekly no problem with that. My issue is soley with the location.

But for vampires, sex and death are closely intertwined. They are dead, animated corpses essentially, so I’m not sure Eric would be concerned so much with bringing a woman into a dungeon where he has recently killed a man. I do not believe he would bring Sookie there, ever. But someone like Yvetta? It’s not a huge stretch for me, especially if it was her idea.

              • May 23, 2010 at 2:16 pm

I agree with you Lotus! 🙂
I don’t see why a vampire should be grossed out by filth and the smell of blood.
I bet my ass that it will be Yvetta the one who proposes to be tied to the carousel of doom, I mean, see how she walks in towards Eric and Pam, all self confident and smug? The chick knows very well how to handle vampires.
That is not a rape or anything similar. That’s sex between a vampire and a woman who has a particular taste in kinky stuff. I don’t understand why showing Eric in a sexual encounter in the DOD could make him appear worse than he already is… Worse than ripping a man in two pieces? IDK.

Anyway, I was thinking that Sookie goes to Fangtasia at least twice: first right after Bill’s kidnapping, and she finds Eric in the dungeon, then a second time, and she talks to Eric in the empty bar and Eric says “Your life is too valuable to throw away”.
So, whatever she has seen in the dungeon, that couldn’t be so gross.

True, plus even in the books we saw that violence and sex were associated to the supes. They always got excited after a fight, seeing blood so infact it kinda turns them on. Both Eric and Quinn kissed Sookie after an attack and were turned on.

Thanks Guys, your posts have made me feel better and have helped me view this in a different way. I’m not as angry about this as I was yesterday. lol Although if I start to think about it too much I start to get worked up again. I just can’t help but feel that AB is showing depravity for depravity sake. I just don’t understand (yet) how this scene brings the story forward. A lot of what was said here, about him being in transition, ruthless, kinky, bored, empty inside, seeking an emotional connection etc, could have been accomplished in another way (without DOD sex). In any case, when I think about the scene itself from your “Eric” perspectives (death and sex being closely intertwined, etc) it makes more sense and makes me feel better about it. And your points have almost helped bring the sexy back to Eric for me – if I look at it that Eric would never bring Sookie down there, etc. And Hime, you’re right, if she was able to stand him after that then it can’t be that bad.

I just have a question though. If it’s true that Eric makes a pass at Sookie while Yvetta is there (tied up) and supposedly asks her to join them, how would you feel about that? Maybe you guys can put that in perspective for me too because I can only see this as him being disrespectful to Sookie. Or maybe we should just wait until you guys view the scene and then tell me if it comes off badly.

Well, if he is standing there naked, I can see it as conversational technique to move past the initial awkwardness, if he says something like ‘hey Sookie, we were just about to have a go on the wheel of terror, want to join? what are you doing here?’ but I think it would bother me if it were after she told him Bill was missing.

In that scenario, it is slightly disrespecting and flippant, because it means he’s not listening to her or taking her predicament seriously. We all know he doesn’t like Bill, but to make a joke of his disappearance like that is kind of callous.

VL-I think this can be important to the story and can further show us how much Sookie means to him or will mean to him. In S2 we saw him with that escort and how it took a lot to excite him and most women probably bored him. We see how he treats other woman, we’ll see with Yvetta how she is garbage and maybe to further drive this into our minds, he’ll take her to the most classless place he can. Doesn’t take much to surprise him, excite him and most women he encounters are just objects. Then later on we compare all this to how he is with Sookie. Look at the trailer, something as simple as Sookie just putting her arm on his neck and saying that skills line is enough to surprise him and evoke emotions that no other has been able to do. This will show us even more that behind that look he gives her are real feelings. I know it’s going quite far to prove this point but I think it’s to show us a complete extreme difference. From not caring about women, showing no class or dignity for them to all that he will do for Sookie. Can help show that what he feels for her is real from early on.

Not sure if that helps but hope it does a little.

well still not sure what he says to her but honestly it’s better than in the books when he said he can torture her to find out what she knows. Only part that bothered me in the books. Plus we don’t if he asks her to join, he offers help but sounds like his offer of help might be something else.

This brought to mind the LS incident and how to Eric, at that time, it would have been inconceivable to kill a vampire for a human (regardless of her telepathy I might add) whereas now he’s telling her that her life is valuable. LOL. That’s why I love him so much.

[I just can’t help but feel that AB is showing depravity for depravity sake.]
Remember, it’s TrueBlood. Were all the orgies necessary? No. Was the whole “Jason screwing chicks right and left” thing necessary in S1? No. But TB is like that. ^^

To your question: I’m not sure… as many have said that it could be a cover up for awkwardness, or a test to see Sookie’s level of commitment to Bill. If Eric is naked then we should see Sookie feeling jealous and aroused.

But i have another possible take on this… could this be a dream?? i know it could be far fetch but it could be Sookie’s internal rationalization to her feelings of seeing Eric and Yvette having sex in his office??? I haven’t had much sleep in the last few days, and these images have thrown me in a loop, so i could be thinking strange…

I don’t know, y’all. In the books the vampires are all vaguely disgusted by normal human processes – like their need to eat and pee and shit. I don’t see any vampire being willing to eat or fuck in piss and shit and filth. On the other hand, if the basement has been cleaned, I don’t think any vampire would have the same emotional revulsion we would to the dungeon. They are, theoretically, emotionless.

Exactly Osterby, I said this yesterday! I think AB is going to end up in the same place as CH. She would not have placed her characters and storyline in the hands of AB unless she trusted in his vision. AB is just taking his own route getting there, and he is also into shocking his viewers.
But, I think it is important that we should all try to remember that the SVM books are canon, the true story of Eric and Sookie.

I agree. Don’t forget, even though AB has made it clear the show will be different from the books (CH knew beforehand and agreed to it), he’s also a big fan of the novels and understands their essence. Like so many have stated before, he may take a different path, but the destination will be the same, and I firmly believe that.

IMO, he also knows there are quite a few viewers out there who read the books, so he’s doing some mindf*ckery because we know what’s gonna happen; he’s messing with that knowledge, mixing things up. This, I don’t mind, because it keeps things interesting. It’s gonna be one hell of a wild ride, and I’m holding on for the duration! 🙂

Please don’t worry VL. I truly believe that once we understand the context of the scene nobody will be disgusted with Eric. LOL. There has to be a good reason for him being down there with Yvette and it will all make sense when we see the ep.

Thanks Sunny. You’re right, once we view it then we can put it all in perspective and then maybe I can understand why DOD sex was necessary for the story when he just could have had sex in his office or in a private sex room in Fangtasia.

It’s just that we KNOW Eric never does anything randomely, impulsively or gratuitously. (this is why I know he planned the Royce killing exactly the way it happened and didn’t react out of petty anger. That is Bill’s job.) He always has sound reasoning and doesn’t go off half-cocked, so to speak. 😀 Whatever he’s doing down there he has good reasons.

Hime, this is an excellent summary of Eric’s conflicted feelings regarding Sookie at this point in the series. He is definitely in a transition stage. And, of course, everyone knows what happens when we are told that someone or something is forbidden. That interest and intrigue only deepens.

the only thing that still bugs me about this scene is that book Sookie never had to see anything like this with BE. She saw Bill, Sam, Alcide’s other lovers, i thought CH did this on purpose, and i loved that. I presumed that Eric was meeting his needs, but was grateful not to have to know about it.

I agree with whomever mentioned this being a way to show viewers Eric is not gay, considering what else he will be doing this season… Also, “our viking” is not only a vampire, but he is a VIKING, those dudes were brutal! What he’s doing down there is for entertainment only, and not connected to anything other than primal lust, and is probably nothing compared to what he has seen/done in his lifetime. When his feelings for Sookie grow, he, even Pam are shocked by it, it stirs something in him, he probably hasnt know since he was alive.

I think that the Queen has Bill kidnapped or by king .
Russell knows Lorena and that she Bills maker.
Sookie will ask Eric to help after she walks in and see him playing with Yvetta .
    Pam …I love…
will make sure Sookie see Eric and Yvetta together.
Pam wants Yvetta and Pam knows Eric wants Sookie .
LOL .. Eric will help Sookie and Pam will have more time with Yvetta.
Frank is a spy may be for the queen or for Russell or Lorena .

I know not the right place but SVB, you might want to start a new entry. HBO just put up the S2 review as told by the actors. And they’re all wearing the costumes they are wearing in the S3 poster. LOL! Here’s the HBO link

I couldn’t watch this because the clip kept crashing…..
I saw the first few minutes though, it seems to be the cast just talking through the second season?

Unfortunately it’s not on YouTube so I can’t post it…

      • May 23, 2010 at 10:56 am

During the credits there are some stills from S3. Most we have seen, but a few are new, I think. I’m guessing one is Alcide’s sister. There was another female character with dark skin and a round face. It wasn’t Laffy’s mom, but I have no idea who it could be. The magister is there looking magnificent. There are a couple split second action scenes. They went so fast I couldn’t even determine if the were new.

there is also sookie wearing a black short wig 😛 she’s in disguise, perhaps she’s trying to draw russell’s attention. also the “skills” scene is a second longer and you can see she’s actually starting to kiss him.

well, now that i’ve thought about the whole bdsm in the dungeon thing, or rather, why the heck he would do that anyway, i still don’t have *much* of a better explanation, BUT… i was thinking, eric has had a lot happen to him in the past few days, right? he’s lost his maker, he’s been somewhat shown up by an insubordinate, and he’s been embarrassed by the Queen too. and he’s not used to having feelings or whatever. so he’s doing whatever he thinks will make him feel better. including a very vigorous and somewhat angry session in the dungeon :p

    thats my theory anyway.
like this face, it seems a little haughty to me. like, an “i can do whatever i want” kind of face.

sookie reminds me of a Pulp Fiction Uma Thurman here:

Aww man, this whole “family” “career” and “life thing” is seriously cutting into my obsessive compulsive distorted Eric/Alex time.

“I’m hungry”, “You’re about to miss a deadline”, “I want sex”, “Where’s my meds” … jeez, get a freaking life people … now, where were we?

    Naky Eric …

I’m now thinking ‘NO” at least as far as tonight’s “unveiling” of the photo through the ‘secret” code. It would probably be illegal here in America to send such hotness through TV and the whole lot of them ( Alex, Alan Ball, & everyone at HBO) would end up in some jail for sending X rated material via … ?

Not gonna happen. It will probably just be more of the same which is all still GOOD!

    Anybody awake?

Hey all I think the Resurecting Season 2 video that won’t play is what they’re going to air tonight at 7:45pm (EST) on HBO. So I bet the HBO site will start working after they play it on air (they’re sneaky like that over there) for all of you who aren’t in the US or don’t have HBO.
